“What a delight! The perfect ending for a perfect weekend. I wanted to find a genuine, authentic Japanese restaurant to have dinner with my wife (who loves Japanese food) and celebrate our anniversary. Not easy to find in the US (we are from São Paulo, where Japanese cuisine reins due to the large immigrant population). After 7 years living in the US, we found the one. Katami is our favorite so far. Not only the food is absolutely fantastic, but the service is outstanding (Brandon, our server knew everything about the menu and spent as much time as we wanted answering questions and listening to us. At the end, he surprised us with a glass of champagne each and an apple crumble to die for, as a gift for our anniversary. Absolutely loved this place. And, if you are not not a sushi fan like me, you can enjoy delicious vegetarians and meat based options, such as the A5 beef and the pork belly miso soup I had.“
“First visit here. Atmosphere is very loud and busy during lunch time. Very attentive staff. Ramen is good. It needed some salt. Only condiment on the table was soy sauce. The fish was very fresh. Sushi was good. Looking forward to next visit to try more items.“
“Everything about this place was extremely impressive — staff, cocktails, quality fish, ambiance, overall experience — and I will definitely return if/when back in Houston. We sat at the bar and had a great time. The staff was welcoming and professional. Highly recommend their tasting menu — best overall value I've ever had for a sushi restaurant.“
“Truly perfection, I'm in the hospitality industry, and I can tell you, I can't remember the last time I went to a restaurant that was simply perfect where everything from quality of food, presentation, the service, the cleanliness, the ambience in the restaurant, and the overall hospitality. The quality of the fish and rice served at Handies is a 10 out of 10! I'm sure most of these pictures speak for themselves, truly culinary perfection. Not sure there is a better hand roll and sashimi experience anywhere. If you haven't been you have to give this place a try.“
“This was a lot of fun! The experience from start to finish was delightful, imaginative and intimate. The food was on point and very elevated as expected at this price point. The service was fantastic, as the setup allows for the chef to have plenty of interaction with the guests and Chef Marcos was very engaging and enthusiastic about explaining the different techniques, fish and his own sushi history with us as we dined. My wife and I are no novices to sushi, omakase or tasting menus in general and this experience was both unique and memorable. I should note the restaurant is BYOB, they did share a sake shot welcome cheers for everyone and the passion fruit mocktail was excellent.“
“My friend brought me here to celebrate my birthday and it didn’t disappoint. What a great omakase experience. The chef and his support team were friendly, accommodating, and efficient. We enjoyed the humor and jokes as well as the participation of other guest in the experience. I believe I counted 14 dishes and none of them disappointed. I enjoyed each of them equally. I must say the otoro does stand out but all equally fresh and prepared perfectly. The birthday sparkler added to the dessert for those celebrating a birthday was a nice gesture at the end. I’m looking forward to my next visit.“
“omg i was completely impressed by this sushi restaurant. the atmosphere once inside is pleasant and elegant. We recommend the tiger roll and the ichigo roll. The service was also exceptional, attentive staff. I am most definitely returning and trying new rolls!! 10/10!! :))“
“Had a wonderful dinner with friends with super affordable price! Everything was perfect from food to service and atmosphere. All of the employees are friendly and helpful. We can’t even pick one of our favorite because every bite was amazing and memorable ?“
“Whenever I first came I wasn't expecting the food to be anything special but I was blown away. The food was incredible and the service was super good. 10/10 I recommend this for anyone. The only two complaints is that the sushi is pretty mid but that's fine because that's not even their speciality and it's in sugar land. They should open up a second location near the Galleria or downtown.“
“We went to Roka to celebrate a new job! It's one of the date night/special occasion spots in our rotation. The ambiance and decor is nice, service is great, but the food really steals the show. Top tier! Everything I've had is phenomenal!! The crispy fried squid, Robata grilled octopus, and sweet corn you MUST try. All AMAZING. The cheesecake desert is insane, completely delicious. To be honest though everything we have had there is good. The prime ribeye, the sushi rolls, the pork belly, the wagyu beef dumplings, and the yuzu miso black cod, yellowtail are all amazing and in rotation. Also If you enjoy a cocktail they have this Margarito with Tajin that is solid! I'm picky so not easy to please. Roka is top tier.“
“Such a cool sushi bar. Absolutely everything we ordered immediately became a new favorite, and the foie gras nigiri was on par with Uchi's offering. Super friendly staff, fun funky atmosphere, and great location. Totally fantastic, we'll be back soon!“
“Really interesting menu. Loved the tuna tower the best! Loved the yellowtail appetizer as well. My nephew got the burger, did not like the bun it was in, but loved the meat. Good specialty rolls, nice ambiance and good service. Food came out fast. Wouldn't get the dumplings again, the dumpling sauce was a little weak. My favorite roll was the Mando. Yum!“
