“I'm from the East Coast (NY) and recently my Brother in-law and I visited a few cities in the state of California. First, we spent a few days visiting family in Los Angeles and Santa Ana. At the last minute of booking the trip, my Brother in-law decided he wanted to visit an old college buddy named Roderick (Roddy) in Oakland. He mentioned that Roddy had a BBQ restaurant named Roderick's BBQ. So the plan was to fly down from Santa Ana to San Francisco, make the drive to Oakland and spend our final evening in California hanging out with Roddy at his restaurant. I didn't know what to expect because I had never met him. Well, he rolled out the red carpet along with some of the finest food (not just BBQ) you will ever have in your life. You name it, we had it, and it all tasted incredible. Ribs, Tri-Tip, BBQ Chicken, Hot Links, Fried Chicken, Fried Catfish, French Fries, Mac & Cheese, and Potato Salad. The Ribs were tender and perfectly cooked, as was the BBQ Chicken. The Tri-Tip was tender and just melted in your mouth. The Hot Links had the perfect amount of flavor and heat. The fried chicken and catfish was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and tasted great. The french fries had a light dusting of their in-house seasoning that was absolutely amazing. The Potato Salad and Mac & Cheese was incredible as well and to wash it all down was some of the most amazing Kool-Aid ever. The type of Kool-Aid that takes you back to your childhood. You better believe the next time I'm on the West Coast, I'm getting me some Roderick's BBQ. This place is a hidden gem and if you live in the Oakland area, you should run (not walk) to Roderick's BBQ immediately and try some of this amazing food. If you live 1-2 hours away, it's definitely worth the drive. Pull up a chair, enjoy the food, and tell Roddy that Chris and Sean sent you and he'll take good care of you. Plus, he's a great guy, a great storyteller, but he's an even better cook.Kudos to Roderick's BBQ!!!“

“Consistent quality and good food. We enjoy bringing our son here because he enjoys the kids' breakfast options. We like the veggies and healthy sides. It's much better than going to a greasy spoon diner. Prices did go up, hence 4/5 stars, but we still come here when we are splurging on breakfast. Expect to spend $15-20 for adults and $10-15 for kids. My go-to is Joe's scramble with a side of kale and brocollini and herb toast or roasted sweet potatoes. I miss the free pastry bites they used to give to every table before they switched to fast-casual. Please bring the pastries back!“

“Just tried Thank Que Grill and it was delicious. The location is hard to spot, but don't let that deter you. When you get there, there's tons of parking space, and they have a really lovely shaded outdoor seating area in the back. You can see the care and love that Chef Rene has put into renovating the place. Definitely feeling a good family vibe from behind the counter, got a sample of the juicy chicken before ordering one of their Filipino Bánh mì sandwiches. Make no assumptions, this looks like a Bánh mì, but has a totally distinctive flavor of its own. I didn't get a chance to try the lumpia because I was in a rush but will be heading back (with friends) to try more items.“

“Wow, Fikscue Craft BBQ is absolutely amazing! Despite the 90-minute wait and the long line, it was totally worth it. Finding delicious BBQ in San Francisco is a challenge, but just head over to Alameda for a fantastic experience. The food is mouth-watering and unforgettable. Don't miss out!“

“My friend and I visited for lunch on a Saturday and like other reviewers, appreciated that there were lunch specials on a Saturday. We both ordered the short ribs lunch special which included banchan side dishes. The short ribs were delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The staff were super friendly and also checked back with us as to whether we wanted additional banchan. Restaurant was clean. We will definitely be back.“

“I LOVE Bento & Bowls. I always order the bulgogi bowl for take out online. It’s plenty of food and it’s consistently good.I’ve never eaten at the restaurant, it’s definitely meant to be a take out spot. There are a couple small tables if you realllly want to eat there. There’s a small, free parking lot. Could park on the street too.Anyway, go here if you don’t feel like cooking dinner :)“

