“Food was pretty good though I think this is the first restaurant I’ve ever been asked to leave due to an incoming reservation. We (party of 3) were in the process of leaving anyways but being asked to leave when we’ve been there for under 45 minutes from our own reservation and sitting down at the table. Left a bad impression on an otherwise pleasant experience.“
“I just moved to Alexandria recently and I love Chinese food. One of my favorite dishes of all time is King Pao chicken. South China's King Pao was outstanding, the sauce was fire! ?5 stars, I highly recommend. A regular customer was earned at South China restaurant today! Can't wait to come back ??“
“This is our favorite sushi place in Old Town. Have been coming here since they opened maybe five years ago. The owner used to be a sushi chef at MoMo Sushi, which used to be our local favorite. His sushi here has consistently been top quality whereas we were disappointed with quality once or twice at MoMo and its always too cramped. We usually get the sushi combo.“
“The food tastes amazing! Highly recommend the noodles. The XLB was really good, but pricey at $14 for only 6 dumplings. Definitely one of the top Chinese restaurants in the Alexandria area. Worth going for the food! But prepare to drop some money for the food. The interior decoration is very aesthetic, has a very traditional Chinese vibe inside.“
“I had the beef with broccoli and fried rice! Everything was tasty. 4 starts because I also had the hot and sour soup and it was bad. Tasted burnt and I’m sad because the soup was the reason I ordered :(Some restaurants get it absolutely right and others…. Well ?“
“First time trying this highly recommended Chinese restaurant and I was very happy with how fast the delivery was and how hot and fresh ALL of the food was! We fed a bigger group so we ordered a variety of foods such as sesame chicken (juicy and fresh not old and dry), broccoli and chicken (so fresh), pork fried rice, pork lomein, egg drop soup, hot and sour soup and crab Rangoon! Seriously all of the food had so much flavor and all came hot and fresh! Definitely ordering from here again!“
“It's one of the better places for carry out Chinese food. I recommend it for the neighborhood we lived in, which is the Lincolnia part of Alexandria Their egg drop soup is the best I've ever tasted having visited most of not all Chinese restaurants in Alexandria. Their egg serving is much more their others!“
“I live down the street so this is my local Chinese place, and I love it! Love the egg drop and wonton soup and they must think I am crazy cause I regularly order just soup from them. But everything else I have had is also good - fried rice, lo mein, the basics. Always ready on time when I walk in! Thanks from the crazy soup “
“we wanted to skip the crowds on lunar new years, and sampan cafe alexandria came highly recommended by my younger sibling. very uncomplicated good food, especially during a time where dim sum spots in va are declining or experiencing price inflation. this was probably the most affordable, and the quality was excellent -- almost everything was cooked perfectly. leftovers tasted super good in the air fryer too.“
“I was very impressed by this placed. I tried China Cafe by chance because my regular place was closed. They were quick with service and the pricing wasn't bad. The food was flavorful and fresh. I was happy with my experience. Definitely will be coming back.“
“Ordered take out, dinner platter. Huge potions, fresh hot and piping food, service with a smile. The Schezwan Chicken and General Tso's were tasty, Kung Pao had a lot of veggies and was saucy in a good way. Came with chicken fried rice which was flavorful and crispy large sized spring rolls - both included in the dinner platter. Definitely a place to frequent.“
“I was thinking about getting sushi and this place came up in my search. The sushi was good. I went with two options that I knew couldn't get messed up. Shrimp tempura and a sweet potato roll. Both rolls were filling. The shrimp and veggie tempura appetizer was just flat. I think it's because it's just tempura and no seasoning on the veggies or shrimp so the taste is Just bland.“
