“I went to YamaChen Sushi for the first time and it was everything I was craving for and more. The 2 for 1 sushi roll combo were a reasonable price and even more delicious. The staff was wonderful. So wonderful that I would return to this place solely based off the kindness and welcoming nature of the staff. The sushi was fresh and flavorful. I can’t wait to return!“
“Sushi Yama has been my go-to sushi spot for quite some time now, especially since the decline of Sushi Yoshi a few years back. Their commitment to quality at reasonable prices has truly made them a staple in our town's dining scene. While Sushi Cho offers another alternative, I'll review that separately. One minor drawback has been the wait times for takeout orders, which used to be unrealistically long. However, I've noticed a significant improvement in this area recently, perhaps due to increased competition.Notably, Sushi Yama has recently introduced a new online ordering format, albeit with a nominal processing fee of a buck or two. While some may find this a minor inconvenience, I see it as a small price to pay for the convenience and efficiency it brings.Overall, Sushi Yama continues to impress with its consistent quality, reasonable prices, and efforts to enhance customer experience. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout, you can count on Sushi Yama to deliver delicious sushi that satisfies every craving. It's definitely a must-visit spot in our town for any sushi enthusiast.“
“Cool spot for sushi, as well as great Asian fare. We had a variety of dishes that were A+. The salad dressing is hands down the best I have tasted, hands down! I asked to purchase some to go but it was the end of the day land they just gave me a decent amount.I highly recommend this “
“Treated my cousin to Sweet Ginger for his birthday and we were both amazed by the quality and quantity of food we received for the price paid. We made it easy for our patient and attentive waiter by ordering two Thai iced tea and the Bento Box A with beef teriyaki. Everything was cooked and prepared to perfection. Starting with the Thai iced tea; which was almost like a dessert. So smooth and sweet! It complimented the meal. The miso soup was comforting and had a balanced ratio of broth, tofu, greens, and green onion. The salad was fresh, crisp, and dressed with a rich and tasty peanut dressing. Of course, the highlight of our meal was the incredible bento boxes. The tempura shrimp and vegetables were my favorite. They were breaded to ideal crispiness and paired well with the soy dipping sauce. The vegetables were one big broccoli floret and large sliced carrot and zucchini medallions. The teriyaki steak was scrumptious, served on a bed of cabbage slaw with a generous amount of sauce. There was enough for me to dip other box components into, like the California rolls, tofu, and the Japanese dumpling. We dusted off everything. Not even the leftover salad dressing remained because we drank it all up! The whole experience was so much fun and we had a blast. Can't wait to go back. We left feeling satisfied and can add this to our list of happy memories!“
“I really like the food here, especially the bulgogi and chicken teriyaki boxes. The complimentary sides you get with the box are quite refreshing, especially the kimchi, which I ended up finishing in one bite. The meats here are quite succulent, and I love how the juices drip onto the rice to create this popping, umami flavor. Green tea here was a nice refresher to satisfy my hunger.“
“Great food and great value ! Such a cute little space too.Edit: over the last few years, I have come here every few months and bring family and friends as well. I was in again last night and I love when the owner comes over to the table and talks about Taiwan. She remembers me every time she sees me and truly makes this place my favorite restaurant.“
“Great Japanese steakhouse in the Tysons area. The inside is nicely decorated and it's a fun atmosphere. We did have to wait even though we had a reservation, but it wasn't too bad. The food was good and they give you enough to have two servings of leftovers afterwards. Everything was cooked just asked.“
“Fantastic fresh fish. Can’t say enough about the quality of the food and the taste! Service was okay but we were there on a Sunday during an apparent rush, so I take it with a grain of salt. They made an effort to get us a table as quick as possible, however do not come here with a group more than 4, the tables are small. Parking right next to the restaurant is limited but there is some street parking and some lots across the street. Overall, great experience! Would take any of the less than favorable parts for the superior quality sushi.“
