I came here in March. Looked for it again today to learn it closed last month. My understanding is that the chef wanted to return to Italy. As if Italy needs more chefs who know how to make a good carbonara but it's not about our convenience, after all. I found this restaurant on a google search for "guanciale" which is cured pork cheek - the only meat that is proper in an authentic pasta carbonara. And for sure, that dish was stellar. The focus was on the food. Nothing distracting on the walls so I'd enjoy my pasta and let the food take me back to a vacay in Italy. I would n*** out a little glancing into the kitchen to see the chef -- the guy in the logo and on DD&D -- as if catching a glimpse of greatness. Maybe see the pasta machine making fusilli...slowly and so boring. ... But kind of romantic because one must have love for pasta to make it fresh or to enjoy the difference. We had a special dinner prepared for our group. The owner and the chef were very friendly, attentive and accommodating. The dishes served were all delicious from the split pea soup to the Napolitano dessert. I only wish that the lamb dish would have been a little more generous in its portion.Unfortunately the restaurant will close for at least a year this Monday.