“I'm sorry that I dove right in an forgot to take pictures for the masses!Just got delivery and it was great! I have been in the DMV for decades and it took me until today to find this takeout place that had similar to NYC.Food:The wings were the old school fried style that I love crispy, but still tender.Yay, pork egg rolls in actual egg roll wrappers not spring roll wrappers!Hot and Sour soup that's tangy and did not skimp on the ingredients.Moo Sho was delightful with perfectly cut/shredded veg and meat.General Tso's, I only wish I could have added more broccoli for an up charge but that's hard to do when Doordash does not give you the option. Super tasty otherwise and I will add my additional broccoli.“
“Ok firstly our pickup order did take an hour to be prepared but it was so good. The crab Rangoons were filled and crunchy! The Singapore noodles and general tso had great flavor. I was so impressed. You can tell it's a hard working family that runs this place“
“Amongst the best egg rolls in the area. While the General Tso's Chicken was good, there was nothing "hot and spicy" about it. Either I'll refry it with some red pepper flakes or try the kung pao chicken next.Parking: Dumb shared lot with other businesses“
“Ninhao! ?? ?? ?Absolutely awesome “carry-out/to-go only” Chinese fare to satisfy you & your family! Fast, convenient, and soooo flavorful! — Really friendly and smiling counter-gal ready to serve up a plethora of delicious dishes… for just as YOU wishes! ??Xie-Xie! ??????“
“My husband and I were coming here ones in a while before even our family grew. Love this place: very cozy, family friendly, warm service and always creative on dish decoration that turn our evenings into small life celebration. Thank you to the team ❤️And highly recommend to others ?“
“Very good restaurant and flexible. The chef made me a sugar-free, sauce-free chicken chow mein. It was delicious. Glad I didn't have to stick to the steamed diet food menu. My husband raved about his Kung pao beef. (We brought our own soy sauce because sometimes restaurant soy sauce has sugar, but I don't know about their's because I didn't ask. Next time I may try to get a sugar-free sauce free chicken with eggplant, if they will do it.“
“We decided to give Good Luck another try - I was a little nervous, as our previous experience was years ago, and it wasn't that memorable. We were craving for some Americanized Chinese fare, and we had read that this place serves up some good chow fun - so, we placed an order in-person and ordered the following: +Crab Rangoon - these were more flat and didn't have much filling, but it was still a good app to start off with; the sweet & sour dipping sauce wasn't overly sweet, either, which was great +Beef Chow Fun - this was pretty tasty; the noodles were slightly overcooked, but the flavors were spot on, and it was of a generous portion; definitely not as salty, which we appreciated, but you can doctor it up with some soy sauce and chili oil +General Tso's Shrimp - the shrimp was large, and you can request this to be extra spicy; however, there was no kick +Szechuan Crispy Beef - these were on the overly sweet side, as the sauce is definitely that; however, the beef itself was crispy, and you can request this to be extra spicy which may give a very slight kick to it The rice that comes with the entrees were forgettable; they were kind of clumpy and mushy, and seemed kind of discolored. Note that this place is strictly a carry-out, so you'll have to call ahead and place orders or place orders in person; the place is definitely popular, as the phone continued to ring, and there were patrons coming in often for a pickup. Staff are pretty friendly and efficient. There are a couple of chairs inside you'd like to wait for your order. Parking available in the front. +beef chow fun +friendly & efficient staff +parking available“
“Y'all, the Mongolian beef was straight fire, not spicy, but very flavorful, tender cuts of beef and plenty of it, and if it's not flame-grilled it missed a damn good chance. Fried dumplings were honestly pretty mid but the egg roll was decent and food was delivered piping hot. Overall, great experience. Will definitely try “
“Best Chinese take out in the area. Nice people, clean, excellent food. Love the Kung Pao Chicken and vegetarian spring rolls.Vegetarian options: My wife really likes the diet tofu and broccoli with the sauce on the side.Parking: It's in Hollin Hill strip mall, so plenty of parking.“
“My family and I ate here twice, this past week, while on vacation. Our server, Jasmine was incredibly nice and attentive on both occasions. On top of that, almost everything we ordered was very delicious! The restaurant also has a kid’s menu (e.g. Mac & Cheese, chicken nuggets, etc.) that comes in very handy if your kids aren’t partial to Indian food yet :)“
