We have come here several times over the years since the Highlands opened up and BEP was built. It's way better than any fast food around, but if I'm honest, the food quality ain't like it used to be...js...but still good We got seated right away, by Ms Donna (helpful, smiling bartender), and had a young waiter ask what drinks we wanted. He brought those to us as we scanned the menu...even though we already knew what we wanted before we got there, as always. Told the young waiter/server that we would both take the pot roast spud and then he asked for our sides, which we quickly selected. He disappeared to the back and our food was brought out by another nice lady a little later. We told her that we didn't think the food on the plates was ours, but we accepted anyways. Young server mistook us ordering the pot roast spud for the pot roast supper. No biggie, we just want the baked potato version. Ms Donna swoops in like Wonder Woman on a mission and confesses that our server is very new and made a mistake. She brings out 2 baked potatoes and unnecessarily apologizes again. She tops off our drinks that aren't really needing a refill and I tell her to "go help someone else and leave us alone" which we all laughed at. Donna says "I just want to take care of everyone" and she proves to do just that. While we were seated, she greeted customers, she seated customers, she brought drinks to customers, she brought meals to customers, she hugged customers, she shook hands with customers, she shadowed the servers as much as she could between tending the bar, etc etc. Ms Donna is the REAL DEAL! An absolute asset to a dying franchise that only has 1 location left in Texas. Black Eyed Pea, Donna is a genuine person that employers dream to find and keep. Donna, thank you, from both my wife and I. Watching her interact with all the customers around us makes me wanna grow up to be just like her. Ms Donna, thank you for giving a dam about people...you deserve recognition ma'am. BEP Corp, please take note and act accordingly. We'll be back soon to see Ms Donna

It's a friendly environment. To keep cost down the wait staff is rarely full, but they're great. It's great price for a quality home cooked meal. My family loves it.

In my opinion as well as all 11 of my birthday guest everything was great, from the service to the food. We were treated with courteous manners. The atmosphere was pleasing to all. We ate a variety of food and nobody complained about anything. Everything was so wonderful we are planning the birthday celebration of one of my guest next week at the same Black Eyed Pea restaurant next week.

The only Black Eyed Pea left in Texas. Our dinner was hot and flavorful! For home cooking in the area, stop in nice meal.

I heard this place had a very good Chicken Fried Steak. Wrong. The size of the steak was very good; however, the steak lacked any flavor. The roll and cornbread were very good. The service, once seated, was very good. The restaurant was busy, but the seater took a long time to seat anyone. Probably waited for 10-15 minutes and I was second in line.

I visited this location tonight and was truly disappointed. The price of the food is overpriced and the quality was terrible. I had issues with an order and I told the manager. The manager Robert was very rude and unprofessional. He was not understanding and very arrogant. I should have known something was wrong when you could walk in and sit wherever you wanted at 9pm. Another red flag was Pluckers next door had an hour wait. The fact that people would wait an hour instead of eating at this restaurant is a red flag.

Food isn't anything like what used to be Black Eyed Pea. I ordered a deep dish chicken pot pie and was brought a bowl of soup with some kind of flat tortilla shaped pastry laid over it. I wish I was kidding. Not what I was imagining as a chicken pot pie. It took a really long time for the food to arrive as well. Our server was very sweet, however. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing, so I won't be back.

I went here today after calling in a pickup order for my husband. I believe the person who took my order over the phone was Archie, who stated that my order would be ready in 15-20 minutes. I walked in about 10 minutes later, being that I was already in the area grabbing cupcakes from small cakes (try them out by the way. We go once a week). Archie welcomed me as soon as I walked in and suggested I grab a seat at the bar and my food was ready and would be right out. My main reason for this post is because I was in the restaurant for no more than 10 minutes and 4 other employees greeted me, asked how I was doing and if there was anything that they could get me. 4 other staff members besides Archie! That shows me y'all have a great group of employees and I appreciated that. You have a great staff and I hope you show them that appreciation. Thanks again, and of course my husband loved his chicken friend chicken.

Had lunch with my husband, wanted to try a diff restaurant instead of going to our usual places. Appetizer was pretty good, we had the sampler with fried pickles X2 and potato skins. Pickles were cut a little thicker than expected but not bad. Husband had a sirloin steak, he said it was good, fav part was the grilled veggies as the side dish, he also has red beans and rice but I didn't really see him eat much of it. I had a grilled chicken, a little disappointed as it was super dry and clearly overcooked. The bed of rice it laid on was greasy so it wasn't as good either. My side dish I had a side salad and that was pretty good. Overall experience wasn't bad, just need some tweaks on the food.

I think this may be the last of the surviving BEP locations in existence. Everything was pretty average....may be why they are all gone.

grew up going to black eyed peas with my momma, and this is the only one left. they 10 out of 10 have the best broccoli cheese soup, and you have to try the fried corn on the Cobb. I've know our waiter Archie for years now and he always takes so good care of us, giving us a great experience every single time we visit. he also has patience for my toddlers, and that's always something I need when going out. ask for Archie! he's great

Amazing service from female bartender (wish I knew her name) but she took great care of all her customers and provided A1 service.

Colton was our server. And we had a birthday party of at least 25 people. He had every single thing in order and didn't skip a beat. Prices were very reasonable place was clean and in order and the other staffaswell were very friendly and all had smiles. We will be going back. Thank you Colton for keeping it together for us
