“Love this place. Friendly staff, yummy food, good coffee. They almost always have some kind of specialty lattes for the season. I love that they also have local artisans goods available for purchase, and how the music theme is everywhere! If you go, make sure you tickle the ivories while you're there!”
“The new owners of this bar have done a great job giving it a second life. The kitchen got a full renovation. They added an outdoor patio and have live music in the summer. I tried their strawberry kiwi seltzer, which was tasty and refreshing. My dad had a few of their beers and really enjoyed them. I tired the pulled pork sandwich which was new to the permanent menu due to customer request. It was delicious! The fried pickles and cheese curds were great too. Can't wait to go back in the summer.”
“Food is awesome. Service is fast and friendly. Prices are very reasonable and you get large portions. Besides all of this the owner Scott is a very friendly and awesome guy! Keep it up Scott! Looking forward to going back. Thank you. ?”
“Was pleasantly surprised that we able to get a fish fry after 9pm!It was perfect, just what we needed! Excellent drinks and fairly priced. We will definitely be back!”
“We have found our new "happy place!"It's called "Whispers" and it's right on the banks of the Maunesha River in Waterloo. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by the happy, friendly staff. Thank you Penny, for making us feel so welcomed. The place was clean and the service was exceptional!Even the patrons seemed lively and inviting. The atmosphere was tastefully done with a lot of unique, quaint and interesting memorobelia. The large, new deck on the outside was gorgeous with its backdrop of the river and all the natural beauty that comes along with it, including the beautiful wildlife.Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, we learned there is going to be LIVE MUSIC!Time for me to head to "Shoe-La-La" for some comfortable dancing shoes! (Cowboy boots would work too.)The wonderful owner "WHISPER", who I had the pleasure to meet, is as beautiful as the Roadhouse itself, both inside and out.Thank you Whisper, for all the hard work you've put into the first rate place this has become.WHISPER'S ROADHOUSE a.k.a. "Our new happy place!"”
“Great spot to stop and have a bite. We ate here on a few occasions and the meals were fresh and tasty. Appears to be a mixture of locals and expats that frequent the restaurant. Overall good food at reasonable prices”
“Had breakfast here on a Sunday morning so the cafe was quite busy. The waitstaff was excellent and I received my order probably 3 minutes after ordering. I had the country fried steak and eggs. The food was hot and everything was cooked to perfection. Will absolutely be stopping back when traveling through Waterloo.”
“Went with a coworker after work. Chatty and her bar tender were very pleasant. Popcorn is available at no charge. The tapped mugs of beer were very good after a very hot day on the job site. I look forward to stopping again.”
“My partner had been here years ago, so we were on the beaten path and stopped in. Only 1 other person besides the outgoing friendly bartender. The place looked the way alot of old taverns in small towns off the beaten path look. The original owners of these types of historic structures basically built a 2 story house with a separate entrance on the lower level for a small tavern. The folks who began trickling in were friendly & open to unfamiliar faces, and we stayed for 2nds to enjoy the laughs and stories. So take a left , drive the "off the beaten path" back roads, and slam on the brakes when you see beers signs, and an American flag in the front parking 'Lawn', and stop in!”
“Seriously the greatest pickles I’ve ever had. Perfect for my busy life, and have the most nostalgic memories eating them as a kid. Will always be a fan of Van Holtens!”
“It's an upscale brewery on the inside. They have several beers ? on tap to meet anyone's taste. For the non beer lovers. They have some interesting seltzers available. They have a different food menu that peaks your interest. The food we had was very good. The bar staff were very friendly and helpful ? We were very happy we stopped and will be back. They have a large patio next to the building to enjoy the weather.”
“What an adorable coffeehouse! I can't believe I never knew about it until now. The coffee was perfect, and the maple blueberry muffin was delish! Can't wait for my next coffee date :)”
“Visiting friends inMadison. They took us here on Friday night for fish. We were very happy with our food &:service. I had the baked cod my husband the fried cod. Our friends had wings & Bluegill. Nice sized bar & large eating area. They have many choices of beer from the taproom. All the tables were full when we left. That is always a good sign.”
