“As far as I'm concerned, this is (with due respect to Summit) the O.G. of the neo-craft brewing scene in this city. Gorgeous room, with a second bar on the other side of the building. Nice selection of snacks. Most important, consistently delicious beer. Very highly recommended.“

La Doña Cervecería Brewery Brewery • $$
241 Fremont Ave N, Minneapolis

“We enjoyed beer from La Doña at the Winter Beer Dabbler and, looking to try even more of their brews, started visiting the Minneapolis brewery. Since then, It’s become a new favorite hangout spot! The drinks (beer and beer cocktails) are delicious, and there’s plenty of fresh, flavorful food pretty much always available. The nachos and mole beer are not to be missed! We especially enjoy sitting on the patio, and we’re excited to check out the new soccer field when it’s finished. We’re happy to have found this fun and friendly brewery!“

“I’ve been to dozens of local breweries, and this is my new favorite. What I tried was so true-to-form, yet so perfectly made. Amazing examples of each style. Try the Pils! Has to be among the best the industry has to offer. Definitely my number one!Edit: After trying many local Pilsners, their Pils truly is the best in the state of Minnesota. Third time in, and they continue to roll out the red carpet every time for me. If the quality of the beer doesn’t blow you away, their customer service sure will!“

HeadFlyer Brewing Brewery • $
861 E Hennepin Ave #100, Minneapolis

“First off, I really appreciate a parking lot, even if it's one shared between 4 businesses. Up next, 80s music is playing in the background right now, which means I'm also in the middle of improv karaoke- very unfortunate for the 4 other patrons, as I can't carry a tune, despite knowing all the words. Meh, with a few more drinks, I'm bound to start sounding better. It has the industrial decor theme going & a well spread out space with an assortment of seating options, games and plenty of space for large groups. Most patrons have their eyes glued to their phones (same as me, currently)... lots of black puffer jackets & 1 baby. Kind of quiet but it's Monday at 2pm... so, probably not rush hour.I went with a coffee cream ale - It's a decent beer, tho I'm not sure I'm picking up much coffee on the tastebuds and I know I'm not getting any on the nose. It's refreshing tho.I may hafta go with the coffee porter next to bump it up a notch. Bonus for using 5 Watt Coffee, which alo happens to be right next door - yum... the coffee Porter is delish!Bonus #2 for up to date tap list on their website.“

Good, but nothing out of the ordinary.Food is solid, mostly standard bar food, but it's well done with the cheese curds being noteworthy. The beer is definitely the highlight, there is a wide variety of well executed styles with the big barrel aged beers being some of the best in the state.I've been several times, and I'm sure I will be back next time I'm in Minneapolis.“

Insight Brewing & Taproom Brewery • $
2821 E Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis

“Insight Brewing and Taproom is a large, expansive, local taproom, with polite and friendly staff behind the bar. There are lots and lots of seating options, including a suedo "living room" showing movies, long "Munich Oktoberfest" style high-top tables, bar stools at the long and curving bar, and a number of intimate booths and cubbie areas to snuggle up with your "significant other".Insight has a large parking lot located on the West side of the facility, and is convenient in location being just a couple of blocks west of 280.Atmosphere is down-home comfortable, with a good mix of ages throughout the taproom. Great vibe! Dogs are certainly allowed, and there were many of them present last night. The taproom offers a wide variety of beers on tap, including 6 - 7 THC seltzers and limited release collab beers. There are also a couple of kombucha and soda NA options.Only downside for me last night was the strong smell of cleaning fluids wafting throughout the brewery. Granted, I showed up approximately 1.5 hours prior to closing, so the staff was cleaning up prior to close. But it was a strong smell just the same, and messed up my taste of the otherwise delicious beers I had there last night (I tried the Level Up, a classic American Pale Ale and their Night Shift - a delicious, heavy, dark and semi-sweet porter). In terms of the cleaning smell, I am thankful that they ARE cleaning the taproom with the strong chemicals! Good health for all!Overall, great experience at Insight!“

Torg Brewery Brewery • $
8421 University Ave NE, Spring Lake Park

“Have been to many microbreweries over the years and have never seen one as unique as this one. Being a sci-fi fantasy fan myself, I really appreciated the decor with nods to Tolkien and Monty Python's Holy Grail. Custom artwork on t-shirts and wall hangings is very well done! There's darts, frisbee, painting groups, live music, and many other interesting things to see and do here. Really like all the little cubbyholes too. Sampled a flight and enjoyed the full flavor and creaminess of the Baltic Orc Porter so much, I HAD to pickup some for home! Excellent, knowledgeable staff and the owner walking around chatting with customers was nice. Three dollar discounts for growlers on Wednesdays too. Loved the original names given to the brews as well. Most likely will become regulars and will definitely be back.“

56 Brewing Brewery • $
3055 NE Columbia Ave Suite 102, Minneapolis

“I discovered 56 Brewing and found a new spot to love.Parking in the lot is limited, but the street parking is plentiful. We entered and were greeted immediately with the bar, full menu, and one of the most friendly and engaging bartenders I've come across in a brewery in a long time. Maybe ever.In fact, it's worth explaining: so... one of the things I love about local craft breweries, is the unique flavors and styles of the brewmasters. I'm usually presented with a wide menu, often highlighting interesting beer names. But seriously, where do I begin? What's the specialty? What's the brewmaster's signature? Hoppy? Bitter? Smooth? Do they have my typical go-to, a nut brown ale? Anything resembling a Guinness? With all these questions hitting me almost every time I visit a brewery for the very first time, I need a minute, I'd like some tips, I appreciate some sample sips. Rarely are all of these offered graciously. Asking for a taste is often met with that look that I've already overstayed my welcome and I've only been here 2 minutes.ANYWAY... my first experience at 56 Brewing was awesome. The bartender greeted us with a genuinely cheerful hello, asked if we've ever been here before; immediately started helping with the menu. He asked about our pallets and what we typically like in a beer. He pointed out their beers that closely resembled our likes and offered samples -- before we even asked. He poured us three samples. Wait... there's only two of us... the bartender sampled along with us as we all analyzed the flavors together. I've never had this happen before and I must say, was pretty cool.Sample #1 and I knew my beer of choice. It took two more samples to finalize our order and start the tab.We found a table in the back of the larger room, near a stage that had 'live music' and 'fun events' written all over it. On this particular early Saturday afternoon it was quiet, which was perfect for us.A couple beers later, the place had really picked up and was pretty hoppin. I understand why!I can't wait to come back!I love 56 Brewing and think you will too.Until next time...“

Surly Brewing Co. Brewery • $$

“We heard great reviews about Surly while up in the TC's from SC. We're old and not used to using QR codes for ordering and quickly got stressed trying to figure out our way around it. Thankfully, a very helpful and easy going Mgr. named Lucas came by and went out of his way to make our trip such a wonderful experience! He went above and beyond any restaurant Mgr. ever in the kindest way! The food by the way that he suggested to us was really exceptional. We had the perogies, the pork frittes., and 3 pizzas and we were WOWed by each as there's something added to everything! But, I cannot overstate how kind Lucas made us old Geezers feel welcome to Surly Brewing and this new way of things!“
