friendly people, brisket smoked perfectly, ribs are juicy, sausage is very tasty, always answer the phone and easy & fast to go order process, good location, plenty of parking, unique decore and comfortable ambience.
Good food. What makes my visit memorable is Megan, a very nice server, she cares about her customers, remembers your order from your previous visit and always has a smile on her face. If you have a chance to visit this fine establishment, make sure you ask for Megan as your server.
Me and a friend ate at Dyer's recently on a Saturday evening. The place was packed, and busy at the check-out. I didn't notice on the receipt, until I got home, that I was charged for a Zucchini appetizer, that I didn't order or get. This made the bill and tip a little higher than it should have been. I'm not sure whether the waitress or the cashier did this. Anyway, the service was good, and the food was good and plentiful, so much so we had to get take-home boxes! The only thing negative about the food was the iced tea... it was very, very weak and tasteless.
Food and service were both WONDERFUL. Our server was busy but we always had tea and our food came out hot and faster than I expected. The guy sitting behind us was ridiculously rude, impatient and entitled. Despite how awful he was to the server, she remained patient and kind. Kudos to her for having such great self control.BE NICE TO YOUR SERVERS, PEOPLE!
good food, good service, good atmosphere
Hard to make then best BBQ but this place is definitely a good one. If you're from here it's one of the best you can get. I'm not from here, but this is one of my favorite places in Amarillo! Only downside is some of the sides are greasy.
Very nice place and great food. Very enjoyable meal.
I grow up on BBQ from southeast Texas where every BBQ place makes their own links and meat is SMOKED not boiled in water and then placed on a grill. This place is popular! So of course being new to Amarillo I wanted to check it out. I ordered the Dyers special. Two meats with a taste of every side. Cole slaw, beans, potato salad, onion rings and Texas toast. I asked them to cut the rings and toast for more beans and potato salad. Portions are pretty good. I'm not a big meat eater so I feel like the amount was enough for me to eat two times. As for the taste well....not to shabby Dyers! I like this BBQ. Beans could have had a little more sweet but honestly I would still order. Slaw was awesome and potato salad had a little mustard than I'm used to but good flavor. If you are are driving through, it's a great place to stop. FYI you're in Texas so they are doing masks. Just wear yours and you'll be fine.
OMG - we pulled into Amarillo for the night and were looking for somewhere to eat. I didn't want to hit a chain restaurant or a certain tourist trap mecca like the home of a certain 72oz steak challenge. A little poking around on Google found me this gem.It doesn't look like much from the outside, but in my experiences the best places never do. We walked in the door and the smells told us everything we needed to know. Mouths started watering immediately. The service staff was awesome, and the food was beyond description. Pictured below is what I ordered - the 3 meat cowboy plate. There are like 7 meats to choose from, and no matter what combination you put together, you won't be disappointed. The resulting meat sweats were well worth it! This was Texas on a plate!I don't know if I'll ever get through Amarillo again, but if I do, then I know where I'm going for food!
Really good bbq. The ribs are fall-off the bone delicious! The slaw and potato salad was a bit on the sweet side but still good. The brisket was a bit dry for my liking, but still had a good flavor to it.
WOW ... I mean WWOWW!!! I have finally found a great BBQ place !!!! The meats were perfectly smoked and oh so tender. I usually hate coleslaw but theirs is delicious and the potato salad reminds me of my Nanny's... BRAVO !!! We will definitely be back.
This place was a lot better in the past. The food isn't as good, and seems like cheaper fattier meat. The decor leaves much to be desired. The staff is very nice though.
On a road trip and stopped to spend the night in Amarillo, TX. We were looking for a good Bar-B-Que and stumbled upon Dyer’s. Our waitress was super sweet and had a great sense of humor! My significant other got the Chicken Fried Steak with a side of Onion Rings and Fried Okra as well as two ounces of Brisket. They raved about the Steak and Onion Rings, but had to give first place to the Fried Okra- it was delicious! The one star off for this review will have to be for the brisket. It was a bit dry, and not what we were expecting. I ended up getting the ribs and they were so, so good! I got the plate which came with the ribs, onion rings, potato salad, slaw (my favorite besides the ribs), pickles, apricot sauce, beans and Texas toast. The barbecue sauce paired with the perfectly done ribs left me full and satisfied. We ended dinner with a slice of peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. It was very filling, but totally worth it! I recommend everything but the brisket to anyone thinking about coming to Dyer’s, and will be sure to return myself for the ribs!
From beginning to end it was an amazing dinner. Everything was prepared just right, from the onion rings to the cobbler. Our server was very attentive. It is at the top of our list for BBQ s. The noise level wasn't over the top either. We could actually have a conversation with one another.
Always a great place to go eat. Drove from Abilene to Amarillo for the day and didn't pass up eating here. Amazing BBQ and great price!