“Their sashimi and rolls are delicious and super fresh every time I visit (and I've come pretty often haha). I especially love their tako wasabi...but everything is fantastic! I have brought a lot of family and friends here and they all loved it here and thought the same - food is very fresh, amazing quality, and everything is very very tasty! The restaurant is also very modern, chic, and always very clean as well! The owners, chefs, manager, and servers are all amazing! Every time I go they are always very welcoming and attentive. Shout out to Kai who always goes above and beyond! The only downside is that parking is limited but that's not under their control! :)This restaurant really is a fantastic addition to the DMV area! ?“
“Our server was very patient and kind in explaining the menu and assisting us with making the shabu. It was my first time and it was honestly very filling. I would not recommend the cherry blossom cocktail, tastes a bit like medicine. But the other folks i was with had the japanese beer and they really enjoyed “
“Been to Guy Shige in the Mosaic District a bunch of times, and it's always a hit. This time, I grabbed some sushi, and man, it was the right move! The sushi was mega fresh, and the flavor was next level, especially with the real wasabi they grate on the spot – totally beats the regular stuff. Also had the oolong peach cream cake for dessert, and it was just perfect – the tea and peach combo wasn't too sweet or anything. On a previous visit, we tried the Wagyu. The waiter showed us how to enjoy it with a bit of pink salt and wasabi, and it was mind-blowingly good, way better than any ribeye I've had.Guy Shige is definitely my favorite spot for those special nights out. They always nail it with the food!“
“The weather was beautiful today, and flowers were blooming. And this little cozy place was perfect for me. The chirashi bowl was very satisfying... the fish was so tasty and fresh! I don't think anyone can beat this price with the quality of chirashi here. What a surprise... that I could trust Yelp reviews once again :)“
“One of the best sushi places in the DMV area and I've been to a lot of sushi places! They have nice portions. Their Black Magic is amazing. Their belly bun is good and I just recommend everything on their menu super flavorful and awesome service.“
“Beautiful interior!Price is on the expensive side, but I definitely think the food is worth the money.Their speciality menu is the Yakitori Platter, which is think is pretty good but I didn’t really like the roasted peppers, i honestly would rather just order everything else on the combo and add on something else other than the pepper. ?️Their spicy miso ramen had so much chili Oil that all I could taste was the chili oil and no miso. I’ll give it another try but my reviews stay at 4 due to this.“
“Went here for the first time on a date. Blew my mind. Best sushi I have ever experienced. Melt in your mouth, eye rolling, wow. Service impeccable. Get sashimi or nigiri and go light on the soy sauce, the sushi is the star and doesn't need anything else.Parking: Few spots around back“
“Ive been there a few times. I really enjoy the food and the staff is close to perfect imo. As always dinner for 2 is between 60 and 100 bucks which is fairly affordable for the quality if sushi and the other dishes. The tofu appetizer was much better than I expected. The tofu literally fell apart ... soft on the inside but with a very nice crust outside. And the sauce was superb! I look forward to my next visit.“
“This restaurant is the BEST Thai restaurant in all of Fairfax. And I have had tried almost every Thai restaurant in the area. Their pad Thai is perfection, and their sushi is so beautiful it almost pains me to eat it because it's so beautiful but it's DELICIOUS. They also have great customer service and had our order ready quick and efficiently.“
“The food is always good and service is prompt but the hostess wasextremely rude and didn't even pay attention to us for 15 minutes while we were standing there. Although our reservation was madeahead of time she didn't even bother to ask my name and the reservation time. Her manner ruined our evening although the foodwas good. We are not going to go back there again.“
“Ok. I can be pretty harsh, overly critical, and selfishly opinionated about sushi offerings. But I can only convey that is tastes good and where good sushi can be found. Moreover, what gets lost in tranlation is my eagerness to convince just one or two readers which sushi place is good at the places where I can afford it.I don't think it makes sense to just order the most expensive sushi item on the menu at the most popular sushi places in city areas. We can't all fly in and out of Vegas just for lunch. Yume Sushi seems to bridge that divide. Oh man, just want I thought you cannot find any better quality+value sushi than the 1-2 places around the Tyson's area, Yume was a nice find. The chirashi is out of this world but note somewhat price at ~$50. But the fresh raw fish in chirashi is different than all other sushi places I've had. The award winning rolls I can pass. The chirashi is just the best item on the menu. Most of the other menu items evoke poor attempts at fusion inventions while trying not to alienate true foodies who appreciate proper traditional high quality sushi preparation. The A5 wagyu donburi was way too much rice and way too sweet. So if you decide to go, the chirashi is definitely worth the trip and at least for that special occasion.Parking: The sign to free parking in in the garage behind the restuarant is small and easy to miss.“
