Very disappointed with my experience. I come to Lubbock every month and have tried lots of different spots. I kept waiting to go to double nickel and finally gave it a go tonight. First off I ordered my food and my salad came out 2 seconds before my steak arrived. No big slower night, I like to taste throughout my meal anyway. The steak it self was fine...nothing special but also not terrible, creamed corn tasted like it was frozen corn that hadn't been recooked. Again not terrible but not a 55$ entree either. (Also the menu had a different price for the ribeye but nonetheless) My bartender/server (I sat at the bar) not once checked in on me until the food was gone. For my money I will choose to return to west table or la sirena

Do not eat here. Among the worst dining experiences we’ve had. The ownership has an air of entitlement and arrogance, which we only found out because the management was pedestrian and useless. The food is more or less decent, nothing to write home about. Overall, If you’re looking for a good night out at a steakhouse, there are plenty of options around Lubbock. Save yourself the regret.

Outstanding service and food! Highly recommend. I was frustrated because Texas Roadhouse was right next door and it had an extremely long wait. We walked right in to an even better experience.

Having dined there several times, I found the experience to be less than before. We were interrupted several times. Three times to tell us about some complimentary drink that we had declined. The manager interrupted our conversation to tell us to let her know if we needed anything. At the end of the meal, some friends stopped by our table to visit and during that time, two waitstaff were in the way as they were boxing up our leftovers. There were just too many interruptions.
I cannot say enough about this restaurant!!! First class! We come here every year for our anniversary dinner. The atmosphere is so cozy & quiet, the food is absolutely amazing, and the staff is superb!!! Thank you Lisa West?

This place is old school fancy. No hats on in the building. Drunks are fantastic, food is out of this world, and the services matches. The desserts are all HUGE and very good, and they will even light the bananas foster on fire at your table if you want them too. If you ask for a to go wrap instead of a box, they wrap your leftovers in foil and make a swam out if it. I've never been anything but 100% pleased with my experience at the Double Nickel.
My spouse and I traditionally go here for our anniversary dinner. The ambiance is great, and the food was good, but service was an issue. We observed several tables that were seated after us or that we saw ordering well after we placed our main order receive their food 20+ minutes before ours finally came out. All told, we had to wait somewhere in the neighborhood of 65-70 minutes from ordering for our food to arrive. After waiting for about 35 minutes, wait staff indicated was coming out soon. Fifteen minutes later, there was a cursory apology, but no food. Tables around us were being attended to promptly, but it felt very much like we were being ignored. We'll be thinking very hard about whether to go back. I would probably recommend Double Nickel to friends, but only for larger parties, and now only with heavy recomendations. Since I wouldn't recommend them unconditionally, in answer to the OpenTable question, I have to say 'no.'

Not pleased with our waiter. Filet tough as nails. House salad was swimming in dressing, I mean literally. Crème brûlée was not good at all. This was an unusual experience for us as we have never had an issue before. We did not complain and will be back. Hopefully it was a one and done bad experience.
We have dined at Double Nickel several times over the years, mainly for special occasions. We have always had the lobster bisque and have always loved it. We went there last night for our anniversary and the lobster bisque was not good to us. It seems the recipe has changed and not to our liking. I even had to ask if this was lobster bisque as it tasted to us like a tomato bisque and had no pieces of lobster in it. In the past it had lobster in it. Other than that the rest of the meal was delicious as it usually is. The waitress and service was great and the atmosphere was very comfortable. We had steak and salmon and both were perfectly prepared and delicious. I do recommend Double Nickel for it's great steaks and seafood, it's delicious wine and atmosphere.

The food here is always excellent. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Side dishes are delicious. The orange cake was sublime. It was New Year's Eve, with good service with a couple of glitches, nothing major. Much less hectic than last year's New Year's Eve. We will be back.

We have been to Double Nickel 3 times in past 2 years. Had a great time on each visit. Service is very good and on point for this type of restaurant and expense. All food was prepared well, temperature perfect, and better proportion than similar steakhouses of same price range. Highly recommend.

My name is John Day. My wife and I took 4 guests with us that have never been to an upscale restaurant. The sampler appetizer was unimpressive. The crap had nothing to eat it with. All the meats on the tray were cold. The lobster bisque was served lukewarm and lacked any flavorful taste. The bread was served cold and was clearly a low grade product. The ribeye steaks were not evenly seasoned and one of them was severely overcooked. The deserts were fantastic. The server was not very attentive but she was adequate. As a whole, it was a poor experience and it shamed me to serve such a poor meal to my guests. We will not be returning to your establishment. The bill was $538 and I left an additional $100 in gratuity. We were served there on 12/23/2023.

Double Nickel does it well. We've had steak there many times and it's always really, really good. This time she had salmon and I had sea bass. Salmon was extremely good. Sea Bass is a bit boring. Shouldn't go to a steakhouse and have seafood. Service was top notch, as always. Atmosphere is old school steakhouse, slightly dark and pretty quiet.
