“Been a regular for years but it's been a minute since I stopped in. The employees are ALWAYS friendly, patient, and kind. Goldie's is my BBQ go-to, glad you're still around after all these years!! ❤️Kid-friendliness: Highchairs are available and children are welcomeWheelchair accessibility: Designated parking, access ramps, lots of tables available“
“My wife and I tried Magnolia Tavern for our anniversary. We tried the Buffalo Cauliflower, Jumbalaya, and fried chicken. Everything was excellent. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food, service and atmosphere. We’ll be back again!“
“Food looks great and are larger portions, loved the mashed potatoes and the jalapeno slices, but over all everything else was VERY salty. All the "chicken" was overly salty. Mac n Cheese also very salty. Made it hard to eat everything.Had them in the past and this has not been an issue. Not sure if it's a new recipe but the salt amounts needs to be adjusted.“
“The food was amazing! Southern comfort food done right and even had lovely drinks for brunch. It is super busy, so I'd suggest reservations as well as sitting on the patio(which is covered and heated) if possible. Inside is pretty standard space for bBurnside. You can move around a bit, some tables are closer to others than the rest and easily sat my group of six comfortably, but it is very loud. I'm told they also do dinner, I went for brunch.“
“The atmosphere of this place was SO inviting and seemed to encourage conversation with your neighboring tables. The service was friendly and informative. And, most importantly, our breakfast was delicious. We plan to go back over and over again!“
“Food was great. I only wish the service was the same. Server was nice. Took a while to get our order in. Wanted dessert. It took longer to get pre made desserts out than it took for our dinner order. It shouldn't take 1.75 hours to eat dinner in an uncrowded establishment such as this.“
“My husband mainly has become a regular and I get to join him on the occasion. From the kitchen staff, waiters and owner everyone makes you feel at home. The oysters and beans and rice are some of the highlights if you can believe it. If you’re in town and wanting oysters don’t hesitate to make this your first stop!“
“Pine state was an awesome brunch! The manager Candi was hustling all over the place and still managed to make everyone feel welcome and seen. She had a great energy which carried over into the meal. She really went above and beyond to offer excellent “
“I was able to find this gem on a midweek day. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was fantastic. I highly recommend the pool boy as well as the jambalaya when they have it available. I will definitely will be going back and tell my friends about it!“
“I don’t know how they get the chicken that crispy, but they do. The food is great, and made to order so there’s a reasonable wait but it’s just that much better. The stacks are fun to try and deconstruct because honestly they’re huge! Great coffee, too. Genuinely nice people; it’s a new fave.Parking: Classic Mississippi Ave parking, mostly unavailable, but get their early enough and there’s some right in front“
“If you want a dimly lit dive bar, with great music, great shows and friendly service - this is the spot for you. The Fixin To is a true gem that is so underappreciated it almost makes me sick - but that's part of the charm. Come see for yourself. Catch a show, order some food and escape the insanity of the 2023 world. Half of the time I come in the Silver Jews or Sebadoh are playing and I instantly forget my worries and know I'm in a magical place - if only for a little while. That's why bars exist, to serve as an escape from the pressures we feel. Thank you, Fixin To.“
“I ordered the 2 piece Chicken and Waffles as a quick lunch before my flight. I read a lot of reviews and they mention their fried chicken so I got that. The fried chicken was a little spicy, but very flavorful and juicy. However, it felt a little heavy for me after a few bites. The waffles were tasty and a nice level of sweetness. Staff was friendly.“
“I was pleasantly surprised by the house drip coffee. It was very tasty with just sugar and half n half which I haven’t usually found to be the case with most non-espresso coffee beverages. I got the biscuits and gravy and was also pleasantly surprised cause I am a biscuits and gravy snob but these were very flavorful and the right about of spicy and savory. I also got a hash brown and it was perfect! Plus whatever oil they cooked it in was very mild which enabled pure fried potato flavor“
“I really love this bar, locally ownedMy bar tender was Ella. She made my husband the best long island ice tea , since we been together here in Portland Oregon anyways , we been together going on 13years this coming up September 1st .I had the best lemon drop on the ne side of Portland. Also I ordered breakfast biggest portions of food especially for a bar.I ordered chicken fried steak with gravy and a biscuits and gravy came with it as well as homemade breakfast potatoes and 2 over easy eggs and a order of jalapeno poppers and those were the hugest jalapeno poppers I ever seen in Portland and were delicious. Stop in here if you're looking for a friendly non judgemental non racial bar. You won't regret it. Believe me“
“I'm a few months late writing this review, so it looks like this particular location which was in a cluster of food carts has closed down since. There were some outdoors and indoors tables/benches there if you want to eat at the location.I ordered a gumbo regular with red beans, veg andouille (seemed to be made of baked beans), and Brandon's Nana Pudd'n (banana pudding). I was given an estimate of 5-10 minutes wait but it turned out to be closer to 30, but it seemed like one person was having to take orders and cook at the same time for most of the time before an additional worker showed up and there were some other people ordering around the same time as me since we were all on our lunch break from a conference.Unfortunately, while the food portion was generous for just $10, I found the gumbo to be too salty. I liked the vegetarian andouille, though; the texture actually did taste pretty meat-like, but I think the workers said it was made out of baked beans. The banana pudding was also a very generous portion, and I would recommend it if you have a sweet tooth and like whipped cream and nilla wafers.“
“Had a great time dining for brunch. First time tasting the Cajun fries and they are a must. The chatfield is really good, only thing is for the cost wish the actual biscuit was a little bigger.Other than that anything visiting Portland this is a great stop.“
“Awesome seafood boil and po’ boys. If you have a craving for crawfish like I did, then this place is right for you. I went at 3 PM, right when they opened. It was a little expensive but well worth it. I ordered the crawfish and snow crab boil and happily ate every bit of it. The drinks were delicious but not quite strong enough for my taste. My brother ordered the fried oyster Po’ boy and enjoyed it very much. The chicken strips are good, especially with their delicious honey mustard, though a little under seasoned. Make sure to tell them if it’s your birthday for an awesome delicious surprise!“
“Stopped by for the first time on Fat Tuesday and I am glad I did. Grabbed some jambalaya for myself and the wife along with a piece of King Cake. The jambalaya might have been the best I've ever had. If not it was real close. I loved it! The rice was cooked perfectly and the sausage and chicken were both delicious. The cake was ok, not the best I've had but that's alright. I did get the baby, so there's that.If I had a complaint it's that the gumbo wasn't available. I really wanted to try it. I don't like that it is only available once a week, same with the jambalaya. But I will be back to try it for sure.“
