I had the pleasure of working a wedding (as the DJ) in the back area of the building this past Friday night. The decorating skills and ambience created by The Speakeasy staff took me back to the days of REAL speakeasies and the decadent opulence and grandeur of the roaring 20's and jazz era. Food: chicken and waffles - THE BEST IVE HAD IN RVA so far. That don't allow substitutes so I had to pay extra for the grits which were worth it. The pineapple mimosa was just right and refreshing. Ambiance: a hidden gem in the Jackson Ward so there was no crowd and we were seated in a timely manner. Street parking fyi!Service: not perfect but good enough.
