“I have been coming to Koi Koi since they opened seventeen years ago. In all this time I never had a bad experience here. The food is fresh and amazing. The staff is friendly and officiant. Very welcoming and warmKid-friendliness: Extremely family oriented“
“This is hands-down the best sushi ever. Their fish is fresh and tastes different (in a good way) than anywhere else. The service is always very thoughtful in where they seat you, when they bring out the food, and asking you what you'd like. Above and beyond. The atmosphere, is very peaceful and relaxing. A fantastic place for lunch or dinner. I wouldn't label this place as a "nice" restaurant, it's definitely more "mom and pop", but that's not at all a bad thing, it's just not flashy, certainly no flaming cocktails or waiters in suits. Again, not at all a bad thing“
“I have a love/hate relationship with this place. When it comes to events, everything is at the lobby once you walk in and it's filled with neon lights, a dimly lit bar full of many offerings of alcohol you can get, a few small sections for VIP for your friends, and usually a DJ playing their music. There's open karaoke as well but I don't know if people sing often in the lobby. So I have been here many times for my friends and even booked a room as well. Rooms are spacious and they do have pretty nice audio. But there is one thing that truly irks me every time I come here. So they have a touch screen where you can add your karaoke songs through YouTube or through their system but getting the videos to load is a pain. It's annoying to deal with because it skips to the next song in queue so if you are with a group of 5+ more people, it can be very stressful. The worst part is we asked the staff about it and they aren't really sure what to do about the connection. I mean they should really fix that because I'm sure it gets people upset. No one wants their song to be skipped. Aside from that, you can also hear the loudness from other rooms, I don't expect that to be an issue but it's noticeable on busy nights. If you do plan to go here, there's one thing I highly advise before going. Check their socials if they are hosting any event and call ahead to know about the room rates. The website shows their original flat rates for the room but in events, they raise the prices up. If you go in person, check the menu before deciding to put your money down. This place also adds gratuity to the bill so be prepared to drop down a lot. While I frequently come back here just to hang out with friends, karaoke is one of my favorite hobbies. Its never a good time when your song doesn't get played or you get charged way more than you should.“
“Believe the hype, this place is outstanding. Service was impeccable and the omakasi was delicious. Yes, this place is expensive and yes it's worth it. They have a fantastic wine list and very knowledgeable staff. Get your reservation in now as it is very popular and it is fairly small.“
“The food and service here are truly exceptional, but I would say this is a special occasion restaurant where you'd be better serviced with better portions at less expensive prices:Pros:Exceptional ServiceFresh and expertly prepared dishesCons:Sushi: although unbelievably fresh, the portions are just not worth the price. Nigiri sizes are incredibly, incredibly small for what you pay.Atmosphere: clubby vibe with very loud music can make it difficult to hear your dining partnersFor me, the price isn't worth the experience. I needed a cheeseburger after spending $200 per person.“
“In a spot where the sushi's divine,Far from Japan, but tastes like its own shrine. The staff, with smiles, swiftly glide,Explaining each dish with knowledgeable pride.A saki selection that brilliantly does shine.Beyond seas, this place holds its fame,With flavors no connoisseur could blame. Here, fish tales are more than mere notions,Served with a flair that stirs deep emotions.A top-tier feast, in every aspect, it came.“
“Absolutely great sushi and great service! Ordered the dragon roll, salmon lover roll, volcano roll, and 2 California rolls. Everything was perfect. We ordered take out after eating there several days prior (second pic with flying dragon roll). I’d say the price is very reasonable for such delicious and fresh sushi. Service was excellent. Will be our go to place for both dine in and take out!“
“One of the newest cocktail bars on King street! This place is super cool and has a bit of a speakeasy vibe.We only got cocktails but they were all super good and unique. One of the bartenders, Andres, who was making our drinks used to work at a Michelin star bar and really showed it.He even made us custom cocktails when asked and was very nice to talk to.The atmosphere is very cute and very Instagrammable. The only thing is you have to use wifi because the bar is underground and there's no signal but other than that will definitely be going back.“