“This place is a gem! It is small yet super homey. Reminds me of small homey Japanese restaurants/bars we used to go to growing up in Taiwan. Service is great and the people chat with their customers about random stuff like a friend would. I see them doing that we several customers each time I'm here and thought that is the neatest thing a restaurant could offer in this time in age. Will keep coming here!“
“Fantastic service; very accommodating and friendly.Food was delicious; surpassed expectations.Atmosphere was comfortable and inviting.Fair pricing all around.Definitely recommend.Vegetarian options: Coupla soups, coupla salads, some sushi, and entree options.Dietary restrictions: Will reasonably accommodate diet restrictions.Parking: Plenty of it.Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly, not aggressively so.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible.“
“The food here is absolutely delightful and flavorful. The ambiance is incredible, perfect for a date. The service is punctual and the staff takes pride in describing the meal. Every aspect of the dining experience is described with precision. The kitchen is constantly working on masterpiece after masterpiece. Overall, the experience is delightful and the desserts are killer. Not one staff seemed out of place and constantly kept the momentum of the restaurant moving.“
“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Koi. It was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff, and the ambiance was both elegant and inviting. The hand roll selection was exceptional, with each dish beautifully presented.“
“Well-balanced and flavorful rolls and tasty apps make for a great dining experience here. Great service too. Look forward to my next visit. So far I’ve tried Nando and Millennium rolls, crudo, nigiri, gyoza, crab puffs, and karaage - all delicious.Dietary restrictions: My party had an avocado allergy and our servers made note and continuously communicated with us about that.“
“Very intimate dining experience to say the least! It actually took some time to even find this hidden gem. TINS completely exceeded my expectations from the ambiance to the amazing food. The omakase provides 14 courses with each bite better than the last! Each bite of fish was just so fresh and flavorful. The chefs really come up with the most unique and delicious sauces for each dish. The service is also impeccable. Overall, I had a fantastic time at this spot. The food was out of this world, and the drinks just kept coming. I can't wait to give them another try in the future!“
“Love how Neo pays attention to the smallest details to ensure a fine dining experience. The staff were attentive and respectful, Chef was knowledgeable and talented, and food was incredible. We went on 3/4/24 for the Sushi Omakase and our favorites were Masu, Madai Crudo, Maitake, and the Maguro Handroll. Highly recommend!“
“Our server was outstanding, actually the whole service team was amazing! Jennifer (manager) came to our table and was very friendly and recommended several menu items! Our favorite was the tuna foie gras. Thank you everyone for a wonderful dinner!“
“As always we had a great experience at Uchiko. Eric took excellent care of us with the (s)omakase tasting, and it made for a really special birthday dinner for our son since Uchiko is his favorite restaurant. Thanks to Eric and all the team for great service, exceptional fish, and a fun night.“
“The staff is so friendly the moment you walk in the door. The atmosphere with the j-pop music in the background is different and cool. The menu is beautiful and clearly written. Now, the food…. Wow! It looks like the pictures in the menu and taste so much better than it looks. This is a fantastic restaurant and you will be very happy you went. If you are a Karen, please leave your fake medical device at home.“
“I use to visit this restaurant before covid. Back in the area I was surprised to see it still operating...thankful as this place is awesome great food and quick service if you get there early. Local like most places in this area serves excellent sushi. “
“Ten Sushi Cocktails in Houston delivers a top-notch dining experience, made even better by the exceptional service of waitress Stephanie. Her expertise in describing the menu and recommending top-selling sushi and entrees added a delightful touch to our evening, ensuring we enjoyed every bite. Stephanie's attentiveness and knowledge made our visit truly memorable. Highly recommend Ten for both the food and the service!“
“I'm a vegetarian and even I enjoyed the all you can eat experience. They have a couple veggie rolls but also have vegetarian fried rice, miso soup, tempura, and a couple different tofu dishes to select from. Service was excellent and food was delicious for AYCE“
“I went last weekend, and I really like this place! The drinks are delicious, and the atmosphere and staff are very friendly, I had the opportunity to know the location of city center, but now that this is closer from my home, I know it's a yes for me!“
“Simply amazing! First time ever eating at a hot pot style restaraunt. ? I enjoyed the miso soup. We picked ribyeye, lamb and pork to start, then worked our way through all the different meats. The ribeye was my favorite followed by chicken and brisket. The buffet was fresh! I tried the fish balls and learned they were not my cup of tea. The shrimp were big and delicious. Everything was great, the service was quick and friendly. The owner was gracious and humble when receiving my complement on the way out. I just wish we could bring home the leftover broth. ? I'm so full but it would make a good midnight snack. ? ... keep up the good work!“