“Was looking for a place to eat on my birthday new years day, my stepbro picked it out, he said he ate there 20 yrs ago, I was reluctant as it looked outdated and empty, but I was surprised when the food came in quickly, the staff was friendly and the plates of food were huge! I kept asking my bro if he accidentally ordered family size, nope. We ordered egg rolls, 1 order must have had 10 pieces! Delicious spare ribs, wonton soup, honey walnut prawns (jumbo!) Mongolian beef, they gave us almond cookies instead of fortune, that was a nice change, there was so much food leftover to take home, I'll be going back, I don't know how they can afford to give so much for so little $, very reasonable.the only thing was the place was so cold, we were both freezing. no heat!“

“Hazy is on our short list of go-to restaurants- for very good reason! The BBQ is so delicious!! While my husband's favorite is the brisket, mine is the pulled pork, particularly when you add it to the Tuscon salad (so yum!). And, don't miss the garlic bread in every order you make, you'll be as addicted to it as we are.Great atmosphere to dine in (often live music), and take out is seamless. Everyone is always so friendly and in a good mood too.We love the holiday specials (so smart and they change it up to make it seasonal!) - every year for Christmas, it's a godsend to have Hazy's prime rib to remove a little stress from our holiday- and it always gets rave reviews.Delighted to have this gem so close by, and love how the owners are so supportive of the community and local school fundraising.“

“Kinder's never disappoints. It's a real treat for me, so I don't go as often as I'd like fresh everything. I especially love the rib eye sandwich. Sometimes the eat in area is less than spotless. But I usually do a togo order. And it usually lasts me for two mealsWheelchair accessibility: They have a large entry but the doors are not automatic.“

“Most of the traffic that came to the store was for pick up, as far as I could see, so be prepared to wait a while to get your order filled or even to be called for ordering. BUT, if you can wait that long, the filet mignon sandwich will make you feel it was all worth it!“

“Kid-friendliness: My 8 year old daughter loves going to Back 40! Laid-back and fun environment for the whole family. Very accommodating, as we were delayed of our initial reservation time, but they called us to check-in while we were on our way, and they were able to seat us right away even though we were 30 minutes later than our expected arrival time.“

“Had not been in about a decade. Traditional Korean food done right, with good service. It was packed on a Saturday night. Seafood pancake, tasty fresh banchan, beer, short rib rice stonepot, spicy seafood. Not horribly expensive. The spot for craving Korean.“

“I came here today on my lunch break. Now, I already had food with me but I was extra hungry and decided to add onto my chicken & rice from home. I had gotten a small a-la-carte box of Galbi Fried Chicken, after being given a sample of it recommended by the employee. Given that I had only gotten 1 thing here + a can of Pepsi Zero, this review is solely based on the Galbi Fried Chicken. It was good chicken! This may be a mall food court restaurant, but it could pass as a dine-in restaurant quality food. The chicken had that authentic Korean fried chicken feel & flavor to it as well as the sauce that was on it. The chicken was still pretty crunchy, considering it was just in a food warmer! And the serving of a small box was still a decent portion, in which was only less than $6! If you're at the mall for any reason, and you get hungry but don't feel like driving to another destination, this place is a good option!“

“Berkeley Students' Best Bang for the Buck! New Management Brings a Fresh Culinary Experience!Hello everyone! Today, I want to introduce you to a restaurant located in Berkeley that used to be relatively unknown, with mediocre food. However, now, with new management taking over, it has undergone a remarkable transformation, making it the go-to place for Berkeley students in terms of value for money! The restaurant's name hasn't changed, but the owner has, so make sure to remember the address!First, let's talk about the prices. At this restaurant, $100 can easily satisfy two people with an abundance of delicious dishes! Whether you're a student or a working professional, this price point is incredibly budget-friendly. What's more, the quality of the food has seen a significant improvement. If you're a fan of spicy food, then this place is an absolute paradise for you. Their spicy hot pot and hot dishes will not disappoint. Moreover, if you feel it's not spicy enough, you can request extra spice, and they'll tailor it to your taste.Overall, the changes at this restaurant are truly astonishing. Whether it's the taste of the food or the affordability of the prices, it's hard to believe. If you're a Berkeley student, this place is undoubtedly the king of budget-friendly and nearby dining options. Don't miss out on this opportunity; hurry up and give it a try!“