“top notch service and food! the interior is beautiful and the servers were knowledgeable. the fish is really fresh and there's a lot of variety. i love the modern takes on the classic dishes. the dragon roll was my favorite, the char on the unagi was perfect. the japanese inspired cocktails are delicious, I especially recommend the sweetheart!“
“Hot pot was supper good with good portions per each person. Workers were super nice and are always walking around if you need anything. The prime rib was so tender and melts in your mouth. Not to mention the sauce that they give you the instructions to make is amazing and you can choose how much of an ingredient to add in.“
“Oh… My… WOW! This place was awesome! We went through a variety of recommendations from our waitress, everything was incredible, even stuff I didn’t much enjoy at other sushi places tasted great here! Loved the Tori 3 different ways, the pork special, the wagyu pork buns, and “the Winner” was beyond words. I didn’t like blue fin tuna the last time I had it and the Winner made me audibly go “holy….” It was delicious! Shout out to our waitress for making amazing recommendations and an unforgettable meal.“
“We arrived promptly for our 7:15 PM reservation. We were seated right away. Upon sitting at the table, my mom noticed that a section of the table was not clean. She told the host, and he returned with a wipe. He gave my mom the wipe, for her to clean the table. We were too excited about our very first experience at an vegan restaurant to make a fuss. We started off with some cocktails and appetizers. The bang bang broccoli was a hit! The sushi was ok and everyone enjoyed Thier cocktails, despite the excessive amount of ice. Every one enjoyed their entrées. I had the chick n waffles, which I really enjoyed. We even order dessert! The brownie was so moist and delicious on its own. The ice cream was a added treat. Our server was really sweet and knowledgeable about the menu.We will definitely be back for brunch as well as check out the other two Planta in the DMV.“
“Been to Guy Shige in the Mosaic District a bunch of times, and it's always a hit. This time, I grabbed some sushi, and man, it was the right move! The sushi was mega fresh, and the flavor was next level, especially with the real wasabi they grate on the spot – totally beats the regular stuff. Also had the oolong peach cream cake for dessert, and it was just perfect – the tea and peach combo wasn't too sweet or anything. On a previous visit, we tried the Wagyu. The waiter showed us how to enjoy it with a bit of pink salt and wasabi, and it was mind-blowingly good, way better than any ribeye I've had.Guy Shige is definitely my favorite spot for those special nights out. They always nail it with the food!“
“Had a Great time celebrating a friend’s birthday! Food is amazing, sushi is fresh! Good atmosphere! Owners are Super cool and really knows how to make their guests feel special. Kudos to the entire staff for the Great service. Highly recommend!“
“The best sushi in the dmv by far for the price. The people that run this place are so amazing and kind. The sushi is made out of amazing cuts of fish that are fresh and they are generous with their portions.I’ve eaten at multiple Michelin star sushi restaurants and this sushi rivals that, they really know their sushi. They’ve always been super friendly and accommodating. Treat yourself and support a family owned small business!!“
“The weather was beautiful today, and flowers were blooming. And this little cozy place was perfect for me. The chirashi bowl was very satisfying... the fish was so tasty and fresh! I don't think anyone can beat this price with the quality of chirashi here. What a surprise... that I could trust Yelp reviews once again :)“
“It's wonderful to reminisce about our lovely lunch with friends at this restaurant. Although the food was delightful, it could be even better. The menu was extensive, offering various options, and all dishes were freshly prepared. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was delightful. We look forward to returning and enjoying another memorable meal.“
“Beautiful interior!Price is on the expensive side, but I definitely think the food is worth the money.Their speciality menu is the Yakitori Platter, which is think is pretty good but I didn’t really like the roasted peppers, i honestly would rather just order everything else on the combo and add on something else other than the pepper. ?️Their spicy miso ramen had so much chili Oil that all I could taste was the chili oil and no miso. I’ll give it another try but my reviews stay at 4 due to this.“