“I’m writing this review a little late. I went in In December with my sister and her friends and tried their broth noodles. We each loved our own choice of soup. I got the ‘kakuni’ it has a salty taste to it which I like when paired with the noodles. My sister got the ‘Niku niku’ this has a flavorful broth. It reminded me a lot of the Vietnamese pho. When I came back with my friends after January I got the ‘mentako cream’ (I think I spelled that wrong) with katsu. I liked the cold noodles, but the noodles weren’t very filling (I could have just been really hungry). The broths were more filling and are still my favorite.“
“Excellent Asian fusion restaurant. Food is delicious, service too. I was there before trying the sushi and this time the hibachi. No disappointment both of the times. The owner super friendly, we finished our evening with a sake on the house, exquisite. We will be back for sure, this is the way every restaurant should treat you… food fresh, seafood cooked to perfection. Thank you very much“
“We came here for a family dinner. This is our first experiencing this place. The staff are very pleasant and listen to your requests if any that are specific.Hot Garlic Edamame to delicious. The sushis that we tried were all so good that we ended up reordering them again ;-).We will come back again.“
“This restaurant just might have served me this best food I’ve had in Houston in yearsss!!The food was phenomenal and the service went above and beyond ?We had our waiter choose our menu items and everything was delicious!!10/10 would recommend this spot for a great date night!!“
“Such a great spot for lunch and they have afforable prices! I got a shaggy dog and the tempura shrimp and they tasted great. The service is really good too and the food comes really fast. I was not feeling my best so the miso soup tasted great and also helped me feel better.“
“Cleaned our plates and really enjoyed the appetizers, we loved the following:GYOSO, MIXED FRIED RICE, and theTHE CRUNCHY ROLL.We also had the MILLENNIUM ROLL and the MASTER ROLL, I kinda liked those but they weren't meant for my taste.Inside is clean and well kept, I really like the "tex-mex shushi" aspect to it. If has a familiar environment because of the "mex" part. Some small downsides,I wish they gave extra mini plates for our dishes. We did have to ask for our finished dishes to be removed from the table and for refills, would've been nice for that to be done when our server came to the table.Other than that service was friendly and I would recommend to check this place this out.Parking: Small-ish parking lotWheelchair accessibility: Ramp leads to the door“
“The new AYCE menu is a sweet deal and offers super high beef while costing a fair amount of money. Without the AYCE option, it ends up costing too much to feel full here. I like the location being away from main Chinatown area as it has become too crowded and stressful on Bellaire. Would return to Shabu Squared as I was very pleased with the quality and service!“
“This spot is absolutely amazing! It has become my new weekly spot for extremely fresh and tasty food. All of the items on the menu were made with great attention to detail ?Yong was our server and he was extremely nice and helpful. They have an all you can eat or a la carte options. ?“
“Iwa Ya on Bellaire Blvd hit the spot for lunch today! The atmosphere was inviting, and the service was quick and friendly. We dove into their delicious spider roll, savoring the fresh ingredients and perfect texture. The katsudon was another winner, with its crispy pork cutlet and flavorful sauce. Even the miso and corn chowder soup impressed, offering a warm and comforting start to the meal. And to top it off, the prices were reasonable! Highly recommend Iwa Ya for a satisfying and enjoyable lunch experience.“
“I am obsessed with their Curry Ramen & Seafood Fried Rice. I’ve been here (dine in or takeout) 4 times in two months. The sushi is also pretty tasty! This is my favorite for Ramen bc they have so many options and I prefer a ramen with shrimp. The servers are nice and atmosphere is pleasant, although sometimes I can smell (what I assume is) the fumes from the nail salon near the restaurant, so takeout is my preference.“
“Long waitlist if you don’t reserve in advance. Reason: arguably the most affordable sushi place in Houston. Especially during happy hour (til 7pm during the week, 6pm on Sat)We waited 45min on Sat for a table of 2. Menu is large. Service took a bit long. The taste and flavor was not the best - but good enough, especially for this price. Not sure what to recommend - nice place for a casual lunch/dinner. Wouldn’t bring a date or friend who is a foodie“
“This is my go to sushi spot when I want clean good tasting sushi. It is also my takeout favorite. You cannot beat their 3 sushi roll deal.My only complaint is that the parking is really tight and the dining area is not big, but they do a very good job of making sure they take care of you.“
“Gia was my waiter. Friendly and upbeat, but not annoyingly. For was great like always. Everything was exactly how I expected, same as last time. If any constructive feedback needed, the couches in the back need replacements. The value meal was enough for my husband and I with left “