“A very nice, personable waiter with very tasty burgers. We enjoyed the atmosphere as well, though the beer brands everywhere was a bit much. Thanks for making our night!”
“Ice cream was delicious! Love the outdoor seating, has plenty of tables. The gentleman at the counter was the owner and he was very sweet. Love to see an owner operated business. 10/10”
“Stop stopped in for lunch. I had the Swiss burger. The staff was excellent. Overall experience was great. The other items on the menu will definitely be back to try something different. Or maybe just stick to what’s good. Glad we stopped in. Will definitely be back.”
“I've eaten chimichangas for years, from across the country. The shredded beef chimichanga I had here was, by far, the best one I've ever had. The flavor of the fried tortilla and the chuck roast like shredded beef and cheese filling was outstanding and unique.”
“Excellent little hometown coffee shop in an extremely convenient location. What a convenience to be able to get a tasty warm or iced beverage to walk around with, as you shop at the local grocery store. Located just inside the entrance to the store, across from the Sushi and cold beverages, lies this tasty haven of coffee and other liquid concoctions to whet your whistle. Stop in today and make your tastebuds very happy!Wheelchair accessibility: Can access this shop with ease in a wheelchair.”
“This is a great small-town spot! My friend and I were coming back from a bikepacking trip on the nearby bike trail, and this little pub gave us everything we wanted.Jalapeno poppers, mac & cheese bites, and fried cod were all delicious!Tasty food, cool and cozy decor, and very friendly staff. We had a great chat with the locals and with bartender/server/cook/bar owner Kim and her husband Tim. Very welcoming and friendly bunch here, check them out when you're in town!”
“Lumber. Jack. Breakfast. You can thank me later. It is life changing. This was where we went the day after moving in. I'm pretty sure it saved my life. We stop here regularly. I love this place. You can't really go wrong with anything on their menu. This is the kind of food that feeds your soul. The wait staff calls you honey. It just makes you feel like you're eating breakfast at grandmas house. You never leave her unsatisfied or hungry.”
“Service was fast, fish fry & old fashioneds = yum ? We stayed after finishing our food for a bit because it wasn’t too busy and enjoyed the atmosphere. Not too loud. And our waitress was cool. Easy dinner @ easy landing.”
“Great music and staff!! Love the food... pizza is delicious! Always a good time! They always have something happening (live music is great!) check out their calander to see upcoming events.”

“Local bar, owner is awesome, fish fry was pretty good, burgers are decent, orange and black biker theme.Parking: Maybe 10 cars or so before it's pretty packed parking is available along south side of Old hwy G and has been recently de-brushed and trees thinned.Kid-friendliness: Kiddie cocktails, place is pretty tame within normal lunch dinner hours, mostly locals”
“Delightful little shop full of hotdog themed antiques. Traditional Chicago dog is the way to go, in my opinion, but they'll accommodate Wisconsinites with ketchup and kraut.Friendly owner. Offers gluten free buns.”
“Great place that has been serving burgers for close to 100 years. Deep fried in lard these sliders (0.2lbs each) go down easy. I would get 2-3 of these depending on hunger. They come "with" or "without" (fried onions) and also have the optional slice of cheese.”
“Very good breakfast.FYI: the American fries are actually French fries rather than the sliced potatoes that some restaurants carry. It makes for a nontraditional breakfast if you accidentally ordered those for your side potatoes.Vegetarian options: Standard breakfast optionsKid-friendliness: YesWheelchair accessibility: Yes”
“We went on a Friday. It was busy (just like any good fish fry on a Friday night) but we ordered at the bar and didn't have to wait too long. The fish is delicious (We had Walleye and Cod). Boneless wings were big and tossed in the sauce and the cheese curds and tots we had were really good.”
“Nowhere else I would start my day off from. Atmosphere and DJ are amazing and bright every morning! Whether before a round of golf or before work, starting with one of her teas is just what is needed.”