“This place depicts a classy restaurant with great service and attention to detail. High quality sushi!!!11/22/22 First time for take out at lunch, presentation and freshness matches the dine in experience. The service never is lacking.03/05/2024 The consistency and quality is maintained which is an attestation to the commitment of the owner and staff. The Omakase is very good as the sushi is fantastically fresh since a supply of succulent fishes are sourced directly from Japan.Ariake yummy, delicious delight indeed, eat sushi weekly“
“I loved this place. It’s definitely a hidden gem located in a strip mall. Fish was fresh, and the types of fish you get were way better than other places that charge about the same. They were on par with many other omakase places around here that cost 3 times as much, especially given the price tag.“
“First off it took me forever to figure out that this place was opened...because the open sign is so tiny and not let properly. It wasn't until I walked up to the door and actually looked in I saw the staff and a few other people go inside. Now as many of these places on a strip mall situation it is a tiny space. They definitely made due with the space they had work for them. Nobody will greet up and I learned that the hard way. Because I didn't know how the system worked I just grabbed the form, sat down, marked what I wanted and handed it to the only women that seemed to work there. She asked me was it to go. I was like no...so she then proceeded to take me to a sitting area near the back and gave me a menu.Because I was so hungry and wanted a little bit of everything I opted to finally try the soft shell crab appetizer which was not good at all unfortunately. Tasted really burnt and was very small. I then got the plum wine...very sweet like I remember, tuna roll, Philly roll, spic yellow with cream cheese, and fatty tuna belly. All rolls tasted amazing and fresh so that was a plus for me! By and all I will definitely be back to same other rolls and get more of that cold plum wine...“
“When I choose the JP or Korean restaurant, I would like to try side dishes. I order Yoko salad, Takoyaki, Mango Salmon roll, and Fish Katsu. What I can say is I will come back again and again. The Fish Katsu (Fried fish) is the best fried fish I have had in my life besides my Mum’s cooking lol, not oily, thin and crispy flour, fresh, and delicious. I have been thinking of Takoyaki from the restaurant in Thailand, however this one nailed it lol. The salad dressing is beyond. Mango Salmon roll is creative. The Korean tea is perfect fit after the meal. Kamsahamnida for making such a great restaurant. We live in DC. 1.5 hours traveling to have a meal here is worth it.The service was warm and welcoming from the moment we opened the door.“
“A perfect little sushi spot for you and a loved one to visit. All of the sushi is tasty and fairly priced. The servers are very attentive and always ready to assist. We got the 'Queen' which is a sushi spread for two and each piece was fantastic. This also came with a salad and miso soup. Can't wait to go back!!!“
“Enjoyed a late lunch at Taiko on Saturday with my kid. We shared dumplings, takoyaki (wheat flour octopus balls), and she ordered the Salmon Lunch Box, which came with salad and soup. I ordered two rolls (the only ones that did not have rice): Naruto Roll & Phoenix Roll. The Naruto roll was tasty and the cucumber was nice and crunchy. The Phoenix roll had spicy tuna with avocado on top - also delicious. Both came with a yummy ponzu sauce that I alternated between dipping with soy sauce. We capped off the meal with a tempura fried matcha green tea ice cream that was crunchy on the outside, a tiny bit cake-like on the inside and sweet as it sounds!“
“Absolutely a gem!Our experience was based on two people ordering ramen (absolutely delicious)The service from everyone who worked there at this family owned business was absolutely top notch, professional, courteous, friendly and welcoming. The price is very reasonable and the portion was sufficient for us.We elected for add on protein for our ramen (meat) which was tender, and cooked to perfection.Highly recommend this place and we will be back again and aging“