“CAN I SAY THIS IS SOME OF THE BEST SUSHI I'VE HAD IN ALL OF DC!! The flavors in their Seaweed Cucumber Crab salad, and Rainbow and Unagi specialty rolls were music to my tastebuds, so much that we ordered a third one!! My dirty martini and my sister's plum wine added great spirit to our evening and our server was attentive and flowed with our jokes. They also followed great COVID protocol. You must pay them a visit TODAY!!“
“This used to be my neighborhood sushi restaurant. I live in NYC now and I never miss an opportunity to dine at SushiKo when in DC. The fish is super-fresh and beautifully prepared. The staff is attentive without being overbearing. The wine list is very good. Am already thinking about the next visit.“
“Cool spot for sushi, as well as great Asian fare. We had a variety of dishes that were A+. The salad dressing is hands down the best I have tasted, hands down! I asked to purchase some to go but it was the end of the day land they just gave me a decent amount.I highly recommend this “
“When I choose the JP or Korean restaurant, I would like to try side dishes. I order Yoko salad, Takoyaki, Mango Salmon roll, and Fish Katsu. What I can say is I will come back again and again. The Fish Katsu (Fried fish) is the best fried fish I have had in my life besides my Mum’s cooking lol, not oily, thin and crispy flour, fresh, and delicious. I have been thinking of Takoyaki from the restaurant in Thailand, however this one nailed it lol. The salad dressing is beyond. Mango Salmon roll is creative. The Korean tea is perfect fit after the meal. Kamsahamnida for making such a great restaurant. We live in DC. 1.5 hours traveling to have a meal here is worth it.The service was warm and welcoming from the moment we opened the door.“
“Decided to check Cafe Sushi Garden out today because I really wanted sushi but I didn’t want to go far, so I walked over and I was very happy and satisfied I went! It’s a small and cozy space with a good variety of different sushi at a very reasonably price. The owner and sushi chef was very kind and friendly. Highly recommend and will be back.“
“I want to give a shout out to Mr. Ham, Jobbi, and MJ. I stayed at a hotel near this fine establishment and I visited it quite frequently for dinner. Their omakase is absolutely incredible, and sitting at the bar watching them prepare the food was an awesome experience. They were very kind, and super welcoming. They have an vast understanding of the meals they are preparing for you, and they only use premium cuts. Literally the meat melts in your mouth, it was sooooo good. I will definitely visit them again on my next trip out. I stayed at this hotel for over 2 weeks, and this was the only restaurant I went to eat at more than once. They made me feel like I was family, they new what I wanted when I walked in, and they remembered our previous conversations from nights prior and were very engaging. I would highly recommend to anyone who inquires. Hands down one of the best restaurants experiences in the area.“
“Hands-down, the best sushi in the area. My family and I have been all-over and love the variety Taiko offers. We no longer go to D.C. for sushi.Service is the best and the atmosphere is perfect for 1-2, or even a large family or small gathering. Our family fave!!“
“This was our second time eating at Gyu San and we've had a great experience both times. The option are great. We did two different pre sets for a party of four and it was a perfect amount of food. Everyone got their favorites - to include beef tongue - and got to try something that may not have otherwise tried. In addition we had grilled edamame - absolutely the best edamame in the area.“
“When I was hosting friends from out-of-state and wanted to impress them with a delicious array of food, I called Rawr. The sushi platters were a hit (fantastic 4 and out rawr) and so was everything else: gyoza, spicy miso Ramen, chicken teriyaki Don, pork katsu curry, and miso soup. Our friends loved it, and I was so thankful to Rawr for delivering an absolutely outstanding and impressive spread. Rawr is the best!“
