“This place is seriously the best place for authentic Mexican food in Memphis. The al pastor tacos is the tastiest in town and the fish tacos are hand battered with their own blend of seasonings. The salsa bar is amazing and all made in house. Can't wait to go back!“
“Excellent, fresh, delicious. Wieso is the best I’ve had anywhere, perfectly flavored and texture was creamy but not thick. Fried avocado taco was so unique and delicious, shrimp taco great, tilapia was so tender and well cooked, slow cooked beef was cooked to perfection. Churros were so good, with a creamy inside filling and light crunchy exterior. We will definitely visit again!Parking: Right off the Main St trolley lineKid-friendliness: Easy going and clean“
“We came here for the first time four months ago and we ended up eating here…I think three times? during our short stay in Memphis, and I’ve been dreaming about this food every day until today. Ha. I had the same cup of soup (the bowl is huge!) and asada street taco. Just as delicious as it was in all my dreams. Memphis you don’t know how lucky you are.“
“Tried this spot for the first time tonight and it was instantly saved in my favorites. The Elote was banging and the Carne asada steak ? tacos ? the steak was like GRILLED BBQ smoked brisket flavor definitely coming back the prices was really reasonable. With that said this place is "CASH ONLY" ?“
“Pretty good food, and lunch special is offered all 7 days a week. Inside is a bit run down and salsa a bit too runny for my taste but those were the only complaints.Kids menu had mulitple options of Mexican style dishes and American (nuggets, burger, etc.) if you have a picky eater.“
“Service, food, atmosphere were all really really good. The complimentary chips and salsa were amazing, especially the green jalapeño sauce. I bought some for home.Vegetarian options: They are easy to please and can prepare requests if possible. We asked for arroz con Pollo with green bell peppers and no onions and they said sure.Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor with double door entrance.“
“Loved my experience at Torchy's with Cynthia! Chips and queso with chorizo added is amazing! Not to mention the Brushfire taco, a jerk chicken taco (with my fav mangos)! To top it off I had a strawberry top shelf margarita on the rocks! ? I will be coming back....❤️“
“This is the restaurant that took over Pancho's old location in the Cloverleaf--they still haven't finished remodeling but it's a lot brighter and more open now.The salsa is made in house and it's 5 star! The cheese dip is kinda thin and adequate. We had Carne Asada, Taco Salad and a chile relleno. Everything was better than good with the exception of the chile relleno. The waitress was great and the beer was cold--we'll be back!“
“First, the prices are very affordable. I appreciated the authenticity of the food. Loved the chicken and steak tacos the most. I went the next day and tried the pork and barria tacos. I didn't enjoy them as much, but that's just personal preference. The green and red salsa is great. I'll be a customer every time I come to that area. You'll love the food.“
“When I tell you I drive pass this place everyday so looking for something good for my money to feed 2 people so I came across this place on the internet so I tell you it's 25$ dollars it's so good and they have a sauce bar it's really good I was surprised and it fed us I'm glad I went there it's in Whitehaven and we love Mexican so that hit the spot Perfectly service was fast and quick ambiance was very clean and inviting thanks again for the amazing food“
“Awesome food.Molcajete is the best. Service today sucked. I had molcajete, cheese dip, sampler platter. There was so much on the table between those items, the girls drinks, my water and amargarita, and chips. No room, so we eat,get to go boxes no room, to even get the food in a box. 4 employees sitting behind the cashier talking, (we were at the first 4 top in front of the cashier) it was not busy we went early cuz we know how crowded it gets. Several servers walking around… not one, even our server didn’t take any dishes away, I was spilling food trying to move things around and get things out of the way to get in boxes. Very aggravating. I love the food there, but, I go out so I don’t have to cook, clean up, and to have a good time and relax. Not to work or be inconvenienced. I usually tip well, but , no not today. There’s 100’s of Mexican restaurants here. When I found this place we were on a quest to find the best Mexican restaurant in town… we stopped there as we believed we found the best.. but the service seems to be lacking lately, so I believe our quest will continue“
“Food is incredible. Be warned that the music playing is incredibly loud. The very first thing said to us when we walked in was that “we don’t sell cheese dip.” A little insulting but I get it. We would definitely go back but probably sit in the back section to avoid the stupid loud music. But the food is really crazy good.“
“The have the best steak I've had ever !!! I truly recommend this to everyone to try.. Everybody was nice an attentive and the only reason I gave it a 4-5star rating is because the Very Handsome man who took my order said he had a girlfriend whn I asked , LOL... Try there cheeseburger It's Huge !!!“
“1of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the city I'll put them up against any spot u name, authentic, made with love seems family owned and oriented every time I've eaten here the food is NEVER a miss! as long as they're in business they have mine.“
