Did a dinner meeting for 40 people there tonight. Simon and his team were top notch and the food did not disappoint. Looking forward to doing my next event there.

Amazing birthday meal. My son’s dessert plate was the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. We sat in a dining room with only 3 other tables, so it was a cozy environment. We had shrimp and grits, oysters, scallops, trout, pork chops, key lime pie, creme brulee, and apple crisp (not pictured because we got it to go).Parking: The lot reasonable. We did fine at 5:45 and if we much less busy then than when we came out.I’m one of those people who gets parking anxiety and would rather leave than deal with difficult parking. This lot didn’t make me feel that way.

The best oysters Rockefeller I've had in a long time, maybe even ever. And the lamb chops were outstanding. My wife's trout was also incredible. Quiet and cozy atmosphere. And our waiter was excellent. We can't wait to go back.

The service, food and overall experience was amazing. Definitely get the duck, trout and mushroom medley.

Homely ambiance. Portions were small, food was a bit salty, but service was great. We sat in a living room where we could hear ourselves whisper. Place was full but didn't feel like it. We didn't order wine so we might have missed out on this place's greatest strength.

We celebrated multiple February birthdays last evening. We each ordered a different main course and a variety of appetizers. Everyone was pleased with his/her choice. To top it off, the bar provided excellent cocktails. And our group is picky.

Over the years I've eaten at the Ivy Inn Restaurant seven or eight times. It's always been a good, and sometimes exceptional, experience. This year I made a reservation for Valentine's Day for four (my partner, her teenaged son, her son's girlfriend, and me). When we arrived at the restaurant and were seated, our waitress informed us that the restaurant was serving only a $95 per person, five-course prix-fixe dinner that night. I didn't recall that information from OpenTable or the restaurant's website/online menu, but the waitress insisted that it was obvious on the website. A five-course dinner was more food than we wanted and the price seemed steep, but it was too late to make other arrangements, so we stayed. (I later checked the restaurant's website. To see the Valentine's Day prix-fixe menu one has to click on the "More" dropdown menu and then click on "Upcoming Dates." That information does not appear on the "Dinner Menu" dropdown menu and is not obvious.) Also, although 8:15 p.m. was the earliest time available on OpenTable when I made the reservation two weeks earlier, when we arrived at the restaurant at 8:05 p.m., it was half empty. Curious. On Valentine's Day this year the food was good, but not exceptional (my rack of lamb was tough and fatty, as was my partner's beef tenderloin), and the service good, but a bit slow. For the four of us the bill for dinner, including one cocktail, one glass of wine, and a mandatory 20 percent tip, was nearly $600. The entire evening was an expensive disappointment. We'll think long and hard before we return.

Staff was excellent and exceptionally pleasant. Food was very well-prepared. “Outdoor” area was heated in the winter and very quiet. Overall I'm very glad I made the choice for Valentine's Day.

Everything is gracious, wonderful, and delectable. My only reservation is that the wine list is virtually, all American. My solution is to drink a good American wine, bring a very good bottle of French, Italian, German, or Spanish wine, or, ideally, one of theirs, one of mine.

we chose the Ivy Inn to celebrate my husbands birthday! The food and service were exceptional and we hope to celebrate many more special events there! The seafood soup was outstanding!

Always great food and friendly, helpful service. Never noisy. While lamb is their signature dish and my choice more than half the time, the oso buco was fabulous last night. Great for vegetarians also as the chef makes an imaginative vegetable plate with fresh ingredients that my wife gets which also appeals to me. Don't skip the fabulous desserts. Cudos also to the bartender. Our top restaurant in the Charlottesville area.
