The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The peri-peri chicken had just the right spice combo.

We came, we got ignored for 35 minutes? We were a walk in, the host with dreads was super polite, and sat us on the enclosed deck quickly. He even asked if we wanted to make sure it wasn't too cold out there. The blond waitress was out there waiting on a family, she was talking to them for a really long time, being careful not to make eye contact with us. She also checked on her other tables. She came out several times to check, each time avoiding us.After about 15 minutes the host with dreads brought us menus, they had been cleaning up a large party, we both understood how that taxes staff, as we both have worked in the service industry.Ten more minutes go by, still no one has even brought water glasses, or spoken to us besides the nice host. A couple gets seated behind us, within a minute or so a brunette waitress greets them, brings menus and water, takes their drink menu, and avoids us.We listened to the couple behind us as the waitress again comes to their table, yet avoids ours. When their drinks came out a few minutes later we finally accepted we were not getting served here, and left. The place looks nice, I liked the menu, I can only figure we were profiled for some reason, and this place is not inclusive of everyone. This doesn't really make sense, we were polite, we are good tippers always ( again, we've worked service industry), and the host was very friendly to us when being seated. We ended up walking to O'Toole's, they were friendly, inviting, and we were served quickly, despite the place being packed.Little Nickel will be a place when mentioned I tell this story to, as well as whomever else will listen. For whatever reason, they won't serve certain people apparently. We were very disappointed with the experience, and will never return.

The food was AMAZING, every component felt super well done and intentional. I got a Hawaiian Bowl, it was roughly the same price as a chipotle bowl but with way more food and a way higher

Now I feel like I was the only one in Richmond who'd never been to this little gem. Excellent food with attention to flavor combinations, friendly staff, charming layout. 10 outta will go again!Kid-friendliness: Although it is a rather small space, they love kids and accommodate them very well. Crayons and paper to color on.
Great menu, lots of novel dishes - makes a big difference these days when most restaurants are serving up the same basic permutations. I get really tired of chocolate brownie and key lime pie - not here. A great low key stop for something different and not terribly priced. Be prepared to share or ask for a box - you won't finish it all! Appetizers almost have to be shared.Dietary restrictions: Not that I needed it, but some in our party did - some good gluten free options.

Everything was really good. We got the Hawaiian bowl with chicken, crab spaghetti, and sweet potato fingerlings. The portion size for everything is huge so definitely worth the price. The bartender Julie was very sweet and attentive. 10/10!

From the moment we walked in, we were disappointed. We waited about 6-8 minutes to get acknowledged and seated. Once seated, we ordered our food and I was very specific about wanting a plain chicken sandwich. Our food came out and my sandwich was loaded with toppings. The server took the food back to the kitchen and at the same time I went to use the restroom which was located next to the kitchen. I heard the server tell the cook “No, it was her fault because she changed her mind. Just give her her same bun back.” I was very upset when I heard the server lying to the cook instead of her admitting it was her fault. It was absolutely pointless to take food back that was fixed incorrectly and just remove the toppings. I could have done that myself. Most restaurants would have remade it. When I received the chicken sandwich, it was cold and hard, it was awful. During our entire visit, the servers talked about us to each other constantly. This has to be the most unprofessional restaurant I have ever dined it. We were referred to this restaurant and will never return nor recommend it to anyone. This was a very disappointing experience for our vacation. The only reason I gave the food a 3 is because my boyfriend enjoyed his food. There are plenty of other great restaurants in Richmond to go to other than this highly unprofessional establishment.

Everything about this place was excellent - the food, drinks, and service. Often in places that have great cocktails/ambiance, the food is nothing to write home about. Everything we ordered here was fantastic. The Pupu appetizer platter was delicious, as was my Siam salad and my partner’s Peri-Peri chicken. Also the drinks were great and special shoutout to our bartender Josephine. She was super friendly and gave some awesome recommendations. Will definitely be back!

Went here for the first time recently and will def be coming back. The atmosphere is really cozy and cool. The service was great, the good was so unique and everything tasted great. I just wanted to give credit where credit is due. This place gets all the stars?