“Ok. I can be pretty harsh, overly critical, and selfishly opinionated about sushi offerings. But I can only convey that is tastes good and where good sushi can be found. Moreover, what gets lost in tranlation is my eagerness to convince just one or two readers which sushi place is good at the places where I can afford it.I don't think it makes sense to just order the most expensive sushi item on the menu at the most popular sushi places in city areas. We can't all fly in and out of Vegas just for lunch. Yume Sushi seems to bridge that divide. Oh man, just want I thought you cannot find any better quality+value sushi than the 1-2 places around the Tyson's area, Yume was a nice find. The chirashi is out of this world but note somewhat price at ~$50. But the fresh raw fish in chirashi is different than all other sushi places I've had. The award winning rolls I can pass. The chirashi is just the best item on the menu. Most of the other menu items evoke poor attempts at fusion inventions while trying not to alienate true foodies who appreciate proper traditional high quality sushi preparation. The A5 wagyu donburi was way too much rice and way too sweet. So if you decide to go, the chirashi is definitely worth the trip and at least for that special occasion.Parking: The sign to free parking in in the garage behind the restuarant is small and easy to miss.“
“It's been so exciting to see an entirely plant-based concept be so successful and expanding so rapidly and now that I have visited I absolutely see why. This was one of the best meals I've had in a while. My friend and I had been dying to try their plant-based sushi and not only did it blow us away but the other dishes we tried were equally as incredible. Here's what we got for two people. We were quite full and took some leftovers: - ahi watermelon nigiri (2 pieces) x 2: If you didnt know this was made of watermelon you could absolutely mistake it for the real thing. The texture is mind blowing and the flavor is on point. Amazing way to start the meal (and end it because we ended up ordering another round to finish our meal) - unagi eggplant nigiri (2 pieces) x 2: So delicious. Definitely must order. The eggplant is super tender, just like eel. - spicy tuna roll: we ordered the hand roll but I think the server misheard so we ended up with the maki but it wasn't a big deal and i wasn't upset to get to try their take on maki rolls. I think their rice could use some work but this was still tasty! - Dan Dan noodles: incredible. Our server advised us to get the Dan Dan noodles over the Singapore noodles entirely because of the saucy-ness of this dish and he did not steer us wrong. These noodles are drowning in sauce (in the best way) Even though it's a peanut sauce it was perfectly balanced and creamy. The noodles themselves had a great chew and the use of kamut (a grain) in the dish as a substitute for the traditional ground pork was inspired. - bang bang broccoli: broccoli has never tasted this good. I mean it, not only is the broccoli is shockingly crispy while being perfectly cooked through the center, but the broccoli itself tasted so creamy and delicious unlike any broccoli I have had before. And the bang bang sauce is bangin too. All this being said, if you are trying to be choosy and try the most unique dishes, I would probably skip this dish in favor of more sushi. Overall, this was an incredible, unique, and innovative meal and I can't wait to go back to try more of the menu. This is how vegetables could and should taste, if only we put as much love into them as we do with meat. At least the chefs at Planta are listening.“
“Zen is my "go to" place in Arlington. Cozy, intimate wine bar that's attached to Asia Bistro, a traditional Asian fusion restaurant. The staff and management are friendly, personable, and always a pleasure to chat with, which is why Zen has such a large cadre of reglars.“
“From the minute our party of two entered, the staff greeted us warmly and were very polite. To start, the chicken karaage was perfectly seasoned, crisp, and temperature hot - no sauce needed. For my meal, I ordered the nigiri only Omakase (Chef Inspired Platter) which came with a miso soup and salad. The taste brought me back to Japan. Our meal also came with dessert in which we chose the green tea ice cream which did not disappoint! Everyone working was attentive, informative, and wonderful. Will be back and would definitely recommend!“
“Ah-mazing! I built my own large bowl and got all 3 tunas- so yummy, limu is my favorite! I got soba noodles as the base and it was delicious! My husband got the hot tuna bowl with forbidden rice- he loved it. We will be back to try other bowls and create new yummy ones. This is definitely one of the better poke places I've been to in a while!“
“The hubby and I came here on Sunday, 3/24/2024, when we arrived the restaurant was basically empty, so we were sat right away and asked where we wanted to sit. Our server brought over water right away and soon after we ordered a California roll (me) and the hubby got one unagi sushi for a dollar (a special). The California roll was fresh, well rolled and really delicious, my husband said the same for the unagi. My husband also got the chicken thigh yakatori for three bucks, it was brought out hot, tender and delicious. For our entrees, we both got Tonkotsu, we added an extra egg and shared it, so we would each have one full egg in our ramen instead of just a half. The Tonkotsu was fire, the broth was hot and buttery, egg perfectly cooked and yolky, the pork was tender and flavorful and overall just great. We will definitely be back and highly recommend. One final note, service was great and friendly!“
