We went to Commonweath for restaurant week. This was the three course meal for $29. The meal was fine, except for the duck confit. The duck confit looked more like soup. The portion was somewhat small for all of us. There were 4 of us and we all ordered the $29 special. The bill came to $198, not including tip. Hot take - commonwealth is one of the best restaurant downtown. Unfortunately it is conflated with Skybar which is what it is...a late night dancing bar and sometimes a mess. But for this review I'm focused on commonwealth, the restaurant. They are bringing back brunch with the new chef in March, last time I had brunch there and he (Andrew) cooked it, it was hands down the best offered in cville. A pretty cool restaurant in the Downtown Mall of Charlottesville. Like it says it's a Skybar when that is open during nicer weather. They have a really nice indoor area with good food, seating, and some really, really interesting and distinct drink cocktails and other offerings. I definitely suggest looking carefully at said menu - you might find some very unique and tasty treats!
