“Been coming here for decades. Fantastic fresh sushi import from Japan 3 times a week. A gem in Salt Lake, like no other. The only issue is how busy it gets. But you can spend time in their bar next door while you wait or get there 15 min. before they open, on the weekends, so you can seat immediately. They do accept reservations for parties of 6 or more but you have to call as soon as they open.“
“I had never heard of this place and was excited to try it out. It’s a beautiful restaurant on the inside, very nicely decorated. Each table has its own space and there were some larger rooms for bigger groups. The staff were incredible. They’re driving the 5-stars as the food was decent, but nothing too impressive. The egg drop soup was hot but lacked any kind of flavor. The edamame needed to be steamed for a few more minutes as half were still cold and very few popped open very well. The sushi rolls were pretty solid. Nothing glaringly wrong with them and we ate all of the rolls we ordered. The kung pao chicken was very salty, borderline inedible. The fried rice with it was delicious as were the gyoza and the egg roll.“
“This place is chic, service is exceptional and sushi is fresh and delicious. We ordered toro sashimi, Stargazer and mercury roll, but when the toro came it was a grayish white color which had us worried. Everyone who loves sushi knows that Toro is supposed to be pink... but the waitress was really really helpful. She not only asked the kitchen staff about the reason for the color, she also returned the dish back to the kitchen after we said we didn't want it. We then ordered a wagyu steak fearing for their fish quality, but the rest of the sushi rolls were amazing with big chunks of juicy sashimi inside. I'm pretty sure Stargazer had bluefin tuna on the topping. The wagyu was delicious as well. cooked to perfection for both the meat and the lightly battered tempura asparagus. Over all pretty satisfying experience. I hope the toro sashimi was just a random error. Coming back to try more next time!“
“The Miso Ramen hits here! So good and balanced between the broth, toppings, and moods. Definitely won’t disappoint! The sushi is also pretty exceptional too. The Billy Billy and Volcano were some of my favorites. Service was friendly and helpful as well. The ambiance was also nice and updated as well and not over the top. My fave place in Salt Lake City so far!“
“Really fresh and delicious sashimi! But the portion is very small and the service can be improved. We had their large sashimi platter and it was not much. It consisted of 20 small pieces of sashimis: regular salmon, king salmon, escolar, tuna, yellowtail each 4 pieces. Delicious takoyaki and unagi maki is “
“Really nice place. Appropriate volume inside. We ordered an appetizer-skewer trio. Very delicious but personally i could taste the wooden skewers just a bit. Then we ordered crispy style sushi- spicy tuna with scallions and crunchy shallots. Pretty delicious! Rice was fried perfectly. I've had this at jinyas before and it was very oily. But this one was perfect. I'm just not sure the texture of the rice is my personal favorite. I would order again if I was with someone who's never had it like my mom or a friend.Secondly we had a tempura fried roll- DTH roll. P good. Not enough texture. Missing a veggie in this one. Would like to try a different roll next time.Husband got the dinner combination plate- tacos and steak. And chicken wings! Delicious“
“this place was packed on our Friday night visit. Luckily, there were only two of us, so they were able to save us pretty quickly. I actually really appreciated the fast service. Our server ordered our food quickly and brought out our food quickly. and I mean no mistakes. we ordered a variety of special roles, as well as ramen noodles, takoyaki, and warm sake. For the price you pay, you definitely get your bang for your buck.“
“Honestly the freshest fish I've had since moving here. The roll selection is good and the carpaccios and nigiri are top tier. Everytime we go (at this point it's at least a dozen times), the service is great, the food is delicious, and the restaurant is super clean. Also, they can make a great cocktail (rarely encounter a place that can make a proper Aviation). I hope to see the place do well and stick around.“
“We always have the best time when we visit from up North. This is the BEST hibachi grill around. They don’t mess around with their portions, we were bursting at the seams by the time we left. Jacky was our chef and he was so fun with our boys and even took the time to make them balloon samurai swords. They saw the free ice cream sign on the way out and somehow found a little bit of room for dessert.“
“This place is always amazing! I love their sushi. I highly recommend the tartare! There was only one time it was so busy we were waiting for our food for a while, but I enjoyed my friend’s company and think dining out shouldn’t be rushed(for the most part).“
“Great little hole-in-the-wall budget priced sushi with an added catch phase “burrito” enticing diners, who might otherwise be reluctant to indulge in raw fish fare. Popular with delivery apps, DoorDash and GrubHub these handeaten rice rolls are quicker than fast-food for a snack or lunch at the office. Not for all but worth a try as many repeat this healthy light indulgence.“
“Kyoto as wonderful! It was our first visit and we will definitely go again! The flavors were incredible, the staff was lovely, the sushi chef was fantastic. I can’t wait for our next visit. The food was so fresh and delicious! We got the lobster sushi roll, unagi, miso, steak plate, pickled vegetables and tempura. All were amazing!“
“My wife had the tempura seafood I had a salmon bento box. It was really a nice lunch that was value for money. The place got slammed with a lot of tables in a short time I think there was only once server and she really did a fantastic job. Filled waters checked on everybody and never stopped moving the 5 star review is for her and for a nice restaurant after having a bad experience a few minutes before. We had a rare lunch time open together on a weekday without kids. Thank you so much!“
