“We decided to stop in Roanoke in the middle of a long road trip. Alexander’s ended up being a top highlight of our entire trip! From the service to the food, everything was top notch. The ambiance is sophisticated and relaxing with staff working as a team to make sure you enjoy every aspect of your visit. Every bite we took was delicious and you could tell was prepared with a high level of skill and passion. If you are in Roanoke, dinner at Alexander’s is a must!“
“My mother and I are traveling from NC to home in Pa. the hotel we are staying at recommended Hollywood's. the food and service was amazing. our server recommended all the food and after trying several things we know why. it was all delicious! our server Olivia was one of the best we ever had. (I was a server for many years so I know the hard work it takes to be one of the best and Olivia was the best) I hope when my mom and I left tonight we made Olivia's night. I recommend everyone try this place the food and service is AMAZING! if we ever travel this way again we will be visiting Hollywood's for sure!“
“We always have a Great Experience at Bernard's. Matt is Always so genuine he is an Amazing Server. We got our regular Butterscotch Banana pudding that is OMG delicious. We also got our regular order of BBQ wings they are so good also. We added Chicken and Dumplings this time and see we will definitely get it again, it is full of ingredients. Thank you to the Bernard Family.“
“Awesome spot, food was delicious, staff was pretty dang cool, I can see why this place has been open for over 90 years. Prices were unbelievable. Enjoyed hearing the locals order. Ignore all the negative reviews you might read, the sensitive sallies should've stayed home.“
“I took a notion driving by today and decided to give RT Smiths a whirl After browsing the menu I purchased a 8" Dogwood sub...WOW this thing was huge! Excellent sub built for 2, the meat was delicious and fresh, I will definitely be returning!“
“This is the kind of place you’d find in a bigger city! There are very few other restaurants in Roanoke at this caliber. Top 3 in the area for sure. Definitely recommend calling in for a reservation ahead of time - they don’t have long hours and fill up quickly. Cocktails are creative, and typically on point. I absolutely LOVE their Chicken Liver Mousse and my husband said the Oyster Rockefeller some of the best he’s ever had. The small plates are alright, but the entrees and dessert definitely don’t disappoint!! Love the cozy, intimate vibe - great for special occasions and date nights ❤️“
“I met up with some friends I haven't seen in about 48 years. We stayed a bit longer than most. The staff was very kind to allow us to hang out for the extended period of time. The food and the staff was great I would highly recommend this place.“
“Ive always ordered to-go and i usually order the supreme sirloin or the creole catfish bowl both are amazing this place is so underated one of the few places that actually care about their to go orders usually you get subpar quality from to go order but my to go order always makes it all the way back home still hot and “
“My favorite place to eat!! Our last visit, our server, Kenny, made the experience so amazing. She was so attentive and hospitable. I got the lemon ricotta pancakes and they were perfect. The service was on point. Highly recommend. Will be back.“
“I had my first experience at Wildflour this weekend and it was far above and beyond my expectations! I ordered the eggs Benedict which were amazing! My husband ordered the French toast and it was so good I kept snagging bites of his! And of course I couldn’t go wrong with the bottomless mimosas lol. All In all, I wanna go back every Sunday!“
“My family moved to this state and area a little over a year ago. So we have been in the process of locating our new favorite restaurant(s). My adult disabled son just happened to be on his way home from an early morning appointment one day. When he just happened to find this place. Deciding to give it a try, he went in and had breakfast. Well let me tell you. He was so impressed that he promptly shared his absolutely fantastic experience with every member of our family. Even bringing everyone to-go menu's. They are now our whole family's favorite breakfast/lunch restuarant. Because? The prices are more than fair. The food is delicious and the portion sizes are just incredible. The atmosphere is not only clean, warm and welcoming. But this facility is very well laid out too. It easily and comfortably accommodates any who are disabled. But the absolute best thing about this place? Is the spectacular service by the most delightfully friendly staff you'll ever meet. This is THE place (especially for breakfast ?) to eat folks. You will not be disappointed. God bless them?“
