“Had a day off so I went to the New Glarus Brewing Company, I wanted to come here before I left Wisconsin, really kool place. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to take the tour but I bought some really nice souvenirs to take back with me, which I thought were reasonably priced, also taking a case of spotted cow back with me. ??”
“Romantic atmosphere. Outstanding menu selection. Really delicious Salmon, Wiener Schnitzel, Lobster Bisque and Lemon Ginger Cheesecake. Very friendly, professional service. Great location. We'll be back!”
“My husband and I had our wedding at Fest Haus and it was amazing! Kennedy was incredible communicating with me, helping set up, making sure we had everything we needed, and helping clean up. The bartenders that weekend were incredible as well! We highly recommend Fest Haus for your wedding, or any gathering!”
“Shane was fabulous, talked me into something new! Look forward to seeing him againDietary restrictions: We have a dairy allergy and Accommodated our pizza to those needs”
“Lovely swiss bakery. You can tell and taste the authenticity in all of their baked goods. The molasses cookies are delicious! I definitely recommend New Glarus Bakery.”
“A fun place to drop in for some ice cream or a burger. The cheeseburger was delicious. Soft bun with crisped edges, perfectly cooked patty that wasn't too thick or too thin, great cheese selection, and fresh toppings. The perfect summertime lunch or treat spot.”
“Younger bartender was absolutely amazing. Hostess was super nice. Found out the owner, John, was a childhood friend and he was busy working right alongside everyone else.Cheese fondue is amazing”
“An old style bar with good basic food. The staff is friendly and service is good. It is worth going just to see the Original Back all wood bar built in 1912 and Murals painted in 1913.”
“Our family of 14 embarked on a mini spring break trip to Madison, WI and our first stop was at New Glarus, also known as Little Switzerland. This is a quaint and beautiful town with a population of just slightly overly 2,000. Some of the items that we ordered are the cheese curds, fried mushroom, fried cheese BLT, mini potato pancakes, Ott Haus burger, and currywurst. The latter three particularly stood out. The mini potato pancakes were well-fried and crispy. The Ott Haus burger was the 2023 Green County Burger Contest Winner and rightfully so! It was exceptional especially with the house-made bourbon bacon jam. The currywurst brought back fond memories of my business travels to Germany. We upgraded the burgers and sandwiches to come with fries and tater tots instead of house chips. Portions were generous and everyone was stuffed. The restaurant isn't very big but thankfully it was a Thursday afternoon so it was not overly busy and we were able to combine three tables to accommodate for our party size. Another thing to take note of is that they charge an additional fee for credit card users. I guess it's understandable since this is a small establishment in a small town. However, for our party size, the bill was easily +$200 and who would carry that much cash these days?”
“The only place in New Glarus with a pool table. Certainly the #1 place to drink when you're here. The food is bar food, but really well made. The cheese curds and burgers are amazing.”
“Went to check out the town and decided to stop in for an afternoon coffee. Service was great and staff was friendly. I tried one of the special coffees of the month. It was quite tasty.”
“The food is great and there was a lot to choose from. There was adequate staff that was efficient during an apparently frequent busy day. It was a relaxing and worry free cocktail and dining experience. I hope to have an opportunity to visit here again soon.”
“The place was busy on a Friday night, they seemed short staffed but were quite friendly and served us well. The pizza was delicious, I had a barbecue pulled pork sandwich, also very tasty.”
“I must say that this restaurant has vastly improved, in my opinion. About a year ago I had a terrible experience and was pretty sure I wasn't going back. I decided to give it another go recently and their staff has always been prompt, accommodating, and just downright friendly. They strive to have online orders ready when the time comes and no matter how busy they are at times, they always seem to care. I really think they have good people and owners who care.”
“Despite the constant forgetting food with your orser, No Culvers in state makes chicken tenders as good as this place does. They practically melt in your mouth. 9/10 ”
“Dot’s Tavern is a quintessential rural Wisconsin dive bar experience. Walking down to the basement bar feels like walking down the steep steps to your friend’s parent’s home bar. The service is as you’d expect, straight to the point, but happy to engage in conversation, especially when there’s a game on. Don’t forget the shake of the day!”
“We arrived on a weekday invited by friends. It was our first visit and it was superb! Our host greeted us in a very friendly manner speaking distinctly and at the level that we elder (80s) people love to hear. Our food choices involved four different entrees and each drew praise. The service continued to be exemplary and our pleasant surroundings assured our host that we would be returning...soon.My wife and I highly recommend eating at this establishment!”
“First, let me start by saying this place is absolutely adorable.Great food (I recommend the Meredith Panini, so delish), great staff & GREAT coffee.Dietary restrictions: LOVE that dairy free options are available!”
