“Wisconsin dive / sports bar feel. "Neighborhood" hangout energy for sure. Tried the Fish Fry on Friday. Good stuff. I had the Perch, which was great. Others in the party had baked Cod that they enjoyed tremendously. The shrimp basket was awesome. The potatoes included with the entrées were not the highlight. The fries were a little underdone, and the hashbrowns arrived tepid. Nothing so egregious as to ruin the meal, though.Rolls and coleslaw were of fine quality, nothing to laud or complain about. Tasty and understated. The tables and menus were really sticky, and that was at the beginning of dinner service early in the night. The table next to us also mentioned this. That did detract from the atmosphere a bit.Service was great. Friendly, efficient, and attentive, even on a high volume Friday night.“
“Bartenders were really busy but still very attentive. All of our food choices were really good. We ordered chicken nachos, jalapeno poppers, Reuben bites and chicken wings.Bathrooms were clean and temperature of the bar was nice and warm on a day that was below zero outside.“
“Tanners is close to my office, so I've been going for years. The old location was so dark, it made it feel like a dive. The new location is where Quaker Steak and Lube used to be. Much more open. Brighter. It's good to see this building filled with people.Prices are super reasonable. Service was pretty good, even during a Packers game that had the place stuffed full.Parking: Huge parking lot. Always spots available“
“It was my first time eating at Blue Moon. I should’ve gotten a burger but I ended up getting the California Rueben with waffle fries. Both were very good! I will need to try a burger next time. We went for lunch on Fish Fry Friday, which was obviously pretty busy. Place was packed!“
“This place has wonderful food and great drinks. Service was reasonably prompt and pleasant, food was delicious, drinks equally great. My only downside is expectations. When your times state 10:30 close, I expect 10:30 close. Instead, at 9:50 our table was told “We’re closing, but no rush, are you ready for the check?” This indeed insinuates that we should head out now. 40 min earlier than the advertised close. While finishing our drinks, all table’s chairs were being placed on the tables, a clear indication of closing. All tables chairs were on the tables except ours by 10pm. I totally understand a slow night, but as a manger, one should set expectations for customers regardless of current customer level. Instead they should set time for 10pm if this indeed is their existing typical closing time. Set a time, and stick to it. Again, food was delicious, from burger to cheese curds, it was all great. Please reevaluate your timings to align with your expectations. Nonetheless, thank you for the evening.“
“Oakcrest is exactly what Oakcrest wants to be, and that is absolutely amazing. My wife and I come here for Tuesday dates while the kids are in school, and we've never had a bad experience. I can't recommend this place enough. Best burger in Madison!“
“Really good atmosphere, super kind staff. The jam pretzel burger special was fire. Square cheese curds, strange shape, very tasty. I would definitely come back to this spot. They served an adequately liquored up drink and did it with a smile. I may have found my new "local" as they say out in the Midwest. ALL good here.“
“Im proud to say this is my neighborhood bar/restaurant. Badger tavern has had name changes and ownership changes but the quality and environment haven’t changed a bit. Plenty of parking on street or in the parking lot and the bar is definitely handicapped accessible. The patio in the warm seasons is awesome. I have tried most every item and they are all delicious. Top five items in no real order are any of the burgers from locally sourced suppliers, wontons, Philly cheesesteak, fish fry(both), and the Ruben(not Turkey). There is plenty of seating at the bar and also a huge selection of high tops and booths. Play some pull tabs and have a cocktail while you wait. You won’t regret stopping in to check it out!“
“Went for a bit to watch the basketball game. Without the patio being open it was quite full and limited seating. The turkey blt was good and the onion rings were great! The pizza here is really good as well! Service was attentive and quick. It was pretty loud with the TV's and people talking/yelling.“
“Classic downtown Madison restaurant and bar. It has the old tavern feel, with upscale offerings. We only had appetizers and drinks, but those were great. we tried the fried Goat Cheese curds...very tasty, but a little goes a long way. We also had the Korean BBQ fries. Delicious!. Good bar selection and craft beers. Will definately come here again“
“Love this place. It's totally unassuming. You'd think it was just a dive bar on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere...but it's much more. Fantastic food and great supper club atmosphere. Really, really nice patio. A must visit!!“
