“I took my wife and mother-in-law to the Mother's Day brunch at the Lafayette Park Hotel. The buffet option was exceptional, with plenty of very fresh seafood options, a number of vegetarian and non-meat options, cheese and fruit, as well as an entrée from a predetermined list. The dessert selections were incredible! Luis was our server and was absolutely fantastic! He catered to our orders exceptionally well, was attentive and ensured we had a great experience. Overall, fantastic experience to celebrate the wonderful ladies in my life. “

“I'm obsessed with Mother Tongue coffee beans, been buying them from Seattle Coffee Gear at Stanford. I also found them at the SF Coffee Festival last year. I finally went to their cafe in Oakland and it was interesting, it is more of a bar than a coffee shop. Maybe this is a happening bar after work? The decorations are random and nothing like I was expecting (streamers everywhere, Cartoon Network projected on wall, and current hits playing over the loud speaker). They do have a seating area outside too.They don't have a menu/drink board. I happen to look up their menu online before we arrived but didn't realize the paper menus were near their payment system till afterwards. Because of this, we forgot they even served food other than pastries-we probably would have purchased.We had a latte, coffee tonic, apple fritter, and we bought two bags of beans. Everything was delicious and we would go again.“

The bratwurst is perfect with the kraut and horseradish. The smoked bison is a bit on the dry and spicy side. Reminds me of a Slim Jim. I wish I tasted more bison, but it's still good. The herbed goat cheese and lavash bread is to die for! The herbs are perfectly balanced with the cheese and spreads so easily on the bread!All paired perfectly with Zin-phomaniac red wine!“

“We've been to Wisegirl twice and had great food both times. We sit in their open "alcove" next to the actual restaurant, which works great for us -- with one exception. Both times, when our food came, we still had no table settings. We had to wait, and in one visit, had to ask twice. They need to bring table settings when they seat you or take your order.“

For the main course, we got the Meat Combination Platter for Two. It came with 3 Ethiopian meat specialties such as the Doro Wot, Sega Wot, and Sega Alicha along with Injera, Ayib, Boiled Eggs, and a mini Salad. All of the meats were beyond flavorful and bold in taste. My friend and I finished the entire platter feeling full and satisfied. For the drink, I had a glass of Ethiopian Honey Wine. It was sweet and I enjoyed it very much. Everyone inside the restaurant was pleasant. The customer service was attentive and lovely. For the price it should come with rice or beans or at least have bigger portions. Birria tacos- 7/10 only 2 per plate, nothing else but the tacos and stew included Posole: 8/10 good taste, was a little lite on the salt but good taste and salsa. Jamaica- more tangy than I'm used to but the presentation was nice. Wish they would've had Horchata. Overall I would come back and the taste of the food is definitely more authentic than most. Loved the atmosphere. And liked that they have a wide variety of drinks and cocktails and alcoholic drinks to choose from“
