The service and atmosphere was great! And our wedge salad wonderful! But our main dishes were terrible, and that’s why I only gave 1star for the food.My husband’s rigatoni with shrimp was bland. Even with adding extra pepper, he only ate the shrimp, which he said was coated with a bland sauce. My crispy fish (I was expecting fillets) was served whole, and I couldn’t cut through it because of the internal gut layer. It was visceral, and there was a membrane in it. When I showed the waiter, he immediately took it away and said it wasn’t fully cooked. I asked if I could order something else, because my stomach was turned by the fish. He said of course so I ordered a pork chop.My pork chop came out in 5 minutes! I don’t know how they did it so fast, but it was dry and overcooked. It could have been good, except I could hardly chew it!The dessert, on the house, thankfully, was not good either. The tiramisu didn’t have any resemblance to the classic Italian dessert. My chocolate hazelnut ice cream was super salty. I couldn’t eat it. And the coffee was weak.It wasn’t a good experience, and we both left hungry after a $100 bill.

Amazing food! My mom and I went there to celebrate Lunar New Year! One of the best places to eat and a good selection of food. The service was amazing and the steamed pei mussels were suprisingly fresh.

We enjoyed the burgers and rigatoni immensely ….. delicious !!! Disappointed in that we were forgotten with regard to service tonite. We ordered fried oysters for an appetizer and never got them. My husband ordered a beer and never got it. The four of us ran out of water and forgotten once again with no refill. We hope the next visit will be better…. We really like the food and atmosphere:)

Extremely confused by any negative reviews of this lovely establishment. I truly think Southbound is one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in Richmond, and that’s saying a lot! My friend and I dined there tonight and have only rave reviews. The atmosphere is 10/10: classy, cozy, and casual-chic. We tried the pork nachos (incredibly flavorful and original), Caesar salad, burger (possibly the BEST I’ve had in Richmond, which is also saying a lot), crabcakes, and tiramisu. Everything was so.freaking.good. Our server was friendly and service was prompt and accurate. We have friends who extol the virtues of their cocktails, but didn’t try one tonight. Wine selection is solid. No complaints and we’ll absolutely be back soon!

Not for vegetarians. Bland offerings. Don't understand meatless palate. Service great.

The atmosphere was great, the service supurb and the food was amazing. My girlfriend had the fried flounder on a bed of grits with a very unique coleslaw. I got the duck and was blow away. The waiter was great at giving us suggestions for things to do and see in the Richmond area.

Booked the restaurant for a private holiday party and it was fantastic! Brianna worked with me to put together a menu and logistics and was incredibly easy to work with. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The food was amazing and our guests had a great time. Would highly recommend using them for private events. They also have a smaller room for meetings and smaller corporate gatherings that we plan on using in the future for client meetings.

Wow!! Everything was 5 star!! Reserved online for a party of 7. The table was ready when we arrived. Service was fantastic. Menu was well labeled for vegetarian options and things that could be adapted into vegetarian. We'll definitely be back!
