Restaurantji unveils Galveston's must-visit Mexican dining spots. Taste the finest Birria Tacos, Chips and Salsa, Breakfast Burrito, and more in the city.
“This restaurant is the best Mexican restaurant in Houston and the surrounding areas. When you visit please try the birria tacos and the casa agave fries. I rarely leave reviews but this restaurant took me down memory lane. It brought childhood memories of me being back home.Everything was superb including the waiter, staff and the welcome atmosphere. If you want to feel like home come here. You will not leave disappointed.“
“Holy guacamole! The guacamole is absolutely delicious. So FANTASTIC!! The horchata is the best I have ever drank with a light spice flavor. The Quesabirria from the SPECIALTIES section of the menu are so tasty, a slow cooked pulled beef that when served look like 3 tacos served with a cup of warm consome dipping broth, onions, lime chunks and cilantro. Ordered on the owner's recommendation, the Gordita with chicharron con carne was hot off the grill and fantastic! It was filled with shredded, slow cooked pork meat and was the largest gordita that I have ever seen. It was the best gordita that I ever eaten. There was an option available for a spicy sauce, but I chose the milder red suace option on the meat. I added a little extra green salsa on some bites for additional flavors of old Mexico. I'll be going back for more. Everything has authentic Mexican flavor and is served hot and fresh from the kitchen. I could taste the love in every bite and in every sip. I am a local Galvestonian. Born a few blocks away from this restaurant and with Mexican heritage. The owner explained to me that he used to prepare and sell street tacos in Mexico City, Mexico. His mission is to serve authentic Mexican food. It looks to me like he is accomplishing his mission.Parking: I parked directly in front of the restaurant conveniently for free.“
“Fantastic breakfast that we were so happy to find. You order from the counter and they delivered our food. My husband is hard to please and he loved the chorizo and egg breakfast. The tortillas are hand made and delicious. Our friends ordered the breakfast burrito and they were huge. Great neighborhood spotParking: Park on a side street--easy to find parking“
“We got off to a late start (swimming with an 8 year old definitely takes priority) so was obviously worried when we got there after 1 pm. They were sold out of a lot of stuff, not much left, but we were able to get a taco plate, half pound of brisket, half pound of sausage, and a piece of their cake. Wow, everything was so good. Tortillas, even though they were cold, were amazing with the brisket and sausage. Wife loved her tacos. Daughter loved the cake. This isn't a tourist trap (they knew everyone else by first name), so my family and I had to go there. So worth it. Might have to go in first think Thursday for tamales.“
“This is a cute restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Not too much seating so you may have to wait to get a seat...luckly our group of 10 dined in at the right time and didnt have to wait for seating. Everything was delicious. I ordered the Birra tacos with cheese and the French toast. If you are a coffee drinker.... you MUST order the Cafe de Olla.“
“This is a cute little place. The food was amazing. We only did snacky food here but definitely worth it. The service was great we sat at the bar and the bartender was phenomenal. We went on two different days in full times had excellent service. The location was clean and so where the bathrooms. Going back in September and cannot wait to go to this place again.“
“When I heard Los Compos closed, I was so bummed. That charming restaurant in the house, tucked away from the main roads and just incredibly delicious. But luckily Lupita’s is carrying on with their greatness. I learned that many of the same people that worked at Los Compos are now there, so they’re bringing their greatness with them. $5.99 breakfast burritos that keep you filled up until dinner. Can’t beat it.“
“Excellent food. We went there for brunch. Not anything fancy about the restaurant. I don't need fancy as long as it's clean, and this place was. It is hard to believe how affordable the food is. I felt like I went back on time when I saw $5.50 for a massive burrito. $7 for chilaquiles. Delicious and affordable.“
“We were visiting from out of town and other reviews led us here and let me tell you it didn’t disappoint . We had flautas (they were amazing ) the birria ramen and birria tacos all of it was yummy ! The service was great . So happy we were able to enjoy delicious food !! Give it a “
“Will absolutely be returning here next time we’re in Galveston! We came for the breakfast burritos and they didn’t disappoint! Very delicious, and the staff were amazing. Highly recommend the home made lemonade pitcher, made with fresh lemons daily!Vegetarian options: They were happy to make the special breakfast burrito vegetarian for us, and the beans are also vegetarian!Kid-friendliness: Staff were happy to explain menu items for my kids!“
“An awesome spot for tasty tacos! The only thing I would say though that surprised me was how small the establishment is. There are only four tables on the inside that are pretty small but the outdoor seating is nice on a day that has good weather! The tacos with Birria were great and the staff was lovely to our group :) the portion was good enough for me, but I could see it being not fulfilling if you are super hungry. i'll have to come back and try different tacos next time.“
“I grew up in Texas but I've lived all over the country and traveled the world. These are authentic and delicious and perfectly priced. Plate of tacos for $10!!! My only hesitation is bragging too much because I don't want to wait in line next time. Seriously “
“In town for a family cruise and had to find a good local place to eat, and they did not disappoint. We actually ate here for breakfast and lunch. All food was excellent and the staff was very nice. We will definitely come back when we cruise out of Galveston again.“
“Clean, reasonably priced, and delicious food! Breakfast ends at 11. We were a tad disappointed but only till we received our lunch! We had the beef fajita tacos on flour - delicious! Great flavor and big chunks of meat. We shared snd were full. The small queso and guacamole aren’t tiny. We had more than enough for two. Loved the thin, homemade flour tortillas! Guacamole was freshly made. Chips were toasted and the salsa verde was awesome but too spicy for me. We had tea and water but saw some huge micheladas being served on our way out. We’ll go again for breakfast. Very clean, bright and inviting. Annie was one of our two waitresses, both impeccable with timing and refills on tea, water & chips. Go see them!“
“The pineapple is definitely for 2 and at a pricey $20 dollars they should offer this information upfront. However, definitely delicious and cost worthy for 2 plus people for sharing.Kid-friendliness: Need to implement a public restrooms facility.“
“Stopped in because of the good reviews and loved the food! Went with my husband and two year old. Food was great, loved the horchata! The lady who served us was not very friendly and seemed to be in a bad mood the whole time so it was a little uncomfortable, but glad we stopped by. Nice portion sizes for a nice price.“
“I was looking for a small place to have breakfast and Primo’s did not disappoint. The seating area was just right for meet-ups, with Latin treatments on the windows and walls, and some paintings. Endless coffee was served all around me. I had the huevos rancheros and the serving size was more than the price would typically have indicated. I will definitely earmark this one for a return visit.“
“The food was amazing!!! I’ve tried the burritos, tacos, gorditas and they all taste fresh and delicious. The owner himself was out there stirring up conversations and creating a comforting environment. Overall it was a great experience and I’ll definitely be back.“
