My 2nd time here & we drove 41 mi. to get here. It's worth it if you want good cooking, hearty-sized platefuls & options for eating in, out on sidewalk or to go.When you get the menu you'll find catfish, chicken, brisket and sides galore like fried okra, cornbread (yum) red beans & rice, and the sweet tea is sweet. Got myself dessert too, peach cobbler..OMG!! Ya gotta try this Southern Cooking yourself. Pics below: chicken fried steak meal and catfish meal.

Some of the best food I've had in quite some time. It felt like a home meal, delicious and with heart behind it.The staff was great, very very welcoming and I felt appreciated fur being there. Now the important part, the food!Portions were amazing for the price, fresh catfish, hush puppies and the biscuits and gravy were sublime. If you're in the Tacoma area, heck even if you're not come on down for some great great food!

The perfect spot for our first experience at a true southern restaurant. The staff is super friendly, and there to answer all your questions. We tried the fried green Tomatoes and the catfish fillet sandwich. Holy yum!

I ordered for takeout here a bit late, but I was able to get some Cajun catfish strips with two sides before they closed up for the night. I love the inside of this place, reminds you of your grandma's home kitchen mixed with an old school diner. Classic dining tables with covers, framed photos up everywhere. Very cool. Now on to the food. The mashed potatoes were well seasoned, mac and cheese was very cheesy, and don't get me started on the catfish strips. Seasoned to greatness! Light and crispy but still filling and tastes great with the cornbread they give you. The only thing I can say is buy more sides than me when you go because I'm sure they're all the bomb!

I’ve been wanting a good fried chicken dinner since before quarantine started. So many recommended this place we decided to give it a try. It was worth the drive over from Central Washington! The food was delicious. Had never had a “corn cake” before—loved it. Outdoor seating, so we were able to keep our dog under the table while we ate. VERY fair prices. Good sized portions. Friendly staff. Clean. We plan to come back and try the catfish!

Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Tacoma. If you are in the area, or not, worth a stop. The food is as authentic as it gets.

Yummy soul food place. Went because it was featured on multiple shows. Figured its a tourist trap but hoping for a tastey tourist trap. Got the big sampler plate. Every thing came out and tasted like an average soul food place. I didnt experience any dishes that i can not find elsewhere at a good soul food spot. A fun item is the lemonade. Definitely worth getting. Worth the visit.

The meal was fabulous, delicious but the 35 minute drive to Tacoma. The wait wether waiting standing or sitting it was too much. This was a Monday lunch when you thought people would be working no they were not. Sorry for the whimper. Fried chicken, catfish and corn muffin Lemonade, collard greens and red beans and rice. The beans and rice had a real southern flavor I had it before down Georgia and Florida. Diverse crowd friendly staff love it I will be back.

Tough time of giving 3 or 4. I went with three because of what I ordered. The problem with that is I've only been here once and haven't tried other entrées. But I'm sticking with my guns and here's why: I ordered the country fried steak and it was like a square patty that was fried. The meat inside wasn't very much and it just tasted like it had been in a freezer. It just seemed like a small portion for the price of the plate. The Mac and cheese was solid though. I didn't try the cornbread, and the sweet tea was decent but nothing spectacular for a "soul food" place. Being from the south I'm pretty critical, so these reviews are never a personal shot, just honest feedback.
