“First time trying this place and I had a great experience! Service was fast and friendly and they have a great selection of food, juices and bottled/canned drinks. I tried the chicken bowl that comes with brown rice, some veggies and this awesome green sauce and it was delicious! I will definitely be back to try their other menu items.“

“First time trying this place, I brought my Aunt and wife for lunch and the ambiance is great open concept with heaters outside if it's cold but the decor is great also the music playing gets you in that relaxing mood. Service is all about the customers and if you have any questions everyone is willing to help. Menu is great because everything is made fresh and if you get the app while you are there, they have a point system and getting points also gives you certain items either free or on a discount. I got the app and in return we received free order of fries, they were delicious they also gave us free fried chips and pickles they made there and I'm not a fan of pickles but they might have changed that because I couldn't stop eating them. My wife and Aunt had the Southwestern chicken salad looked very good and I had the chopped chicken salad that was very tasty as well. To drink we all had the blackberry lemonade and it was very good. I can honestly say we will be back again and try other items on their menu. I didn't get to take pictures of my wife's and aunt's salad I was to busy eating mine, haha. Employees here are all about customer service, thank you for your service my family and will be back again!“

“Amazing service provided by Cari, she was so attentive & she had the best recommendations. Based on her recommendations, we tried the Special Coffee Flight with Oatmilk, Americano, Pastor Omelette, Chilaquiles Verdes with Chicken, and Nutella French Toast. We will start with the Special Coffee Flight which consisted of 4 sweet drinks: Mazapán iced coffee, Horchata iced coffee, Pistachio iced coffee and Abuelita iced coffee. The Mazapán iced coffee was a little textured for me since it had chunks of Mazapán in it and I wasn’t a fan. The Horchata iced coffee was satisfying & I loved it. It was the right amount of bittersweet. The Pistachio iced coffee was way too sweet & had only a touch of pistachio. The Abuelita iced coffee was on the bitter side since it tasted like straight cocoa. Americano was a simple brew.Pastor Omelette was delicious and super filling. It was packed with meat & had the right red salsa to compliment it. Chilaquiles Verdes were also delicious but not spicy. You definitely need to order more salsa on the side if you want them on the wet side however the chicken was a perfect addition. Nutella French Toast was top tier!! It was the star of the show although it was sweet.. the fried plantains took it to another level. The slices were huge and easily shareable amongst 2 people.Overall listen to your servers, Thank you Cari for the amazing suggestions & letting us know that this establishment is known for appealing to the sweet tooth. Next time I will ask for an Americano or espresso since I enjoy my heavy coffee flavored drinks. I will definitely be returning to this location or another as they are so welcoming & keep you updated with their wait time. You could wait 45 mins to be seated so join the waitlist in advanced through the Yelp app. Also once seated they will bring your food as quickly as possible.“