“Classic dining experience in an elegant dining room! A combo was playing dinner music and a few couples were dancing. The food surpassed our expectations! We had great fish and seafood dishes, and many menu items are done with a Southern touch. Service was gracious and not rushed, which made for a lovely experience all around.“
“Good beer selection and Tuesday night trivia was really good.. the food though, not up to the mark!! I had ordered boneless wings with habanero sauce and it's supposed to be spicy but it was way too sweet and the wings were a bit chewy!!“
“I've reviewed Lucky before, but I was recently moved to reiterate how AMAZING and GROUNDBREAKING Roanoke's Premier Restaurant and Mixologist Incubator truly is...After enjoying a truly overwhelming(ly positive) large birthday party experience at another of our local favs (Stock), a small group of our closest & oldest friends and family came to Lucky for afterparty snacks and drinks. OF COURSE several of us had "The Cube" a Signature Lucky Classic cocktail that uses a select bourbon shot poured over a cider & local herb-infused ice cube; that evolves over time as the cube melts into the bourbon. Pro-tip: Get a "re-pour" of bourbon when your drink gets shallow. As always the wine selection is UNPARALLELED. I am never disappointed and often surprised by the mainstays and new wines from all over the world, INCLUDING high-quality Virginia Wines on occasion. We needed a special late-evening snack, so we ordered several of the Roasted Marrow Bone appetizers. They were HUGE and so rich & creamy!!!!!! The salad included is always refreshing and a perfect green-note contrast to the literally melt-in-your-mouth roasted beef marrow, as well as the perfect accoutrement of thin crusty bread slices. But the secret highlight of this dish is the "Marrow Luge" or "Marrow Shot" after the delicate marrow is all consumed and a hollowed out beef bone remains; a bonding ritual where a trusted friend pours a full shot of your chosen bourbon down the bone hollow as you catch it in your mouth at the base. It's not extremely easy to pour the bourbon at the right rate and it's not always easy to drink it smoothly at the end. However, the flavor of aerated bourbon sliding down and absorbing the marrow juice on the way to your palate is SUBLIME and the experience of sharing it with a friend is a "Life Tile" for both of you.Lucky (GOD BLESS Hunter, JP & Co.) has led the way for Roanoke's Restaurant & Cocktail Revolution for a very long time, and they remain the lead dog. Always innovating, always challenging themselves, always responding to the community, always delicious, always cozy and stylish. Lucky and its INCREDIBLE STAFF has become our "Go-To" for a consistently satisfying meal, a late-night cocktail, a wind-down drink at the end of a hard day, and a place "where everybody knows your name" when you walk in.Rising Mixologists Taylor and Kenton are literal alchemists following in Hunter's line of Sorcerer's Apprentices at the bar. The kitchen staff know exactly what they are doing to make each dish memorable and delectable. The waitstaff is responsive, brilliant, and effortlessly graceful under pressure. The decor is impossible to pigeonhole yet opulent and relaxing at the same time.JUST MAKE A RESERVATION & EXPERIENCE IT FOR YOURSELVES, TONIGHT!!!!“
“Let me start by saying I'm really picky about what I eat , when I went in initially they selected the wrong cheese and when I informed them, they just responded to give them a few minutes and they went and made it correct. When I got home and open the food. It was fresh and it looked good The taste was the stellar for me. I had the Philly cheesesteak and it was delicious. The portion is more than worth your dime. I will definitely order from here again ...probably often. Thanks for a great experience.???“
“I had not been here in years due to moving away. It did not disappoint. The croissants are amazing! I greatly appreciate that they still have Dr. Pepper. My son loved the fish in the aquarium. The staff even offered to feed them for him. We met friends as we were passing through. We will definitely go back next time we are in town.“