“Located in the old Chinese Express spot (RIP) -- this place is clean and fast! Generous portions, and they have mini plates if you want less food. I imagine it's great for students living around there. Tried it on a whim, as I was really craving some chicken katsu. The only reason I am giving four stars and not five is because the chicken katsu sauce was lose money.... a total miss. It was watery, and didn't taste at all like the ketchup + worcestershire sauce mixture that katsu sauce is supposed to taste like. It was just weird. No big deal -- I just made my own -- but this is a critical part of a chicken katsu plate! Please fix this, Moku BBQ, so that people can properly enjoy chicken katsu. Otherwise, I was satisfied (as satisfied as I can reasonably expect to be, eating "Hawaiian BBQ" anywhere outside of Hawaii). If you're from Hawaii and want to eat katsu, you can get some passable katsu here -- but be prepared to make your own sauce.“

“Ball-tip sandwich is soo good. Only reason I dinged the service is they can be really busy and the way the service works it can take a really long time to be served. But the food is worth the wait. I suggest calling your order in ahead of time.“

“Great location! Everything was hot & fresh. You can tell they use fresh grease for frying. We ordered chicken katsu & bbq short rib combo plate and the chicken katsu & fried shrimp combo plate. The mac salad was well dressed and not runny. The cabbage was firm and fresh. The chicken was crispy and juicy. The short ribs were tender and had a lot of meet on them rather than too much fat. The teriyaki sauce was nice because it had an extra touch of ginger. The portion size is enough to last 3 servings! The location was clean. The cashier was friendly.“
“This is a bit late but we catered a 50th Birthday and the food, service and set up were all absolutely phenomenal! Our guests loved the meal and everything about the experience was perfect! Willy was so professional and partnered to make sure all of the details and plans met our needs. We definitely will use again!!“

“UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP & THE FOOD SMACKS! ?I was in the area today I read the reviews before deciding to put in a togo order The reviews seems inconsistent so I was a lil hesitant But I'm REALLY GLAD I decided to try this place todayMy kids really wanted mac n cheese We also got brisket, greens, coleslaw & cornbread Their CHEF, Lamar, actually helped me out front He was really nice and FRIENDLY Also the woman who took my phone order was very KIND and patient with my 20 questions (Sorry didn't catch her name) It was definitely GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICEThe kids wanted to go eat outside at a picnic table at a nearby park Coincidently, as we were eating, a woman approached and asked if we were eating All the Smoke She asked how I liked the food She told me it was under new ownership now and things are straighted out And I think she said they're using the same 'ole recipes that customers have loved Something like thatI saw a recent review complain on the BRISKET Well mine was cooked perfect It was JUICY enough and MOIST The BBQ SAUCE is very GOOD The GREENS were PERFECT! I am obsessed with greens with hot sauce And they are hard to find where I live So I was excited to see that they make them @ All the SmokeThe kids loved the mac! They kept asking for more The MAC 'N CHEESE was GOOD But I like it with bread crumbs and I think it could have used more cheddar and something else I can't pinpoint But it's definitely still worth eating, don't get me wrong I'm just a picky person who has tried too many potluck mac n cheeses over the years n thinks I know what's bestThe COLESLAW was PERFECT and DELICIOUS The CORN BREAD was PRETTY DAMN PERFECT Just ask them to pack your butter & honey separately or your butter will melt all in the bottom of the cornbread container n can make the bottoms soggyOverall I really have NO COMPLAINTS My mac n cheese critique is the only thing I could even come up with My family LOVED ALL THE SMOKE so much, we ate it twice, first for our late lunch and then again, we finished it off for dinner There are NO LEFTOVERS TONIGHTMy 4 year old and 8 year old's top 3 favorite dishes were the brisket with bbq sauce, mac n cheese and cornbread Their Grandma who has become a very picky & difficult eater due to her dementia, finished her plate and not one complaint! ?We would buy all those dishes again It was really tasty I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!“