“A Carnivore’s Vegan Experience Yesterday, my husband and I drove my mother in law home to L.A. from visiting with us for the past couple months. Sad to see her go because she is such a big help. Surprisingly, we had no kids in tow which is a rare occasion. We decided to drive around to explore a bit of James’ old stomping grounds. We explored his old neighborhood in La Puente, where he would skateboard, wound through the canyon switchbacks on the way to Whittier, looking at his friends’ houses and commenting how much the area has changed. Whenever we are traveling anywhere, we try to find a non-chain, local place to eat to support the local community but also, who wants to go somewhere new and walk into a chain and be transported to someplace you can go to within a few minutes from home. It defeats the whole purpose of exploring someplace new, at least new to me. We walked down Greenleaf Street in Downtown Whittier looking for a place to eat. We could not get past that it looked like a deserted city street with a few faces of restaurant workers visible from the windows looking out to either see if the crowds would ever come or wondering who in their right mind would be walking the streets mid-day in the 100+ degree heat. I personally think it was the latter, but we were just happy to be out of the 115+ humidity of home, only being 100 was quite nice! In our thirty minute, indecisive wandering, there were many places that peaked our interest for a nice dinner, but not quite for a late lunch before the two hour drive home. As we were standing in the middle of the street (closed to traffics for outdoor dining) we saw a few people go in and out of a place called the Modern Shaman, at least that’s the door that I saw open. (James will tell you it was the Steakhouse next door.) growing weary of my indecisiveness and looking up menus online to see what the food was like, said that we could try “that one” since it must be good because though the streets are empty, people are coming in and out. Now, I knew it was a vegan restaurant and was surprised that My carnivore husband would be willing to try the “fake food”. I jumped at the opportunity and to his surprise, I headed into the vegan restaurant, and he followed. As we were seated, James confessed that he thought we were going into the steakhouse because that was the door that he noticed someone enter. I am not a vegan, nor am I a vegetarian. I am just a person who does not prefer to eat much meat. I am just as happy eating a black bean burger as I am a beef burger and have been known to make dinner sans meat on several occasions so a vegan restaurant is right up my alley. However, looking at my husband from across the table, I could see the distress in his eyes…”no meat?!? How could there be Italian sausage on the menu if there is no meat? It just does not make sense! Do Italians know that they have fake Italian sausage on their menu?” To which I could only respond “thank you, my dear, for entertaining me on this one.” We looked over the menu for at least ten minutes trying to decide what to order. I could not make up my mind because everything looked so good and intriguing. On the other hand, James was still trying to figure out why there was Italian sausage on the menu of there was no meat, and of course, to determine what would be the least horrible thing to order and determined if he didn’t like it, he could just give it to me to eat and we could pick him up a burger someplace else. I finally settled on the oyster mushroom po’boy sandwich with a little help from the server. And when I say “a little help”, it was just that, not too helpful because of the three items I could not decide between she said “oh, that one is good. Oh that one is too, and that one.” We settled on the one she said was the most filling. James settled on the chimichurri ravioli with oyster mushrooms added on, or rather I had them add the mushrooms added on because I knew there was a very likely chance that I would be eating his plate too and I love mushrooms. As we waited for our f“

“Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful folks working there. Great food and drinks.“
“This place is small and looks vacant, you won't see a lot of cars. I almost missed it but noticed an open sign. There's a decent amount of arrangements to choose from. Flowers are nice and fresh. The employees are very nice and will make any arrangements you ask for and price is very reasonable.“

“Fantastic spot. Went on Friday night and was lucky enough to get a table. From the time we approached the store the staff was friendly and helpful. Our party of 8 was quickly sat down. The waiter was great going on the menu since we were all first-timers. From the appetizers to the main dishes everything that was ordered to the table was great. The portion sizes were very big. The also have a full bar. Most try spot if looking for good BBQ in the area.“
“Love love love this place.....such cute gifts, plants, and planters. I love that as you look through the entire store there is something hidden for you to find that is cute unique and fun. Loved that plants were strewn all over the store and the pot selection was amazing. Unique planters in various sizes paired with beautifully kept plants. Lissette is doing an amazing job with purchasing what's fresh new and cute. Love the vibe here and I didn't even try the coffee! Next time I'm in town this is definently a place I'm hitting up and coffee is for sure gonna be a part of my visit!!!“

“We stumbled across Phlight during a softball tournament, and we are so happy we did. My boyfriend and I were talking about returning because this place exceeded our expectations. We walked in around 5 pm on a Saturday and we were seated right away. I ordered a red sangria, which I loved. Started with the pork Belly and lengua tacos. The tacos were amazing, and full of flavor. I love mushrooms, so I had to order the sautéed mushrooms and they were excellent. I also ordered the grilled octopus which was okay, but I can pass on this. My son had the French toast, which I got a bite and it was really good. Service was great, our waiter checked on us frequently. Parking was a breeze, there's a garage right across the street.“

“My favorite place in Uptown Whittier! Great for a quick bite or cup of coffee, and unique gifts in the shop. If you're lucky, you can get a parking spot right out in front, but usually won't need to park more than a block away on the busiest days. The staff are all super nice, too.“

“All the tacos here are very decent, in spite of not having torillas a la mano. The Suadero tacos are straight FIRE!! They have three different sauces to choose from and offer grilled onions, which is a plus. The service is good, and the cooks are on their game, serving those orders out fast.“

“Really good acai bowls, lots of bases and toppings to choose from. The mango base is my personal favorite and with half acai. Good for being a place with pre made bases as usually i like to go to places where they freshly blend the bases. Very tasty and load up the toppings.“