“I have frequented this Summer Avenue location many times over the past two decades, and it is easily one of the most consistent, authentic and affordable restaurants in the city. The photos I've included feature the Burrito lunch special. Along with being filling and delicious, the entire experience was under $15, even with a 50% tip. It would be hard to top this quality, quantity and price point in a full-service restaurant. Highly recommended.“
“Pastor tacos, chicken tacos, and a mango civiche tostada. My girlfriend has strained her eyeballs for months when I bring up this taco trucks cevilche but I literally can't think of any ceviche I like more. She took several bites and i know she loved it. Also, these are literally the best tacos in the city of Memphis imo. So ???????“
“This is a very clean local neighborhood restaurant with great service. I felt like I was in Cancun or at least mentally I was LOL. # 49 is good I think it's oxtail with a green sauce very yummy. I also get # 58 Gorditas. Take cash because they charge a little extra if you use credit card.“
“One of my work buddies told me about this place, so I gave it a try. I had 100% satisfaction with the food quality and quantity for the price I paid, I also thought that the staff was super nice and quick to take my order, the restaurant looks clean and nice from the inside. I highly recommend this place. Thank you!Parking: Thank you“
“Living in the neighborhood of Camino De Michoacan, we decided to try the Mexican restaurant. The food is authentic Mexican food with an delicious bakery. Don't let the appearance of the restaurant influence you -- your taste buds will come alive with the delicious Mexican food. The staff is more than helpful. Not only do they assist you in selecting your food, but they explain the dish in English! Excellent service. This 'hidden gem' is not to be missed! Try it... you will like it!“
“Food is always great here. I hate that they reserve a card from parties over 4 to ensure no "dine & dashes" occur. It's sad that they have to resort to that; people can really mess things up! So be warned if you're bringing large group. Nonetheless, food is always great. The staff is patient & helpful. If there is any mistake by the kitchen, it's rectified immediately. They offer lunch specials. Kid-friendly. Good place. Overly packed on Sundays after 2!“
“Came in for breakfast. Huevos con chorizo was very good. The hot sauce is homemade as is the pico...both are amazing and fresh. Guac is made to order, we saw them peeling our avocado. It was VERY good and flavorful. Our server (didn't get her name) was incredibly nice and did a great job“
“Food was good. I had the enchiladas combo and they all worked well together. He got meat fajitas and loved them— personal taste, he should have asked to leave the chorizo off— but flavor was not overstated so it wasn’t a big deal. The chips, salsa and cheese were all good… not exciting but good safe flavor for the whole family. Service was great. Dimmed lights inside but clean and fresh feel. (Windows are dark from the outside at night— they business is open.)Kid-friendliness: Little vocal customer was enjoying his self and no one batted an eye.“
“THE BEST FOOD I've ever had!! Sitting in the covered outside area and eating the food as it came out sizzling was unbeatable! The prices are so affordable and I swear I can keep eating the tacos!! Must try items -Chicken tacos: filled with plenty of chicken and cheese, it was so juicy and flavorful! Usually pulled chicken is dry and not seasoned well in tacos but this places absolutely killed it!! Consume: HAVE TO get the consume tip dip literally everything in it. Add a little lemon to it and it's golden. So warm and had the perfect spice to add even more juiciness to the food. Quesadilla: cheesey goodness is all I have to say about this one. Got the shrimp in this one and god it was cooked soooo well! Got some hot sauce on the side along with the consume and we kept ordering so many haha.“
“This has been my favorite Mexican restaurant for years! Anytime someone wants to go out to eat, I suggest Playita! Being a family owned/ran restaurant, the service is always friendly and inviting. Food arrives QUICKLY and is delicious. I always get tacos, but my friends and family have tried a variety of foods that have always been suburb, and the cheese dip is to die for! Not to mention, it's very affordable. My usual meal is no more than $10-$15 with taxes and all included.Thank you, Playita Staff!“
“I found this spot on Yelp. I called in my order and the lady who helped me was very friendly and helpful. When I arrived, my order was ready and she asked if I wanted salsa. She told me that one was really spicy and she gave me one that wasn't very spicy. I really appreciated her hospitality. The spicy salsa was my favorite. The tacos were cheesy and fresh. It came with 3 but I was full after 2. The portion size is perfect. I will definitely return.“
“I ordered door dash, and overall, the experience was positive. The food tasted great, but I was disappointed by the size of the queso appetizer. It was in a side cup and very small for the price ($7.95 for a side cup of queso). No other complaints!!“
“One of the best Mexican meals in Memphis! Everything is very fresh, delicious with a homemade flavor and also the corn tortillas are as good as my mother's. The only bad thing is that they are not open all day, so it is difficult for people with fixed hours at work to come and try all the food. I would like to have the opportunity to come on weekends or for dinner.“
