El Lugar has been a favorite of mine for many years. When I was in college at TJC I frequented El Lugar probably a couple time a week. I moved almost 20 years ago and my career as take me from Tyler to many states. I was back in town recently and OMG what a treat. Not only was I greeted by the same faces from 20 years ago the food was simply amazing. I was so glad to see they are still serving the people of East Texas so many years later and the food was as delicious as I remembered!

So like this place should be a 5 star , but their lack of renovation is what keeps them from being that .Their food is 5 star by far , but like their fridge can’t shut properly, and they never let people eat on the second floor which ruins the mood sometimes. Other than some renovation this place is great with high quality food.