“I am not normally a fan of buffet style restaurants, but I was with a tour group, so Golden Corral was our chosen location for dinner while in Roanoke. The restaurant was clean, the food was plentiful and the staff friendly. BUT- one person really stood out and that was Venus, the Hospitality Manager! Venus greeted us at the door welcoming us with a sign that she made herself. She checked on us multiple times during our meal and even sent us on our way with a box of fresh chocolate chip cookies. ❤️ If you are ever in the area and need a place for a large group to eat, I would definitely recommend Golden Corral Town Square Blvd in Roanoke, VA and be sure to ask for Venus!“
“I picked up my English granddaughter from the airport. Paul's was the first American resteraunt she had been in. She loved the food and was amazed at the big sizes. And that we can get free refills of coffee. Most of all the friendliness of the people.“
“We ordered an egg and cheese biscuit and hash brown, and a smoked tofu on a vegetarian biscuit with grits. Best biscuit I've ever had, light and fluffy with good flavor. Wish they offered nom dairy milk for coffee, but we will return. If you are new like we were, it's an order at the counter set up with menus on the wall as you come in. There is outdoor seating available, first come first serve.Vegetarian options: TofuVegetarian biscuit“
“Nice find in Roanoke. Visiting a relative and looking to sample local eatery. Village grill didn't disappoint! Very friendly staff and we happened to be there on thursday, half priced burgers! Sooo Hokie burger it was. Everything was fresh and delicious and served quickly. Highly recommend. Thanks guys.“
“Lew's is a fantastic choice for a quick bite to eat and also has some of the best chicken wings in Roanoke! Everything we've gotten there has always been delicious, from wings, to pizza, to sandwiches, to burgers, to mozzarella sticks, and everything in between! Highly recommend!“
“DO NOT MISS OUT. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming, perfect for date night or to treat yourself to a good meal. The escargot was the best we've EVER had. Calamari so perfectly crispy and tender. The filet mignon was so tender and just melts in your mouth. The prime rib perfectly cooked. I wish I had room for desert.. Suzie was so attentive and made sure we had everything we needed during our visit. 10000/10 We'll definitely be back“
“My family and I were here on Sunday March 31 . We ate at the restaurant and were treated like royalty! The plates, silverware and other items we used were all very clean and neatly presented to us. The food was delicious and very well prepared. I had chicken over rice, which was excellent!! Other people in my party had pizza and salad with chicken. Everyone was delighted and quite satisfied. Another great thing is that the veggies and lettuce are all very fresh!! Staff members are friendly and extremely nice!! I highly recommend PortaBella Italian restaurant ??“
“Comfort food at very reasonable prices. Salad bar is large. Steaks are fine; nothing to write home about however they are not expensive and come out very quickly. We ate at about 5 pm on a Monday and we were in and out in way less than an hour. So if you are looking for quick fairly tasty eats and good friendly service this is a good spot. (My cocktail was $3.50; in 2024 that is unheard of!)“
“Perfectly located in the Wasena area right along the Roanoke River and on the Greenway. Best place to start your walk or ride. End up at the green goat for a beer on the outside patio. Sausage and cheese plate is always good with a beer after a long walk. Food is always good. From this point on the green way you can walk to black dog salvage and look around or head the other way and end up at the hospital. My favorite place to walk on the greenway.“
“My family RAVES about the food. I did not try the food...just there to pick up a cake. BUT the chef was my cake ? baker! She also made me #vegan cupcakes. Sweets By Tina @Hershee39 outdid herself...now I can ask for vegan options when I go back to visit!“
“I ordered Chicken Parmesan to be delivered by Door Dash. When I got it, the entree was steamy hot. There was enough of it to feed 2-3 people. It was very good. The Caesar Salad was fresh and tasty. Garlic bread was included. I will order from Uncle D’s again. I will probably ask for extra tomato sauce to go with all the noodles.“
“The food was delicious;the staff was outstanding General manager was outstanding;the waitress was outstanding and gave good serviceParking: Location is good parking is easy to get into and out of.Kid-friendliness: It has a kid menu for kids.Wheelchair accessibility: Handicap parking easy to get into and out of the restaurant.“
