She calls me and asks if I can bring her a salad from The Village Italian Restaurant. Sure, I tell her...I'll leave Napa right now, go to Navato to pick up a salad from The Village Italian Restaurant, and bring it all the way out to you in West Marin. The salad sure looked great, and Chapstick was her typical self...she gave me 6 dollars for my time.6 whole dollars!The salad was ☆☆☆☆☆ delicious.“

“We enjoyed the most delicious meal. Authentic Italian cooking with wonderful attention to detail. I started with a salad of pear and radicchio. It's not pear season so I expected an unripe pear with minimal flavor to be honest. But I love radicchio so went for it. The pear was juicy and tender. What a delicious contrast to the crunchy radicchio and mustard vinaigrette. If that much care is given to the salad you can imagine how delicious the rest of the meal was. We left our plates scraped clean. ? They have a fabulous and affordable wine list and the staff make you feel like longtime friends. Our table was flanked by devoted regulars who were effusive in their love of Chef Valenti's talents. We could see why! We went on a busy weekend night and they never made us feel rushed to turn the table. For sure this is the best Italian food in san anselmo— but I'm just gonna call it. You can't get more delicious Italian food in all of Marin.“

“This is the best restaurant in San Rafael and they have a lot of nice ones here but this place is perfection. Food is amazing. They are fast and the service is (only) the best service you have ever experienced. That’s all. Just that.Do yourself a favor, and go here and treat yourself. “I was unexpectedly invited to dinner at this restaurant yesterday. The ambiance is warm & convivial- casual yet with the type of attentive service that I've only seen at much more formal (and pricier!) establishments. I have a number of food sensitivities/allergies and dining out can be very challenging but this place had MANY items that I could eat. I've never been to Italy but this struck me as very authentic cuisine- high quality fresh ingredients prepared perfectly and presented beautifully. I had the asparagus salad with grilled chicken added, and prior to the food I had a Macchiato which was also perfect. I tried some of my friends' polenta crepe, also divine. We arrived a bit after 5pm on a Saturday and were seated immediately, just ahead of the evening rush. This was my first visit to Fairfax and I will definitely come back!“

“We found one of the best kept dining 'secrets' in Marin county via KQED 'Midnight eats' . We read multiple reviews on Petes before taking a chance and decided to bring our 90 year old Father in Law for his belated birthday dinner. Well, we were not sure what we were in for...but we all had a BLAST!The food is delicious, the weeknight specials were recited by the super friendly female bar-back (what ELSE do you serve?), and our server was attentive and on-point. The place is laid back in an industrial area of San Rafael, NOT PRETENTIOUS, and super casual (wear jeans and a tee!). After all, you can eat at the bar or at the few tables scattered around (its dark in there like a Vegas lounge). There is one side for eating/drinking; the other is for cards/poker games. Lighting is dim, but the service is warm, friendly and neighborly. My FIL dug into the Prime Rib Special (thursdays only) and within the hour, he polished off the entire plate of food. The slab meat filled the plate along with creamed spinach, baked potato and was delicious, melt-in-your-mouth. Our compliments to the Chef and kitchen staff! My sisters in Law had 2 burgers and raved about the fries/Onion rings, and were thrilled. The meal was great and one of the BEST VALUES IN MARIN COUNTY. Dad was impressed, and it was a 90th birthday to remember. Thank you Petes and the friendly down-to-earth staff.“

“We order from here often. Since living in a different city we usually order through doordash. Something changed in the menu where we couldn't add any special instructions. Very challenging because my daughter only likes a few foods and one specifically from this restaurant. After calling and talking to Sandra, she took the time to figure out the glitch through doordash, and now we are able to order this special meal again. Huge thank you to Sandra for caring enough to spend several days and endless hours figuring this out. I can't thank you enough!! Customer service like I haven't felt in a very long time.“

The shrimp Fettuccine and Pappardelle were perfect and again the portions were large. I wish I took a picture of the tiramisu it was super moist and the presentation was fancy! “We had a wonderful lunch experience at this new restaurant in Petaluma. It's a hidden gem in the CVS strip mall where Mary's Pizza used to be. The owner was on site and actually was our waiter. The salad was delicious (they split it for us) not over dressed and plenty of gorgozola and walnuts. Second course, I had the homemade pappardelle with bolognese sauce, it was fabulous. My friend had the lemon chicken breast, it, too, was wonderful. The wines by the glass list was also excellent. We are planning on taking the hubbies back for dinner soon. The owner told us he has a restaurant in San Francisco as well, has had it for 25 years!“

“Every time I am in the area, I have to go here for the Petaluma Pesto Pizza. They are always very fast and pizza is delicious. I was given an hour time frame for delivery, and we are only maybe 5 minutes away. Not even 30 minutes, our pizza was here and exactly how we wanted it.“

“My husband & I used to be regulars at this restaurant until we moved out of Fairfax and further north so it's been a while since I have been here. I went last night for dinner with my sister and we had a fantastic meal. The server was very attentive and patient. He was great answering our questions and held one of the appetizers she had ordered to keep it warm until I arrived. Very nice. The only thing is that now that I'm vegetarian, there weren't a lot of pasta options and I ended up with a margarita pizza. It was yummy so no complaints, but I would love it if some restaurants in Marin would start to make more of an effort for vegetarians and vegans, especially since more and more people are going at least partially plant based. I have to say that it is the running joke for me with my friends that when we go out to eat, I have the choice of a mushroom dish as an entree unless I decide to do salads or apps. There are so many other things to do for plant based appetites than mushrooms and butternut squash. And I feel like Italian should be one of those restaurants that can really do a nice job with non-meat dishes. Okay, that being said, we had a great time, the apps and wine were delicious and the dessert, Tartuffo, was as delicious as I had remembered.“

We were super hungry and tired but after parking in front of the convenience store, we smelled aromatic olives & bread and found this warm cozy pizza house beside 711. “Our family, 22 adults and 2 babies, enjoyed Sunday brunch in the larger private room. It was great to not have to worry about the noise that our chatter and laughter created! Tables were set up in a U-shape, which was conducive for lots of movement and interaction. The service was provided by one server, with help for water and drinks. People arrived at different times, so it wasn't one huge crush on the kitchen. I was able to arrange a prix fixe menu with a choice of 6 Brunch entrees, including a non-alcoholic drink for $25 per person. The menu was printed up for us and placed at every place setting. The food was well presented, with delicious bread and olive oil provided while we waited for our orders. A few items were not hot enough - coffee and french fries - but were replaced without problem. If you are gluten-free, bring your own bread! Also, some of us felt that there could have been more seasoning... but overall, we were very satisfied and appreciative!“
