“Ok if I could give 6 stars I would!! It was a Saturday so brunch was in full effect and we had to wait around 30 minutes. It was worth the wait. I had Biscuit and Brisket (no photos too busy enjoying the food) and a margarita. Seriously everything was delicious!! So flavorful. Service was great. They sat us at a larger table so we wouldn't have to wait longer and our server was attentive and fast. We're definitely going back for dinner. And I want to check out their wine spot in Walnut Creek. Oh they have seating outside with heat lamps and inside too. It's family owned and you get a sense of pride from everyone! Go.Parking: The food is good and the folks who know are coming so a full parking lot tells you something. We find parking right across the street.“

Five Suns Brewing Brewery • $$

“the beer is good BUT, it would be better if it were as cold as it is at Del Cielo a few blocks away or, at any of the other nearby bar/cantina/saloon establishments . . . ?on the other hand, it's nice that there's often a food truck outside and that they allow outside food, as it seems most most brew houses/local craft breweries do . . .“

William Welch Wines Winery • $$

“If you haven't dropped by the William Welch Tasting room, you are missing out!! A fun tasting experience with the man who makes the wine. Look for events at night like magic shows and music. You can buy wine by the glass at the events, or a few bottles like we did to take home. If you buy some wine, your tasting fee is waived.Support local and enjoy good wine. The best of both worlds.“

Mountain Grounds Coffee Shops • $
3750 Alhambra Ave #2, Martinez

“After reading an abundance of favorable Yelp reviews, I had the opportunity in checking out "Mountain Grounds". Located in the city of Martinez, this small family-owned and operated business has been in operation dating back to 2013. Situated only a 1/2 mile north of Highway 4 (on Alhambra Ave. and J St.), this place offers a nice selection of coffees, teas, Italian sodas, pastries, and even breakfast sandwiches. During my visit which was on Saturday, 4/20/2024, I had the chance of meeting the owner, John who prepared my drink. Keep in mind that this place is tiny with no indoor seating and no restrooms. However, they do have a decent outdoor patio area (weather permitting). Otherwise, the orders are strictly to-go. I will say this and that is they have very respectable business hours. They are opened weekdays from 5:30am-5:00pm and weekends from 6:30am-5:00pm. That really makes it convenient if you're an early bird to get to school, work, etc. Upon my arrival which was around 10:30am, I wanted a light snack and coffee to get me through the morning. I ended up getting a "Raspberry Crumble Tart" to eat. This hit the spot as it was sweet, savory, and absolutely delicious. To drink, I went with an "Iced Brown Sugar Latte". I have to say that this was above average and not too bitter (as I could easily recognize the brown sugar flavor). Total price for both items came out to a very reasonable $8.50 + tax. Even though this place is tiny, they definitely offer a reasonable amount to offer. Since many already know what to expect on the beverage side, I'll go into detail of their signature food items. This includes a breakfast sandwich, keto cup (eggs, cheese, sausage, bacon), omelets, panini, and a grilled cheese sandwich. And of course your muffins, bagels, Danishes, and bananas. When you factor in the above average service, reasonable prices, and tasty food & drinks, I am giving "Mountain Grounds" an above average four star rating.“

“An Amtrak layover for me. First time in this city. A lady at the Chamber of Commerce recommended it to me. Walking distance from the train station. I had the large Gyros. The meat was seasoned wonderfully. Yet, that beautiful meat taste was overcome by excessive lettuce. Thereby, not having as much meat as other places. When I go back I will take off the majority of the lettuce, but I still take issue with the lack of a good quantity of meat. The first picture is after I cut it in half. Another patron had the Greek fries which looked wonderful. I will go back and try them with another dish, but as far as the Gyros, not enough meat for the price. But let me state clearly...what meat was present was absolutely wonderfully tasty.“

“I adore the espresso martinis here. i wish they could be served all the time and not just at night when the bar part is open. The oat milk in the espresso is just one of its. delightful, magical secrets. The salmon bagel is an absolute wonder. The capers add that little zing that make your mouth smile. I love coming here on Sundays in the early afternoons, right after the farmers market. I get to celebrate having gone to the market, having purchased some fresh fruit, smoked salmon (hopefully!), poke, and veggies. Then I can come here have an energizing and relaxing martini and get the week off to a great start.“