“New to the area we found this restaurant on yelp. We went for a hamburger and were very happy to have stumbled across a delicious meal, welcoming atmosphere, and additional entertainment with bingo. We will be back for both the food and bingo.“
“One of the best pool halls I’ve been to and certainly THE best pool hall in the Madison area (and beyond). Amazing service. Amazing food. Excellent pool rates. What owner Larry Walsh has created in The Brass Ring is a true service to Madison and the sport of billiards for casual players to experienced players, and everyone in between. The menu is full of great appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. The bartending is impeccable — I go there to play pool during the day and Emily and company always welcome everyone with smiles. I’ve heard great things about trivia nights as well but I go there during the day for lunch and time on the table. You don’t get much better than The Brass Ring. Come for the relaxing daytime pool sessions and lunch (tables are more open during the day) or the vibrant night life for dinner, apps, drinks, and a little pool or shuffleboard with your friends. Great for date lunches and nights as well.“
“A bit dissapointed that we couldn't get our favorite brisket mac and cheese this visit but understand brisket leaves the biscuit occasionally. Still enjoyed the atmosphere, mushroom Swiss burger, club sandwich and a regular Hamburger,Pitcher of strawberry lemonade made the date.Love the decor, want to buy a few photos for sure.“
“Food was good! (Not to be confused with “amazing!”) Reasonably priced I thought. The cocktails though, they were fantastic! My wife and I both got one and I couldn't decide which I liked better. Service was very good too. Now, it was dead as a doornail when we were there, so take that into consideration. This was actually my first time in Hotel Indigo and I must say, they did a really nice job. The place looks great! I'd go back to Palette for sure.“
“The bad breath burger is easily my favorite burger in the Madison area. We also ALWAYS get the bacon potato salad. The restaurant and bar are beautiful and the staff are kind, friendly, and willing to accommodate.Overall, a great pub experience.“
“The food there is always outstanding, especially the jalapeño wontons! Usually the staff is friendly and helpful, I would say the dark-haired female bartender was the one-off; seemed like she hated her life, job or maybe both.Parking: Plenty of parking in the parking lot but street parking is also available where this establishment is located.Kid-friendliness: They have an area away from the bar for families with or without kiddos!“
“It was super crowded (always is on a Friday night), but that is because they're so popular! The food was delicious, and the wait staff was all really friendly.Kid-friendliness: The food was quick to arrive even on their busiest night which I really appreciated with kids in tow.“
“This was a great sports bar to watch the Packers game, drink some beer and have food. The bartender was fast and he was always aware of the customers. The food was great also! Highly recommend the Hawk’s burger and cheese curds. Overall was a great experience for my first time to Madison!“
“Visited during a Wisconsin basketball game. Great drink specials, cheese curds and service. Atmosphere for watching the game was great, plenty of TV's and lots of cheering. Highly recommend the homemade tomato bisque, it's comfort in a cup.“
“Rigby Karaoke Night is my own little slice of heaven. Heartbreak, drama, stress... you check that at the door. Everyone who comes to karaoke night has the most beautiful soul AND voice. I am going to go every Monday night for the rest of my life. Plus, $2 tequila shots! MMMM yeah! <3“
“This is a fairly large bar with 18 seats, and 12 tables, located in the Edgewater Hotel. It's sister restaurant, the Statehouse, is a high end eatery with fabulous views of Lake Mendota.Augie's was named after long time owner of the hotel, who was jovial and friendly with patrons. I found this spot, certainly the bar, still seating talkative and genuine friendly folks. We came here on Thanksgiving Day, and enjoyed local brews (Spotted Cow) and a tasty Bloody Mary. PIC had the turkey dinner, and at $26, was a big MEH. It was all dark meat that was fatty, semi-good mashed potatoes and dressing and sprouts. Pumpkin pie was likely frozen. However, I had their Augie's burger, and at $18, it was a steal!! Two smashed patties, smokey strips of bacon, cheese, lettuce, REAL tomato, onions and drippy-but-yum aioli and crispy hand cut fries- I finished that baby off with pleasure!Patrons at the bar included locals and hotel guests, who clued us in to their Friday fish fry. Unfortunately, it was Thursday, so no dice. But... the fry includes marble rye, coleslaw, fries, tartar sauce, and cod for $18. And, there's a kid-size fish fry for $9. (I think they also have perch, for an up charge.)Both bartenders were very kind and efficient, especially for having to work on a holiday. There is free street parking a block away, or underground parking for a charge.Augie's is two blocks from the Capitol Building, and has large picture windows, looking out into the neighborhood. The upscale Statehouse restaurant is adjacent, with water views, but if you are looking for something more casual, Augie's is the spot!Side note... they had Clock Shadow fried cheese curds and eight different beers, all from WI local businesses.“
