First time I ate from here I wad completely taken in awe at the great food. This time, may be time of day, I was not as impressed. Service is still great, love the diner appeal.

We were on a trip through Madison I asked my wife to “just search for best breakfast in town” and what a treat we found called Monte’s Blue Plate Dinner. Our experience was beyond our wildest expectations…. Excellent service, food was hot and had very good flavor profiles.

Very hip nostalgic 50s vibe. Hostess was amazing. Food was done quickly. Vegan reuben was delicious. Broccoli side was steamed to perfection. My only criticism is the strawberry rhubarb pie. It was not fresh. I won't go into further detail, but suffice it to say...Monty's would greatly benefit from hiring a pastry chef and making a name for themselves as the place to go for amazing fresh baked pies. This was the total opposite, but everything else was fantastic.

Listed this Diner last Friday for their famous "FISH FRY".The waitress was very rude and rushed us. My sister was going to order soup, she ordered after me, she put her order in for the Fish, the waitress said okay, and walked away. The food that was practically thrown in front of us was Luke warm at best. We're never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks. As a matter of fact, we never saw our waitress again after she threw our food in front of us.Too bad, this used to be a cool place to go, but never again for me.

For a diner, this would rate five stars all the way across the board. It was a great place to have Friday Fish Fry.It is a art deco building that was transformed from a garage and gas station into a diner. The service from Savanah was excellent, she checked on me which was great, and had no problems with checking my water with fresh lemon, she wanted to make make sure I was good, and checked the plate to see if it was what I wanted, to make sure it was up to par, which is rare, especially these days. All of the staff was great and it showed they was happy to work there. Please dont forget the tip for great service, with no attitude.I saw a bunch of my neighbors there, and noticed a majority of the dinners was local folk that has been coming here for years.I was not disappointed with the food and it was ample with a comfortable price. They do serve breakfast all day.All of the dishes I saw looked good and home made, just like my fish fry.If you like dinner and a show, The Barrymore is right across the street, another art deco building and is currently showcasing the Wisconsin Film Festival.I will return here to sample many more of thier fantastic meals.Vegetarian options: The Portobello & Avocado sandwich sounded amazing.Parking: Plenty of space to park, including ADAKid-friendliness: There was families taking thier kids to dinner which eas awesome, you can Fred your family here at very affordable prices, which awesome food, with patiencent, professional staff.Wheelchair accessibility: A wheelchair would have no problem navigating this diner

Wait was long but understandable on a weekend. We got there right at a shift change so we were forgotten for a little but then service was great. Food was good and plentiful.

Portions are getting smaller. Food is good but very inconsistent. I wouldn't trust it for dietary restrictions. Many times my food has been close to what I ordered but slightly different than what is described. For example the vegan burrito sometimes has guac on it and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the vegan burrito is made with tofu sometimes it's made with eggs. Yet another time the vegan burrito had bacon on it. You never really know what you're going to get. The food is good but you have to be willing to accept whatever you get for take out. It's a gamble. The few times I've gotten my vegan burrito made with eggs or bacon I called and was told "mistakes happen" and to live with it. I ordered online so I know it wasn't my mistake. Also ordering online now has an added percentage fee and with already increased pricing, it can get a bit pricey. I love Monty's and their food when made correctly but I never know when that will be.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian and vegan options are plentiful but proceed with caution. The food doesn't always come to the table as described. Sometimes it has bacon on it or is made with eggs instead of tofu. Hit or miss for sure. Good food and options though when done right.

Good food but hopefully you’re not in a hurry if you go here! Took quite a while for anyone to even come to our table to order! Maybe this was just our server but we were never checked on ☹️. Despite this would totally come back again, the food was amazing and so was the bakery!

Atmosphere and vibe are great; food was solid and deserts were fantastic. Service not so much, they said 25 minute wait time and after 40 minutes we asked our status since people coming in after we're getting sitter. They simply forget us. Wait staff seemed kind of disinterested when taking our orders annd such, very passive about service. No apology for forgetting us.
