“Whenever we visit the river camp nearby, we always make sure to go to this restaurant. The variety, choices and food quality are amazing for the price. We enjoy the large glasses of Horchata that they serve very much!”
“They catered our 500 person wedding and the food and service could not have been better! We have received so many compliments, and Sarah was so easy to work with, I could not recommend them more!”
“First time, and will definitely be back! I enjoyed the catfish and shrimp, the Cajun potato salad (yum!) And the red beans and rice. My husband the shrimp po'boy. Food/ingredients are great quality, fresh and prepared with love, delicious! The side sauce was so good, we asked for a second little serving. Can't wait to taste the rest of the menu! Great ambiance too! It was such a pleasure to dine with jazz playing smoothly, (and not too) loud in the background.”
“I have been to sushi spots all over the US, and I can say this has hit my top 3 favorite sushi spots great lofi relaxed authentic atmosphere and the staff is awesome food is hands down amazing and made with passion!Heavily recommend especially for an intimate simple sushi date.”
“Really love this place but lately it seems they are struggling to maintain their regular hours of operation. Perhaps its a staffing issue like so many restaurants right now. It would be nice if they would update their situation via Facebook or put a recording on their phone. I'm praying for them to overcome, I would love to give them some business if they would open.”
“Great place! Was in the area and saw this hidden gem tucked away in the corner of a strip mall on Pat Booker Rd. Served me with a smile and pleasant attitude, even though I was dining alone. The restaurant is clean and the cuisine was delicious! I had the veal parmigiana which isn’t easy to find in the San Antonio area. Thank you!”
“The other day, my dad and I visited The Purple Pig and were extremely happy after lunch. The service was excellent from the moment that we walked through the door. The young ladies in the front were very welcoming. My dad and I ordered a baked potato for lunch. I had a potato with brisket. The brisket was beautifully seasoned, and cooked to perfection. My dad loved his potato with sliced sausage. My dad said that the sausage was well seasoned, and very tender. We both chose the sweet sauce for our sauce of choice with our potatoes. The sweet sauce was amazing. The sauce had a perfect balance of and sweet and spicy without going over the top. In my opinion, the sweet sauce definitely needs to be bottled and sold. The inside of the restaurant had a perfect laid-back vibe. Purple is my favorite color, so I loved everything about the inside and outside. They were playing old-school R&B music inside the restaurant. Personally, I loved it because those songs reminded me of a simpler time. I thought that choice of music was a perfect touch. For drinks, my dad had a sweet tea, which he said was amazing. I had an Arnold Palmer, which was delicious. Overall, this restaurant is a definite must try. The only thing that I would say is that they need to change is the size of the drinks because I did not feel like my drink was big enough I definitely could have used a bigger drink.”
“This is a family owned business. Get out there and support it.The Loco Moco was the best I have had since I was in Hawaii. The Katsu chicken is the best. Crispy light a favorable. The staff friendly from the time you walk in till the time you leave.”
“I would say this place is very nice inside and clean with an upbeat atmosphere. You will enjoy the drinks and I know you will share the word around about this amazing place.”
“Good Puerto Rican food, frappes and selection of drinks. Fast and humble service. Great lunch break food and on the road food. Big plates made with love for their craft.”
“Simple lunch and a glass of wine was exactly what I needed on a Sunday afternoon. The crispy Brussels and Korean Brisket Tacos were amazingly delicious, fresh and impressive. A glass of Chardonnay was chilled and enjoyable. The atmosphere was a laid back and the service was friendly. Most definitely going back again soon.”
“My husband has been raving about the Fideo Loco for some time. He says he gets it everytime he has a business meeting here...he wasn't wrong. It was the best I've ever had. Service was fast and friendly and pricing was very reasonable. We will be back!!”
“Very good foodMy dinner plate was the pineapple plate but no pineapple ???????On the other hand The Service wasn't very good.... It took over an hour for from when we walking in to get our food....Wasn't very busy!!!!And after we got our food we never got attendance anymore!!!!No one asked if we needed anything else!!!Very sad because we did like the food! But probably won't go back!Sorry”
“Good mexican place, small family owned. Very friendly and fast service, This place never to busy, food and service great, staff always very friendly. Stopped by for breakfast Tacos this morning after 5k run, tacos and service was great as usual.”
“Kids have gotten addicted to these doughnuts. I normally get there by 530am, and its pretty neat to watch how they make them. They are always super soft, moist, and never dry. They are definitely thicker than your Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, but just as soft, if not softer. which is what I love about this place. We always get the pink and chocolate sprinkled, regular glazed and doughnut holes. The doughnut holes are addictive hahaha. They are small enough just to pop them in your mouth with coffee.”
