I’ve been a regular of el charros for years. Recently Don Julio’s purchased and took over, a month ago. The habanero salsa replacement tastes terrible, and I asked for no vegetables. I got all the vegetables. Not a good first impression.

Atmosphere--The decor is a great small local Mexican restaurant vibe with custom seating from Mexico. I really enjoy it. The lighting is mismatched and odd, and the hanging banners are dated and worn, should be replaced in my opinion.Service--The staff was very polite and professional, absolutely nice. Though i went during a not so busy time, so their focus was mainly on the few people getting lunch.Food--Food was okay. Salsa was good, nice consistency but I prefer hot, that's on me. I got a California burrito and it was just average. The beans could use more flavor, more seasoning in my opinion, and the ratio and spreading of ingredients could have been better from my experience in Mexican/texmex food.Price was fair for the portions and area.Overall I'd definitely recommend it if in the area and in the mood for this type of cuisine. I'll be back occasionally.

I hate to tear a place down but first impressions are important. Walking in everything was normal, place looked good, our order was taken. But unfortunately the chips were the only thing worth coming for. The food just wasn't good, and definitely not something worth coming back for. The staff was not attentive at all, got one refill at the end of the meal. Asked for our check and waited 15 minutes until we had to just go up there ourselves and pay for it. Not a single person walked by the entire time. It was the afternoon on Saturday and it wasn't busy and this is the service we got. Me and my girlfriend unfortunately will not be coming back.

Great tasting food! They had horchata ( most Mexican restaurants don't) , delicious white dip sauce for nachos (not cheese), authentic rice. Beautiful artwork on their furniture.

The margaritas were good as were the chips and salsas. The enchiladas supremas were the worst I've ever had. Maybe they were simply under sauced. The soup and the grilled chicken were passable. The high ratings from other reviewers must be based on the large portions for a low price or a lack of a good baseline for quality Mexican cuisine. I won't be back and don't recommend this place as a dining option.
