Laredoens tell me...."This is the original Panos bakery." "A Laredo icon". "A staple food since 1968!" As a güero from NY (western not NYC!) I always found Laredo pastries to be less sugary...which I used to detest, but now after 15 years here, I appreciate the subtle sweetness of the concha and the crumbly crust of a cajeta. The best sweet bread you can eat I feel sad that they only have it in Laredo Texas cause I live in Austin Texas when I go over there people here give me money so I can bring them some from $ 30 to$ 45 of sweet bread and they last so long they are crazy good