“This place is TERRIFIC!! Small and easy to miss on a corner shopping lot, but not to be missed. The crispy tuna appetizer is out of this world and the specialty rolls I've had are also terrific. I had the pleasure of sitting at the sushi counter today and one of the chefs made these little wontons as a treat-- SO AMAZING. Wonderful beer and sake selection. This is worth coming from DC for!“
“Fresh rolls, delicious drinks, an attentive waiter, and the restaurant's clean and modern interior decor make for a great dining experience. I will definitely return to try more!Parking: Plenty of free parking as it's located in a shopping plaza.“
“I hadn't been to this Market since precovid. It was great to visit. The Management/Owners and front staff were helpful and friendly. Very accommodating. There was an hour wait for the sushi order but there are many things to do in Bethesda so we didn't mind. The sushi is worth waiting for, so if you are hungry call ahead. I love there are so many authentic items in this shop. The staff is helpful and assist in finding items or questions about products. This is a jewel of a market in Bethesda.“
“A few of us spontaneously decided to get Tachibana for dinner this past Thursday and it was a good first experience for me. A couple of my friends have been here a few times and say their lunch specials are definitely worth the price. The service was pretty quick and we enjoyed our entrees at a round table. Their hot tea was quite enjoyable while we were waiting for the food. DONBURI: TUNA, YELLOWTAIL AND SALMON (9 PC) - 36.50 Not a cheap price and definitely more of a splurge for a regular weekday dinner. This came with a side of miso soup which was pretty standard. The donburi bowl was well presented, with each piece of fish spreading neatly across the bowl in a pinwheel shaped, topped with some garnish, lemons, ginger and wasabi. Each piece of sashimi was pretty thick and they give you a good amount of sushi rice that's been topped with some nori and small slivers of ginger. The sashimi quality was fantastic. I enjoyed the yellowtail a lot. The salmon and tuna were good, too! Overall, this was filling and tasty. I would recommend it if you are down to splurge. A couple of my friends got the beef sukiyaki which looked really good. I may have to try that next time!“
“This place is gold! I first discovered this place when I went to school at GW and this was close to the Vern campus. I remembered I thought the sushi was really good here but once I graduated and didn’t have a car, I haven’t been back in a while. Recently, when I had sushi cravings I remembered this spot and mentioned it to my husband so we came to check it out again. I am kicking myself for not coming back sooner! I love getting chirashis and not only do they give a generous amount of fish in their chirashi, they are all extremely high quality and fresh fish—all at very reasonable price too! I also got the clam miso soup which was very tasty and the clams are shell-on so it’s extra flavorful. Staff is super attentive and friendly too, and the place is small but cozy! I do wonder if on busy nights there’ll be long waits. I will definitely be back often!!“
“Satay Club is on of our favorite spots! Pad Thai is so delicious, fresh and amazing every time we order take- out. Gluten free options. We also have tried their sushi and green salad ginger dressing is fantastic. We will be back to try some new items, as all the food looks so good and the service is very friendly and fast.“
“Have been to Hawaii and this place is GREAT quality sushi. Service was great. I can’t believe more people weren’t in here at lunchtime. Hidden gem (for now).Kid-friendliness: Laid back atmosphere.Wheelchair accessibility: There are steps you have to use to get in“
“This place is always packed, and there's a reason: It is amazing. Our go to is the bubba, yummy Yama and pan fried gyoza. It's right up there with the best sushi we've ever had. And they also have subtle touches, like they put the gyoza in styrofoam containers, and then they poke holes in the styrofoam to make sure the gyoza stays crispy and doesn't soften with its own steam. Also, they will hold open the doors for you if your hands are full with a carry out order. Such nice touches!“
