We were greeted promptly upon walking in and the scooper was friendly. The location was small but nearly organized. The ice cream case wasn't full, which was kind of disappointing; but, it's not tourist season, so it's understandable. They had about 10 or so dairy ice cream options and about 8 non-dairy options... Including one made from pepita milk, which is something I've never seen before. I opted for the blueberry ice cream and a cinnamon non-dairy ice cream. One can get a sugar cone or cake cone at no extra charge. They also offer a gf sugar cone or a waffle cone at an extra charge. Both of the ice cream flavors were good. The blueberry had real blueberries in it, a+ there! The cinnamon was actual cinnamon spice, not hot cinnamon, but not super creamy since it was no -dairy... If I'm remembering correctly, the base was oatmilk. I would like to visit again during tourist season so the case is full of flavors. My friend said she had a cardamom ice cream here before that was delicious!

I loved the icecream! Very rich and delicious. There were classic but also unique flavors. I went there with my grandma for her birthday celebration and the worker Joshua was very friendly. I definitely recommend.

We were in Black Mountain on a quick getaway! We took in a Basketball Game at Montreat College and wanted something sweet after. We headed just a short drive to get milk shakes from Hop! Absolutely amazing! The young man that was helping us was attentive to our needs, and prepared the most delicious milk shakes. Prices were reasonable and product was great. We loved the set up of the shop. We will definitely return!

Cute little ice cream shop with a few tables inside and outside. You can get scoops, cones, shakes, sundaes, all the usual. Plus they always have vegan/dairy-free ice creams available. The staff all do a great job and the shop is clean and bright.Vegetarian options: If you’re ok to eat dairy you won’t have trouble here. They might have special seasonal flavors with bacon or something unusual once in a while but most of their ice creams will be acceptable to vegetarians.Dietary restrictions: Dairy free options always availableParking: Street parking is usually easy to come buy unless it’s a busy time. Even then there is plenty on side roads throughout town and not too far to walk to The Hop.Kid-friendliness: Small portions available and most kids will find something they like.

Five of us walked into tThe Hop at 8:45 pm tonight Friday November 14th and the young man that was working behind the counter looked up at us and said "We are closed". The sign on the door and the time on Google maps listed a 9 pm close time. I asked if he would see iv the five of us and he said "NO, we close at 8:45 pm ". Seeing this is the beginning of the off season in this area I feel this young man is doing a disservice to the owner of this business by turning away cash paying customers.

Delicious ice cream flavors and THEY HAVE GLUTEN-FREE ICE CREAM CONES! A GF ice cream cone is such a treat and welcome break from having to order cups/dishes of ice cream at most other places. I thoroughly enjoyed my two scoops of Shattered Glass ice cream (next time I will order one scoop because they are GENEROUS with their scoops).Dietary restrictions: they have gluten-free ice cream cones!!!

Chocolate milkshake was more like chocolate milk. Way too much liquid. Consistency is completely wrong. Server was really nice but she was the only one there and there was a large line so did not want to ask her to make it again. Expensive. Don't recommend the shakes.

Only got to order the Vanilla but it was amazing ? hoping to get back to try the Pumpkin! The vegan flavors also looked amazing. So happy we stopped!
Had the strawberry cheesecake ice cream and a pear ice cream! So good! We went to this place after trying kilwins and throwing something away because we didn't like the flavor but this place didn't disappoint!

The Hop has the very best ice cream I have ever had. The only thing wrong with it is that there are no shops outside of Black Mountain/Asheville. Great selection of flavors, super nice staff, can’t say enough about this ice cream -definitely next level in terms of quality. We will definitely stop in every time we are in the area. Make sure to try the Aztec Chocolate, Local Strawberry and Unicorn Poop - trust me, it isn’t just for kids!

What a cute shop! They have a nice variety of flavors, many using local ingredients. You can't beat small batch, local I've cream! The staff is excellent. Even the music is fantastic.? The Hop is an Asheville area icon.

It's okay! They have several vegan flavors that rotate which is nice. They need to get some tunes going inside because it's dead quiet when they're scooping your ice cream - it's awkward! ✌️