“Good food, good service from a long-standing local business. Never have had to complain about anything the few times I've been there. Soft drinks are served by the can. Need to update bar area, would be a nice quiet drinking hangout for beers or wine. Clean up back part of restaurant and not use it as storage. Better outdoor lighting, more social media updates, and longer hours May attract more people to eat there. A lot of people I know thought it was closed because of the dimness, outdated appearance.“
“Everything was absolutely amazing! The deviled eggs are a must, Cajun salmon rasta pasta cooked to perfection, and don't skip dessert! Words can't describe the mouth watering blueberry & lemon cheesecake. I'll be back for $2 tacos on Tuesday. We look forward to checking out the late night scene as well. John Michael always creates a winning atmosphere with the best team. A+ y'all!Parking: Several parking lots available and certain nights they are free as well as a parking garage a block down the street“
“This place is awesome! Our server was so sweet and friendly ! I got the ritz cocktail and it was light and tasty , calamari was delicious as always with the light batter and awesome sauce with it ! I always get my favorite lamb shank , it was incredible, Fall off the bone lamb and so delightful! And then for the dessert the crème brûlée ! The atmosphere is romantic and upscale ! I always feel special here. Thank you Billys!“
“You will find no better cake in Roanoke than Evie’s coconut cake. We get it for all of our special occasions and have even frozen quarters of the nine inch to eat months later, tasting just as good as the day we bought it. We are moving soon and will be so sad to leave this cake!“
“Wow! Where to start, came here thinking it was just another brewery and we would be served typical basic bar food, boy was I wrong. They have delicious appetizers, the soup and food was amazing, great quality, delicious, I highly recommend coming here. The list of craft beverages was extensive and provides options for everyone, even those who don't want to consume alcohol, they have options for you. Again everything was fantastic and we will definitely be back for more!!“
“I had the salmon with asparagus and fire roasted vegetables as sides and my husband had the filet with mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese as his sides. The food was delicious, not a single complaint. The server was friendly, helpful, and attentive! I also had an espresso martini, perfection!“
“The Cuban Pork Sandwich is good in its own right but doesn't taste like a classic or traditional Cuban Pork Sandwich . This sandwich is more of this restaurant's take on a classic. The wings were good but the jerk rub lacked salt (which is surprising since most rubs usually have the opposite problem lol) and I didn't get the celery and carrots I paid extra for. 3.5 experience out of 5“
“My sister lives in Bassett and I live in Roanoke. We meet several times a year and go fiddling around!! ? We always go to Denny's for dessert!! They do a great milkshake, cheesecake, and apple crumble I think it's called. We love it!!“
“I love this place! I love the bartenders and their fun demeanor even on busy nights. The food is always tasty and fresh, a great mix of perfect deli and bar food just like you want on a night out! Also, my husband and I LOVE when they host karaoke nights! The DJ has an astounding selection of songs and is always amiable and will even duet if asked- he’s a great singer too!! We’ve had a great time here and you will too“
“Absolute RAVE!! Our waitress was amazing, the owner is so sweet. The food and drinks are out of this world. Would recommend this spot to everyone, it makes for the perfect date night. Our order: Short Rib w/greens and fingerling potatoes, Dirty Rice & Black Beans w/chicken, and 2 Raspberry White chocolate cheese cake slices.“
“We had not been there for a long time. Very pleased with the food choices, the service was great, and the prices were very reasonable.Family enjoyed good food and it was no so loud that we couldn't have nice conversation.Vegetarian options: Several salad options. Baked potato and other vegetable appetizers.Dietary restrictions: Can work around diabetic and other restrictions.Parking: Plenty of parking and wheelchair spots near the door.Wheelchair accessibility: Wide doorways and easy to navigate through the restaurant.“
“Friendly hometown dive bar that also has a full day menu. I’d recommend this place for a grab-n-go breakfast sandwich or lunch hamburger. They have a new cook and he seems to do well. The establishment itself has not been renovated in a long time, it’s not particularly well kept or clean, i cannot speak for the kitchen, it may be totally different. There’s a little smell of smoke and a few pool tables in the back.I have an office close by and always notice a bit older, local crowd.I’ve never sat down to eat but I’ve stopped through to pickup small orders to go. Very fair prices, and they meet my expectations.“