“Chirashi bowl here is my favorite. It's assembly is so pretty and it's very filling. The variety and quality of fish is really good! Service is fast and accommodating even when busy. My dad's allergic to egg, so they make sure to avoid adding imitation crab in his dish. Ambiance is casual and comfortable for any occasion dining. Seatings a bit cozy because it's a bit smaller size restaurant, but it doesn't feel too claustrophobic.“
“Some of friends recommend me this place. I am so excited to try and it isn’t regret. The decorations are so lovely with traditional Japanese Sakura and clean … i am so surprising that they have beep spicy noodles soup that i haven’t get for long time .i am so happy that i try it and it makes me don’t disappointed … also they service here very good … one of they lady who is very professional serve us …she gave us the Mochi ice cream for my dessert . it tastes super delicious. Everything was perfect and highly recommended for this place“
“Littlest DD and I went here for an early dinner before walking and Old Town. It is as advertised. It is small and cute with understated ambiance. The service is quick and friendly. The sushi is excellent. We got a dragon roll, spicy tuna, rainbow roll and miso. Would definitely return.“
“The sushi itself was very good! You could see the chefs prepare them. We spent a lot of money on dishes (noticeably more expensive than kura) but everything tasted so fresh and GOOD compared to kura. The service was just ok, as they do not have an electronic check in system to say when it is your time for a table. The restaurant itself is kind of small as well. Maybe about ten tables? Also, when we did get seated, we were offered a place that had food on the table and chairs… i had to wipe off the chair myself with my hand. Everything else was great!“
“Treated my cousin to Sweet Ginger for his birthday and we were both amazed by the quality and quantity of food we received for the price paid. We made it easy for our patient and attentive waiter by ordering two Thai iced tea and the Bento Box A with beef teriyaki. Everything was cooked and prepared to perfection. Starting with the Thai iced tea; which was almost like a dessert. So smooth and sweet! It complimented the meal. The miso soup was comforting and had a balanced ratio of broth, tofu, greens, and green onion. The salad was fresh, crisp, and dressed with a rich and tasty peanut dressing. Of course, the highlight of our meal was the incredible bento boxes. The tempura shrimp and vegetables were my favorite. They were breaded to ideal crispiness and paired well with the soy dipping sauce. The vegetables were one big broccoli floret and large sliced carrot and zucchini medallions. The teriyaki steak was scrumptious, served on a bed of cabbage slaw with a generous amount of sauce. There was enough for me to dip other box components into, like the California rolls, tofu, and the Japanese dumpling. We dusted off everything. Not even the leftover salad dressing remained because we drank it all up! The whole experience was so much fun and we had a blast. Can't wait to go back. We left feeling satisfied and can add this to our list of happy memories!“
“We enjoyed an impromptu Mom and sons date night here and loved it! We started with the miso soup and then tried the seaweed salad for the first time - delicious! We splurged on the sushi boat and boys thought it was the BEST THING ever! They wanted to take the boat home! The Volcano and Hawaii rolls were our favorite! Gyoza was also super good!Appreciated the easy to read menu with good pictures, explanation and lots of options. We will definitely be back and look forward to it again soon!“
“I went to YamaChen Sushi for the first time and it was everything I was craving for and more. The 2 for 1 sushi roll combo were a reasonable price and even more delicious. The staff was wonderful. So wonderful that I would return to this place solely based off the kindness and welcoming nature of the staff. The sushi was fresh and flavorful. I can’t wait to return!“
“Incredible neighborhood take-out sushi restaurant! Very friendly service and high-grade fish. Really enjoyed both the sashimi and the rolls. Best sushi by far in the area. Can be challenging to find. Take escalators as if heading to Crystal City metro station and turn left into the underground gallery after the first escalator. The sushi bar will be on your right.“
“The service is fast, the staff is courteous and above all the sushi is bursting with flavor and authentic.I will go back again occasionally to try their other rolls and savor different flavorful and fresh sushiI took one star away because of the portion size! The sushi is tiny: the size of 4 rolls here is equivalent to 2 from other mainstream sushi places. I guess you get what you pay for: higher grade sushi, smaller portion for higher price.“