“It's my local! We moved to Belleville August of 2021, and I adore this place. Was made welcome almost immediately. Great food, great people. I strongly suggest any of the burgers, the Reuben when it's 'in season' (starts at St Patrick's day, goes til they're tired of making it), Thursday night nachos, Wednesday s'ghetti. Biscuits and Gravy that can make a Southerner cry (happily)! They don't take cards, but there's an ATM in the corner. Lots of alcohol choices to boot.”
“This is one of our favorite places in the summer, as their outdoor beer garden is spectacular under the trees, along the river, dog friendly, and typically with live music. We even bike there sometimes. We were in the area this winter and stopped by and enjoyed our indoor visit as well! They have a few tables and simple games and the historical building is fun to explore as there are multiple seating areas depending on what type of vibe you are looking for. The building itself connects indoors to a cute shop as well and there are plenty of nearby areas to grab and bring in food. They are dog friendly and have water bowls as well as treats for your furry friends, and I've always had friendly bartenders who are willing to let you try beer samples to ensure you get something you like. The hops are grown locally and the beer is made in small batches so it rotates between visits. They added some cute merchandise items as well including free small stickers, if they aren't out just ask!”
“Fun small town bar! The bartenders and owner are wonderful always make you feel welcome and very friendly. The drinks and food are delicious and great prices. Stop by and say hi to Petey”
“Beautiful renovation to an historic building in downtown Monticello now known as the Pink Heifer.Delicious smoked meats are a real treat from an experienced chef who really knows his food. The antique bar is one of a kind!”
“As many of you may know I am an Extreamly Picky Eater. (because I love food and spent over 35 years in the food industry. While in Monticello pet sitting we I remembered seeing a sign in the windows of Jave Lava on Main street the week before announcing JonnyO's Pizzeria was now sharing their location after 4pm offering pizza along with varied weekly specials. Gyros was on for Thursday nite special and having planted that seed in my brain I thought I give them a go. We found their website and proceeded to order 2 Gyros and fries online for pickup. Now, I must say and I dont say this lightly. Jonny O's Pizzeria Gyro's are the best Gyros I've found in all of Green County Wisconsin. I live in this area since 2000. I was happily surprised and delighted. The meat was excellent, not that chopped and perfectly formed slice that so many places use. No, it was like the kind you'd get in Madison at Parthenon's on State street 20 years ago. Tasted like the meat was roasted on a slab like in Madison. The tomatoes were a perfect size, not to big, not to small, not mushie or slimy, the onions, even tho they were purple and not the traditional white onion as I am accustomed to, they were the correct size, fresh and crunchy. The sauce was on the side and it was thick and creamy, (just as a great Gyros sauce should be)My hats off to you on the excellent gyro sauce, wow! What a fantastic surprise. Great Gyros in Monticello. AWESOME FOR ALL OF US!So, I had to tell all of you to give em try, if the pizza is even close to the quality of their Gyro, Monticello just hit the jackpot on the takeout scene.I will return, looking forward to your pizza and many more tasty Gyros from Jonny O's Pizzeria located inside the Java Lave Cafe on Main Street in downtown Monticello, WI. Visit their website and order today. They also have a Belleville location too. Thanks for the tasty yummy hit the spot, Gyro. It's been a long time comming. Thank you, thank you thank you!! PollyVegetarian options: They did offer a cauliflower crust for Keto & Gluten Free folk. Along with veggie options. SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE.”
“I'm reluctant to say anything about the cute little town of Paoli. So many fun things to see and do. Love the gypsy and the cocktails in a bag downstairs. Beer from the hop garden...awesome ”
“Just a little bar in a little town with great burgers and fries. Food came out quickly and tasted great, free refills on pop. Couldn't ask for more or better, will be going back frequently..Parking: along the street and in front of bar.”
“I was there on opening night. Sometime after that I had the best ribs I've ever had. Tonight I had them again and they were even better somehow. The slaw is still different than anything I've had. Sides like potato pancakes (latkes) and cowboy beans. A bar with rare bourbons. I'm almost 67 and have been to a lot of places. It's hard to imagine this place is in a town with a third of the people on my last cruise ship. I want to do anything I can to make sure I can go here whenever I can spend such wonderful calories.Parking: Not a concern.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp”
“Most popular place in town. Only open weekends and a few other special days. Just beer and hard ciders and root beer. Free popcorn. The pulled pork is made in house. The owners are wonderful people whose only hire people who want to help people have fun. Everyone likes the U-Pour-It system. It's fun to play by the ounce. Very dog friendly. Great logo merch at great prices.Vegetarian options: Curds, pretzels, Mac and cheese. Maybe others.”