“I stopped by this place when I took my car for the regular oil change and servicing to Subaru. It’s a taco truck and they sell a lot of other Mexican delicacies too. The taco was good. I ordered a steak, an asada, and a chorizo taco, and I paid 7.5$. It was the weekend and the place was not much crowded. The service was fast and the food was served hot and fresh. The taco was tasty and spicy, although the salsa was just fine. The biggest problem is that IT’S A CASH ONLY place!“
“I come from Houston, TX. And I've been to eat at most Mexican restaurants and the truth is they don't come close to this place. Very good food, the seafood tower, very good and well stocked, good flavor, 100% recommended and affordable prices,“
“Overflowing tacos.I had 6 carnitas tacos and each one was stuffed to the max. They were each slightly seard to stay tender and just enough for crispy edges. You know the ones I'm talking about. Since it was carnitas, tender pork, skin, tendons (maybe), and magic.Could use a dash of salt, eat in if you can.Sauce was green and red, very fresh, but not a ton of kick. Would still get again regardless.I also order sope, but that was for my friend I didnt get to try it.“
“Our motorcycle riding club had our National event here for 2023 and after days of riding, fast food and food trucks, this was a blessing. They were able to get our entire party (impromptu group) seated all together and the service was outstanding as was the food. Plus they got the Ole Miss game on for me! Nice break from the road food!“
“For sure some good tacos. I got about 4 #1's which came with 5 tacos each and I made sure to mix up the different type of meats. Each one of them were very good and flavored well. And the salsas were also good to go along with them. Will be back !“
“When they say, "Real Mexican Food!" They're telling the absolute TRUTH! The food is AMAZING & the service is AWESOME! I seems like there's somebody's GRANDMA is back in the kitchen makin'it do..what'it do, Baby!Kid-friendliness: It's a great place to take the whole entire family!“
“I visited for the first time today. No referral. I just decided to try them out. The cashier was friendly & professional. The restaurant appeared clean and well kept. The food was prepared quickly. I ordered a Tostada and 3tacos and rice. The Tostada was a 10! The tacos were asada. The meat was well seasoned but the shells didn't taste cooked or heated. The rice was ok...not very flavorful but still good. I enjoyed all of the food and I will return again for sure. I will try other items off the menu particularly a burrito and tamales!“
“Very authentic Mexican ice cream place. Very low-key . Super good quality snacks and sweets. Totally recommend!!! I prefer going here rather than La Michoacána.Kid-friendliness: Very accommodating. They have seats and tables for the children to sit. And even have a tv they sometimes play kid movies on. The whole store look very vibrant and attractive to the eye. Kids will enjoy being in here to eat some treats !Parking: The parking is Infront of the store. However because the store is low key there's not much space to park. You would need to mainly park in the store next to it to have good and safe parking.“
“Pop himself is one of the friendliest guys out there, I wasn't sure how many tamales to get for my family and he walked me through it, and talked sports while he was dishing them up. If you're a tourist coming through Memphis and you want to get off the beaten path, you want an only-in-Memphis experience that I guarantee no one else you know has had, 1) look up the story of delta tamales, and 2) go to Pop's. No sides, no frills, no seating, not much parking, just $2 for a flavorful, moist tamale, cash only, to eat in your car.“
“We eat here frequently and have consistently had great, friendly service and good food. While I generally choose from one or two favorites, I have tried other menu items and have never been disappointed. We always leave with an extra order of salsa to take home. The restaurant is always clean, inviting, and family friendly.“
“I had a rather large order for a work meeting, they called to confirm the time and the food was ready when i arrived, the young ladies helped me load all of the bags in the car, amazing customer service! the food is amazing, i love the shrimp tacos, they have this watermelon blended drink *chefs kiss* super refreshing! The staff is awesome and PePe is sooo sweet! this place is worth every penny!“
“Orale is a small Mexican/Bakery spot. The prices are more than fair for what you receive. I think the most expensive thing in the menu is 13.99 or 14.99. My wife and I live close by, and it is one of our go to places. The baked goods we get are about $1.50, so we go home with a couple of those after we eat. Currently, my favorite thing to order is the barbacoa tacos, which are insanely good. My favorite baked goods is the molasses (I think) cookie shaped like a pig.Everyone we have brought has loved it, and we never wait too long to eat. They owners (or staff) are very nice and always serve with a smile.Seriously, I feel like I've been to 100 Mexican food places in Memphis, and this is one of the best. Two things to know: not a lot of parking and I don't believe there are fountain sodas (only the glass bottle kind).Parking: Not hard to find parking, there's just not a lot of parking.Kid-friendliness: No problem for kids.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible“