“Matsutake is sort of a hidden gem, sitting in a converted fast-food restaurant in a small mall just off Reston Parkway. There are a number of decent restaurants in such locations and this is the only one where the designers have managed to completely banish the sterile fast food feel - it's a lovely place where you can relax and enjoy. As others have said the food is very good - although at the top end of my personal price range. The cocktail menu is particularly notable, consisting of truly unique drinks invented and whimsically named by the bartender. Don't let the goofy names dissuade you - they are excellent. And if you have ever wondered whether there's such a thing as Japanese craft beer, yes there is and they have several. My only quibble is that the owners seem spread a bit thin. Sometimes the bartender is not there on weekdays. Sometimes the service is wonderful and friendly, other times not so much. So consistency is the last box they have to check. Based on about a dozen visits they have far more good nights than bad nights, but at the relatively high price point this should not be a worry for the diner.“
“Fresh rolls, delicious drinks, an attentive waiter, and the restaurant's clean and modern interior decor make for a great dining experience. I will definitely return to try more!Parking: Plenty of free parking as it's located in a shopping plaza.“
“This place is worth the trip from wherever u are. My husband & I live in NJ & visit our grandson in NOVA regularly. Just found Mari & it will be our go to sushi restaurant whenever we visit: quality fish, fresh wasabi, homemade tamago & friendly, attentive service.“
“This place is so good! The presentation is gorgeous, service is great, and the portions were large. Best sushi I have had outside of a Michelin-starred omakase experience. I almost can’t believe that there is sushi this good in a grocery store food court, but I’m glad there is!“
“Fabulous experience! My husband and I came here for our anniversary date night, and Rahel(our server) as well as the manager that night treated us like royalty. The food is exquisite, ambiance is dim, romantic, and a complete vibe. We happened to be dressed up while most other patrons were very casual. This will be our new go to spot for dinner, snacks, watching a game or just hanging with friends. Thank you for a great dinner!“
“Nice vibe and kid friendly. The lunch bento and dinner boxes are amazing. Sushi is great. The manager even brought us a sample to try.Kid-friendliness: They don't have a kids menu bot the lunch and dinner boxes are so big they can be easily shared.“
“My family has been coming to this place before we had our child, more than 10 years. Among our favorites: Curry Udon, Tonkatsu, tempura and all the ramens. The staff is very friendly and attentive. It makes me feel like I’m back eating in Japan.Kid-friendliness: Easy menu options and seating area. Staff is very accommodating.“
“I loved everything except for the fact my egg in my ramen was hard boiled and was told that they don’t serve it any other way and somehow my noodles were cold but my soup was hot.. not sure how they managed that… EEL Roll was amazing as always but please change the egg ??????“
“Lots and lots of food options (don’t forget to look at their Menu Specials, separate from their regular menu). Loved that their menu was marked for dietary restrictions (I.e., GF) so we did not have to ask additional on how the dish was prepared. The server was very attentive and all dishes came out fast and fresh. Absolutely loved their garlic fried rice, good to have in addition to sushi rolls.Dietary restrictions: Menu is marked with all GF options.“
“Kumo is one of the top two sushi spots I have had the pleasure to discover. I am STILL raving about it after visiting over the 2024 New Year weekend. The sashimi is so fresh!! The presentation is creatively and beautifully executed. The staff had mastered the art of being there every time you need them, but not so much as to interfere in the experience. I was so impressed with the tuna, escolar, live scallops, and seared salmon belly (fatty salmon). We also got a spicy crunchy garlic roll that was the best sushi I've ever had!! The price was perfect for what we desired to eat that night, and you could very comfortably afford any experience you are looking to have. It WAS crowded, but once we were promptly seated and presented with our first course, I understood why....fresh, delicious, affordable cuisine and a great atmosphere!!! You MUST visit this hidden gem. You'll thank us and yourself!!!!“
“We were treated exceptionally well as soon as we entered the building. The kindness of our waitress went far beyond a casual dining service. The effort she put into making our experience feel comfortable and welcoming was well deserving of my time and pleasure. Thank you so much for the kindness you showed us tonight.?“
“Great little sushi place in the Harris Teeter shopping plaza. Brought a large group here and they were extra accomodating to us with all of the silliness that goes on with a 12 person group. Food came out quickly, hot and delicious. Beverages were never empty. Really love the tuna-peno roll which is a little spicy! Will definitely return.“