“Lots has already been said about this place, but a couple things that I haven't seen as much--1. It is very dark in the dining room and the bulbs are pink/red. Like, I wanted a good look at my burger after I cut it in half to check out the toppings, and I had to turn on my phone's flashlight.2. The menu says that all burgers are cooked to medium unless specified otherwise, but mine arrived with no pink.3. There aren't any seating options that aren't barrel style chairs or booths. The barstools are the same as the chairs, just higher. It's good! I'll go back when I'm in the neighborhood at an off peak time.“
“Lots to do! We chose the mini golf, but we will be back for more fun. They had batting cages, foot golf, mini golf, and MORE! The full service bar was great. Although we didn't get food, it looked and smelled good and you could see right into the kitchen while they were preparing.“
“Offering indoor and outdoor putt putt options, Vitense is a terrific place to have some golfing fun. They also have a driving range, simulator, full bar and restaurant... what is not to love. The staff is friendly and they try to keep the place in ship shape and operating smoothly.“
“A great little hole in the wall neighborhood bar. Not the biggest of places. But that is ok. Good selection of rotating tap beers. All sorts of good bar food options. Cheesecurds, burgers, tator tots, chicken wings, even veggie burgers. TVs all over the place to watch your favorite team play. Recommend stopping in if you happen to be close by.Vegetarian options: Veggie Burger was homemade, French fries, Rice soup, tator tots.“
“It's a bar, so have realistic expectations. I've been here before but it's been a few years. The burgers were good, but nothing spectacular. They ran out of fish for Friday night fish fry. This was during lent and we dined around 8pm so it was no real surprise and wasn't a deal breaker.Service was great. The server was very attentive and apologized for the lack of fish fry. She gave my friend a nice discount on the regular cod meal so he was more than satisfied.Atmosphere is basically standard bar. It wasn't too loud and not super busy when we were there. Overall a good experience and I would go back.“
“Very good food..only things I didn't like was the prices and the sauce for the shrimp.... otherwise the food was very delicious...wonderful view...would've like to go on the patio, but was filled..app prices were too expensive, but everything else was fair.“
“We walked in at 8:50 pm and 10 minutes left until the kitchen closed. We are from out of town and wanted fish fry after our sons basketball tournament was over. The server and bartender made sure we were fed and took our order immediately after we said we'd go somewhere else if it the cooks were ready to close. They were insistent that we stay and it was OK to stay for food. So kind and polite. Food was delicious and if we are in the area again we are definitely stopping in again.“
“Still one of my favorite dive bars in Wisconsin. Had a pretty good burger this time too. Got to pet a couple of good dogs and was able to enjoy a pair of reasonably priced beers. Glad to see some things have stayed awesome since I left this beautiful town.“
“Ordered food and had my number but noticed it was taking a long time and then noticed people that ordered after us were already eating. Looks like they lost our order some how but after asking several times they asked what we ordered and just went and got it for us.“
“Great spot to be in Madison! 3 floors to spread out on, not crammed like sardines like other spots. Top floor has dancing with DJ's- super fun! DJ's play lots of different music, so you'll be dancing all night. Nice staff with quick service too. Gets busy on game days, so be prepared to wait like most spots in Madison. Highly recommend on the weekends!“
“A buddy and I were passing through while headed to a Twins-Cubs game in MSP via Wisconsin Dells. We had wanted to eat in Madison around the college but it was graduation weekend and everything was booked and had huge waits. So we ended up here. I am so glad we did! My buddy had the fish fry and I had a burger. He said the fish was outstanding and my burger was on the best I have had in years. I wish this place was closer to home!“