“I come to eat here often, I love the sukiyaki soup. There are a variety of meats, seafood, fresh vegetables, dipping sauces, fruits, and ice cream. If you like shabu, I recommend you come and try eating here at least once. You might like it as much as I do.“
“I came around 9PM and when we walked in we were immediately sat down and our waitress, Sophia was really kind and understanding about everything I enjoyed her service! I had the spicy garnet ramen and I liked how the broth tasted, the takoyaki was REALLY good but if you don’t like fish/sushi I wouldn’t recommend it. I also really liked the music they were playing. (Beabadoobee, jungkook, ichiko aoba etc.) Overall the experience was great and I would come again.Dietary restrictions: My brother asked about anything that didn’t have shrimp and our waitress helped him out!“
“This is honestly one of my top ramen places that I've tried in Houston. I had heard that the ramen here is very authentic, so I had to try it out for myself. I came here on a week night for dinner, and unfortunately, they were a bit understaffed. There appeared to be only one server for all of the tables, so it did take a while for him to take our order. I'm writing this review a few months later from when I tried this restaurant, so I hope that has changed now. He was very friendly though. I tried the tonkotsu gachi ramen. It was VERY delicious and flavorful. It didn't feel overly heavy like some other ramen places that I've tried. I can say that this does taste pretty authentic. I like the location of this place too because I live around here, and it's easy access for people around the medical center to go to. I hope this place stays here for a while! I would absolutely come back.“
“We have been searching for a good and affordable all you can eat sushi place, and we really like this place. Sashimi, sushi, soups, salads all very tasty. Kids pay by age which was also very nice. And the lady who attended us was great taking in consideration my kids and what they needed. She was very interested that kids ate something they like. She made things easy.Kid-friendliness: My kids loved sushi. They loved this place.“
“Overall had a great experience! We started at the hidden bar which was pretty neat. The drinks were great! My friend had an off menu drink that was pretty tasty. After the remainder of the part arrived we went back to the main dining area. It is bar sitting style with the items being prepared in the middle. I like the idea but if your party is larger than 2 it makes it a little harder to talk. The server walked around the parameter and sometimes it would take a bit for him to return back to us. I would have preferred to order from someone in the middle. They also started making everything when he put in the order instead of plating appropriately. Our crudo was coming out at the same time as our hand rolls and we all know those are time sensitive. It would have been nice to have more time to reflect on each item versus rushing through. The items we ordered were delicious. It's a more of a taco style vs standard hand roll. Prices are slightly more that comparable but appropriately so as it seems to be more generous with the fish or equivalent so that justified the cost. Everything we ordered was worth trying again.Make reservations as there isn't a ton of seating. I believe you can walk in and go to the bar which had some bites. Parking was good on a Sunday night. Don't miss the bathroom! Overall worth checking out. Will be back!“
“Really good sushi, fresh, good yellowtail and rice is nicely cooked, the soy bean paper was good as well. I was impressed with the size of the sushi for the price got 4 rolls and 2 pieces, plus some chicken skewers that were tender in a ponzu sauce.“
“I recently dined at Sasaki Japanese Restaurant in Houston, Texas, and it was an absolute delight! The food was exceptional, Here are some highlights:*Flavorful Sushi and Sashimi: The sushi and sashimi were incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and had authentic Japanese flavors.*Intimate Atmosphere: Sasaki is a cozy little gem tucked away on Westheimer Road. The intimate ambiance adds to the overall experience. It’s perfect for a quiet dinner or a special occasion.*Attentive Service: The staff at Sasaki went above and beyond to make our dining experience memorable. From recommendations to timely service, they truly cared about our satisfaction.I wholeheartedly recommend Sasaki. It’s a hidden gem that deserves more recognition.“
“We tried to find restaurants on Valentines Day but everywhere had a wait time of 30 minutes or longer. When we came here there was barely any wait time and we got to enjoy fresh and quality sushi. Out of all sushi restaurants I ate at in this area, this is my now go-to spot. It's small and has the nice cozy izakaya vibe.“
“Came with a date, she had the Sushi, I ate from one of the other concepts, but the pieces I managed to steal whilst she wasn't looking were fantastic! We split the tuna nacho's to start, which were unique and really tasty too.Pro tip, order through the QR codes and they'll bring the drinks to you - really useful if you're having a couple of drinks at the bar, which is surprisingly good for a food hall!“
“I come here every time I'm in town. It's honestly one of the best sushi places you will find. It's perfect for date night or for a solo meal. If you're dining alone sit at the bar. Tell the bar tender what you like and your allergies if any then let them order for you. It's a great way to try new things and get the whole experience this place had to offer! Make sure to get the fried milk for a dessert. I can't tell you how many times I have come in just for this!“