“My family and I come here at least twice a month and would be here weekly if we lived closer. They have the best sushi in NOVA. We’ve tried several places and this is the only place that comes close to sushi we’ve had on the west coast. Their fish is always fresh and they season their rice to perfection. They have lots of tasty looking dishes on their menu but the sushi is so good we have yet to try anything else.“
“The woman forgot to closely track my order. The order was made and she forgot that it was my order. I waited at least an extra 15 minutes. Only til I looked at a package that it was my order. Of course, now I get home and I am missing my yellow tail sashimi. Poor service and quality control of take out orders.“
“I have been coming to Koi Koi since they opened seventeen years ago. In all this time I never had a bad experience here. The food is fresh and amazing. The staff is friendly and officiant. Very welcoming and warmKid-friendliness: Extremely family oriented“
“I like the fusion of Japanese and Korean food and the presentation of the food in a tray is very neat. I especially enjoyed the ramen, it was very flavorful and the spicy pork katsu also was pretty good. The waiters are friendly and pleasant. You should definitely try this restaurant if you are looking for Japanese and Korean food, it has both in one!“
“It was my first time here. I got the og musubi and the og salmon onigiri. Pleasantly surprised with the og musubi, it tastes pretty similar to how my family made them growing up. The og salmon onigiri was okay. It tastes more like a salmon/egg salad more than a traditional Japanese salmon onigiri. highly recommend the og musubi if you want something similar to the traditional Hawaiian dish“
“I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! They undoubtedly offer the best ramen in the area, and the creative desserts like the raindrop mochi are a must-try. The service was excellent, and the cozy atmosphere added to the overall dining experience. The only minor issue was that the seating was tight, and it was difficult to have a private conversation at my table. However, that didn't take away from the overall experience, and I would love to go back and try more dishes.Parking: Free parking lot in the back but it gets full fast especially on the weekend.“
“If you’re wondering where to eat tonight, be sure to check out the local neighborhood, quaint Japanese restaurant that has authentic Japanese food and sushi. The owner/employees are friendly and efficient, serving you quickly and offering suggestions on the menus. The food is quickly served and is delicious. We’ve had Don Buri, Katsu, sushi, and tempura. Crisp & tasty each dish was loaded with flavor! I would suggest getting a dinner box so that you have a good variety of food and plenty of it!Plenty of parking as there is a parking lot adjacent to the restaurant which is found within the Walmart plaza. Both kid and dog friendly.Kid-friendliness: Room for strollers or high chairs with welcoming staff.“
“I go to this place pretty often, and always have great sushi! I like to get the selection of sashimi, but everything I've had is good, and always quickly prepared for pickup. Definitely recommend this small place, for pickup or dine-in“
“It's a great place for a quick bite. The food is good quality, not extra salty. The advantage of this place is that it opens at 10am, before other restaurants open. The price is also better than some other places. The environment is clean, only concern is that the music in Hmart may be too loud sometimes. And some od the k-pop songs don't sound very appropriate for children... Also, it's cold since it's in a grocery store.I ordered K12 bibimbap. The dish is good and the pot is really hot, which sears the rice to perfection. The yellow picked radish is not as good as some made by a restaurant, but the price is also lower here so I didn't expect it to be amazing. The main dish is good though, nothing to complain.“
“Cozy and quiet spot for flavorful Japanese food and small plates (izakaya)They have a large menu and nice staff. Plus, there was some soft jazz playing on the speakers.I really loved their kitsune udon! Broth tasted rich, each topping tasted fresh, and the noodles were cooked perfectly chewy.“
“After months of experimenting looking for our new sushi spot since moving to Fairfax, excited to say we have found it. The sushi was fresh and flavorful, the menu choices diverse and the staff attentive. Bonus: the decor adds an amazing dash of zen to the whole experience.“
“Had Sushi Koji for the first time, based on lots of positive reviews. Didn't take any pictures because as soon as I opened the container the smell made me want to stuff my face. The fish was so fresh, it was delightful. Will definitely return!“