“We just got back from eating at this place. We had very little to wait. Service was excellent. Prices a. It steep as they are everywhere else. I had a delicious ? Belgian waffle and strawberry topping. The only issue I have is the prices for the topping and whipped cream. Again, I know that most businesses are having to cover the costs of what they provide at the expense of the patrons... Such is life now. Coffee was delicious. All in all I think it was a great choice. Come and enjoy some wonderful meals with fantastic service.Parking: There is lots of parking available. No concerns hereWheelchair accessibility: There is plenty of wheel chair accessible seating for those who need it.“
“Judging this only from the Easter buffet and not normal hours or menu, it was pretty good. The stuffed flounder was awesome, the pork roast was tasty, but not as tender as I would have liked, however please keep in mind that's just my opinion. The brussel sprouts were delicious and awesome! Salad was a little too fancy for my liking, since I'm a fan more of iceberg lettuce than fancy leaf lettuce. Overall I rated a four out of a five.“
“The Mediterranean dressing, on the salad, was delicious. The food was good quality but one of the burgers was a little over cooked. Our server checked on us without making us feel rushed or crowded. We look forward to returning for future visits.“
“Wings were delicious! Service was great, as well as the atmosphere! I did the build your own burger, and it was black on the underside. Very disappointing! My spicy pineapple Margarita had zero heat. Would have been better with jalapeño slices or something to add spice. The mule was wonderful.the chicken/pimento sandwich was delicious.“
“CB and Co. Is a regular for us when downtown. Of course on St. Paddys day real busy but within an hour we had our Rubin Corned Beef sandwich.Yes! and it was good. So give it try sometime. Hey CB does this review get a beefy sandwich discount sometime Huh .“
“My wife and I just moved into the area recently, and were looking for a place with pool tables and my wife found this place. We passed by it a few times before our first stop and noticed the giant coffee pot attached to the roof of the building which is something we look for in unique places to stop in. One night we decided to visit the Coffee Pot in the late afternoon and found the place mostly quiet and empty. There was a fire going in the old fireplace which was unexpected, but shouldn't have been after I learned about the bar's history. My wife and I enjoy the occasional dive bar, we have for a while. For us, it is a nice change from the other mainstream venues we visit, and the patrons and regulars have always been welcoming and friendly. The Coffee Pot was no exception. As other reviewers have stated, it is still a smoker-friendly bar and in these times it isn't often a crowd pleaser, especially for first-timers. However, we have found it does weed out certain types of patrons who sometimes can't suspend their complaints and enjoy something completely different, historic in this case, and seemingly off the beaten path. We stayed to play pool, the goal of our visit, and then stayed for one of the band's sets. We also ordered sandwiches/hot-subs as well which didn't take long to get and the food was fresh and hot considering the Wednesday night crowd there had kept the kitchen busy and they were also short staffed. Their Wednesday night house band has been a mashup of different bluegrass players (musicians) over the last 25 years. One component of the band, and the bar, they are deeply proud of - we get it and we respect that. Plus other mainstream players, Richey Valenz, Dickey Betts, to name a few have graced their stage at some point in time. We'll be going back this Wednesday as we were told the house band is giving the stage to a younger bluegrass band to encourage and support younger bands in the area. Again, a nice change from other live music venues in the county for us to sample and enjoy. Like a good Irish friend of mine told me a long time ago... "If you don't have fun, it's your own fault."“
“Got a to-go order and honestly it was awesome. The place was packed and everyone seemed to be having a great time. It was just a pick up but service was still great. And the burger and fries were outstanding! Oh, and get the fried oreo, its amazing amd worth it! Definitely going back.“