“I come here frequently and always appreciate their attention to detail and clear appreciation for their craft. I love their house made syrups and consistent drinks. I took the time to write this review because today I absentmindedly walked in at 5:15pm while they were visibly closed (at 5pm). They stopped what they were doing and made my drinks. I would have understandably left without question, but their willingness to make the drinks has made me a loyal customer.”
“New location! Seafood done well is the attraction. I had the catfish and shrimp special. My wife had seafood gumbo. My friends had shrimp po-boys. The portions were generous for the price. All were tasty. We all had fried entrees. I'll have to try broiled next time and look for healthier options, but an occasional splurge is okay, right?”
“This Place is just Beautiful. The view inside is pure enjoyment and as you step outside and look around it's a Pure Texas Experience. The staff and venue is Awesome”
“The restaurant is clean, bright, and has plenty of tables. I received excellent customer service. I ordered the Buckhorn grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. My son got the cheeseburger with fries. This was our first time here and I was pleasantly surprised by the food. It was made to order, not greasy at all, and very flavorful. Definitely recommend.”
“Lunch here was a pleasant surprise! Chicken sandwich was delicious and the sweet tea was just the right balance of sweetness. The best part for me was the hometown service.”
“I get it. Lots of options. You are sitting in your comfortable house in San Antonio, or New Braunfels... browsing breweries. There are many closer to you than Cactus Land. You could opt for the 15 min drive.....sure. But, can I implore you to take the 35 min drive? Yes, the hours are weird...but you are smart. Check the website, you can figure it out. 1st and 3rd weekends of the month, Fri/Sat/Sun. Open the calendar app, make an appointment for yourself! With great risk comes great reward. CL is awesome! The beer is amazing, but the vibes are even better. If they are open, there will be food options. Awesome swag. The staff feels like family. No reason not to go! Drink local!”
“This was an amazing experience! I felt like I was at my grandmas house but the food was even better lol. The owner was so sweet I remember asking for some chile con queso she made it fresh right then and there. I also have NEVER liked any conchas until trying hers.”
“Just got a burger here, it was fantastic, it's a food truck but it's right next to a bar, she offered to bring our food inside. Good chill atmosphere, we'll be back!”
“If you haven't tried Righteous Tacos, you need to make it a plan to go! By far the best tacos I have had since moving to San Antonio. It's worth the drive and definitely worth the wait since they are open Thursday - Saturday. Fernando is an amazing owner and Chef! I try to make it as often as possible! They have corn hole boards, Axe throwing, big Jenga and even a small putt putt set up! Their smoked chicken, asada and al pastor are all so good it makes it hard to just choose one. Churros are so delicious as well. This will be my spot for tacos period!Kid-friendliness: My two boys were able to play freely without any interruptions. It's truly a family welcoming atmosphere!”
“Seen this place many times. Finally decided to give them a try, I'm definitely coming back! Place got packed, food is soo good, people were very attentive. Green salsa is very spicy, my personal fav. I'm hooked! Would have shared a picture of my food but It didn't make it lol. Give them a try!”
“I had the chicken kabobs with grilled vegetables. I'm normally not crazy about kabobs but will definitely buy this again!Everything grilled to perfection, portions were more than could finish(I had enough for 2 meals), and the prices are reasonable. Next plate I buy will be the chicken curry.”
“Wednesday night, cooler weather in March, moderate crowd, family friendly. The bar stools were all filled, but the single bar tender managed very well. There is a lot of seating throughout the inner building and exterior. There were at least 5 food trucks open, which is a lot more than other places we've been on a weeknight. The food at the "sisters tacos and more" food truck was extremely good. We had the corn in the cup and birria quesadilla, it wasn't the best I ever had, but they did not skimp on the birria! The only thing keeping me from 4 stars is the liquor selection could have been larger. They had the basics and had decent cheap specialty drinks but could expand on liquor flavors and selections. I'd 100% recommend this spot and will be back!”
“A nice family place that we had lunch at. Everything was fresh ingredients, served hot to our table. The waitress was prompt, friendly and helpful in providing more information to us before we made our menu selection. Nice pictures and Italian feeling surroundings.Parking: There are about 20 free parking spots in front and beside Papa Dantes.Kid-friendliness: Welcomed our toddler and provided seating for him.Wheelchair accessibility: Able to get handicapped parking and my rollator into and out of Papa Dantes.”
“Friendly staff and great food options. The food is delicious! My only recommendation is putting more chicharrón de pollo in the plate. Like adding 6 pieces instead of 4. Otherwise, this place bomb!Keep striving for greatness guys! ?? ??”
“Food is good and service is great. Always friendly and welcoming environment. Our favorite are the breakfast tacos, but lunch plates have been tasty as well. Don’t forget to bring cash, it is ca$h only!”