“O’Shucks is my favorite bar in SLC! I’ve been coming here for years and have always been treated great by the staff. Nelson (best bartender in Utah) is a legend and is always attentive and great to chat with. Pop and Tony are also awesome and super kind.Shucks has incredible $3 schooner deals on Tuesdays and Wednesdays which keeps me coming back.“
“Probably one the better restaurants around the area, I love the jalapeno poppers, they are packed full of tuna and has that sushi taste to them. The fried rice tastes and looks like homemade fried rice, if it weren't for the bbq beef I ordered along with it, it tastes kind of plain. I plan to come back to get sushi instead next time.“
“This place is my new favorite sushi joint in SLC. It’s small, yes, but that just means that the service is fast. The servers are friendly and the owners work up front, greeting customers and prepping the food. And the sushi… fresh, creative combination as well as more traditional varieties. Sorry that I didn’t get a pic before it was half gone! Also, if you want a fresh take on a cocktail, try one of the sake-tinis. The peach blossom and the sunburned skier are so good and not sweet.“
“Out of the way place. Next to hotel but the storefront is not easy to spot off the main street. Rather nice interior with sports on 3 TV screens. Alcohol is served. Surprised they did not have takoyaki. Had the salmon teriyaki bento box. Good value. Close to the park.Kid-friendliness: There's a kid's menu!“
“I have lived in the Millcreek area for the last 5 years, however, I had never stopped by at this restaurant. I had driven by it so many times and figured I should finally try it. Right when I walked in, I was already enamored by the decor and the set up of the restaurant. The decor in the waiting area is almost like a section out of a museum. There are painting and masks on the walls. It's so interesting to look at and it makes the place look authentic. You get a glimpse of the set up of the restaurant from the waiting room and it is set up like a very authentic Japanese establishment. There are rooms where you can SIT ON THE FLOOR AND EAT ON A CUSHION AROUND A LOW TABLE like Japanese people did back in the day. Each table is sectioned off with authentic wood dividers with wooden lights and hanging sphere lights. I love the touches of the place! The food was delicious as well. There are not many sushi options as it seems more like a dish and side dishes type of place rather than a sushi house. I ordered the breaded pork combo dish that came with tempura, salad, and soup. I had no complaints with it! There was a good amount of food for the price of the combo. I also tried the Smart Roll. I did not realize the salmon was cooked in the roll until I received it. I was wanting a raw fish roll, but that was my mistake, I probably did not read the menu diligently enough. The roll was still delicious and I enjoyed it. A note though: It was stuffed with an abnormal amount of rice, so the ratio between things in the sushi roll and the amount of rice did not match up... There was a lot more rice. This place is a very cute place to come with a date or for an intimate get together with friends! I suggest getting a rice plate rather than sushi at this place. You get more bang for your buck that way and I think the dishes are better anyways!“
“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Dining Experience at Aqua Terra Steak + Sushi in City CreekI recently had the pleasure of dining at Aqua Terra Steak + Sushi in downtown Salt Lake City's City Creek, and I must say, it was a truly remarkable experience that exceeded all expectations. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed by the attentive and delightful server, Jordan. Her exceptional service added a whole new dimension to our dining experience, as she was not only attentive but also brought a fun and pleasant vibe to our table, making us feel right at home. The appetizers were nothing short of spectacular, but the standout for me was the skinny salmon roll. Each bite was a burst of fresh and flavorful ingredients that left me craving for more. The attention to detail and quality in every dish truly sets Aqua Terra apart. To complement the exquisite food, we indulged in some of the most delightful and unique cocktails I've ever had. Each sip was a tantalizing blend of flavors that perfectly complemented the meal and added an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening.Overall, my experience at Aqua Terra Steak + Sushi was nothing short of exceptional. From the delicious food to the impeccable service provided by Jordan, this restaurant truly stands out as a gem in downtown Salt Lake City. I highly recommend Aqua Terra to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience with top-notch cuisine and service. This is a five-star establishment that deserves all the praise it receives.“
“I stumbled across this small intimate feeling sushi place. I ordered the Shrimp Tempura Bento (substitute extra gyoza for california roll) & Vegetable Tempura. The tempura was very light & perfectly textured. The pumpkin & sweet potato are especially yummy. The bento box was beautifully displayed. The gyoza tasted delicious. The salad dressing a little tart to off set the rice, and tempura. The miso was warm and exactly what you expect from miso soup.Definitely a place I plan to come back to for another great dining experience.“
“This place is known for having a big dinner crowd, which makes it a great place to go for lunch because it’s quiet and the service is super fast. We found the food and presentation to be excellent and the prices are fair. A great place that’s been in business for more than 24 years owned by the same family. P. S. Very clean bathrooms.“
