Cronuts and chocolate mountains are a favorite to me. Order the cronuts a day ahead of time because unless you’re there super early they will be gone. Their Kringle is sweet, crispy and tasty. I’ve also ordered cakes from them and the cake is always moist and the frosting creamy, buttery goodness.

No cranberry walnut kringle. There is no printing on kringle bags. It's very disappointing where this once great bakery is headed . So sad ?

I’ve done side-by-side taste tests and Bendtsen’s bests O&H and, when they were still in business. Larsen’s, though all are very good. But Bendtsen’s stands out. Why? Butter. Lots of it. Other bakers skimp and use a high percentage of margarine with considerably less butter in their pastry. And contrary to another reviewer’s statement they do not use lard. Do your own side-by-side taste test and you’ll get it. When I first met my future in-laws from Racine 40 years ago they always bought I&H. When I brought a Kringle from Bendtsen’s, they uniformly remarked: that’s what Kringle USED to taste like.

I like Bendtsens kringle over all others (who will remain unnamed). The dough is both flakey and tender, fillings are fresh and glaze is light. We bought a classic pecan, a toasted pecan, a cheese, a cherry cheesecake, a cheesecake, an almond and a raspberry on our last trip to WI. Recommend all.
