I have wanted to eat at this restaurant since learning of it from an Anthony Bourdain show (think it was “No reservations”- but can’t find the episode). It was low key- and my visit was more about sharing an experience with family and homage to an admirable fellow human. The three stars are not a negative reflection of this experience for atmosphere- but a homage to Bourdain - on how he might paint a picture of a low key establishment featuring a dark and western themed corner of the west- sprinkled with a savory dust. The rabbit /rattlesnake sliders - are a “must taste” experience. My oldest son had the elk sliders (appetizers), and finally learned that chewing thoroughly (instead of wolfing) was much more enjoyable (despite taking three orders to fill him).My steak was perfect. No steak has ever been better than my own, but the prime rib being seared was definitely my preference on how the dish was served - and the seasoning used- was unique in that it brought forth and accommodated the essence of the beef.Whether a fan of Bourdain or not- everyone should have a LD experience - and accommodates any other activities might explore at the stockyards.

Just left this restaurant, we were celebrating my husband’s birthday. The hostess was so sweet when we walked in, all smiles so welcoming and warm. Someone give Adam a raise because he was awesome. The food was AMAZING. The environment, the experience, the courses, the history…10/10. Our server literally made our night, he knew the menu and history of the restaurant so well. This will be our official go-to restaurant for birthdays and anniversaries.

Loved the atmosphere, our waiter was great, but the food was a hit and miss for me.For the price, I was expecting a bit more beauty on the plate and the cook e more spot on.Our steak was good till we got to the middle and was a Gordon Ramsey moment. He would be screaming, TOUCH THAT, ITS COLD IN THE MIDDLE..LOL..We were with family, or I would have said something.Overall, we made family memories. My suggestion are the appetizers. But ask how that works first. We paid $99 for one of the THREE we ordered ?The rabbit, rattlesnake sausage was good stuff, but the hush puppies were my favorite.Bon appetite

The table we were seated at was a plastic picnic table. It was so unstable when I was trying to cut my steak, my wine glass almost fell over. The Tomahawk was so tough I finally sent it back.

First time there...food and craft cocktails were excellent... ( recommend the jalapeño cucumber margarita).....our server Ericka was the best in explaining the menu, offering suggestions, and not making us feel rushed. Will be back again!

The bison ribeye is the best steak I've ever had. My group had other dishes including the rabbit ravioli and chicken fried steak, all of which were excellent, but the bison ribeye was the best, also the elk sliders are phenomenal, tender, well seasoned, and if you have one, you'll want to eat 10 more. All around great experience and the waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. I will without a doubt be coming back to this Ft. Worth gem!

It was very loud and wait staff was very judgy. We ordered the garlic tenderloin and the elk steak. It took almost an hour to receive the food and when it came out the elk was extremely undercooked. We brought it up to the server to have it cooked a little more and he told us that they wouldn't prepare it any other temp. Then when the bill came the charge for the elk was still on there. I think for the cost of the restaurant I would probably recommend a different place that cares about what their customers think.

Were seated at a plastic picnic table with tablecloth that wobbled when cutting meat. The Wagyu Tomahawk Ribeye was not a good cut of meat. It took a lot of effort to cut it. we finely sent it back.

We eat out quite a bit. And we have a tendency to eat at the same restaurants in our area around Frisco. But with a trip to the stockyards, we made an effort to eat in Fort Worth close to where we were headed. We picked Lonesome Dove mostly because of the proximity of our destination. We couldn't be more happy with our choice. This was an amazing meal! We had the trio for an app, which had very good, very varied flavors. We followed that with the elk loin and beef tenderloin and each had the most amazing flavors! It was the best meal we've had in quite some time.

A must when in Fort Worth! The ambiance is inviting, the staff was helpful with the menu and Doug was fabulous at explaining the menu and making excellent suggestions! The Bluebonnet cocktail was superb! Highly recommend & do make a reservation! The manager Adam was very nice! It was great to see him walking around the restaurant making sure everyone was greeted and happy!
