The Railyard went beyond our expectations hosting our 2-day family reunion. The venue easily accommodated our clan of 38 adults and 25 children. The sweet-spirited staff and servers were attentive to our every need and request. The food was delicious and s plentiful. The venue was thoughtfully appointed with elegant and comfortable chairs, white table clothes, and fresh flowers and potted plants. The room is almost sound-proof from outdoor music, which was important since we had our own talent show. We also used the outdoor area for extended dining space and a place for the children to play. Salina will help plan your perfect party!

Actually ended up going twice this visit. One evening was just for the live music and happy hour. Great happy hour pricing! It was chilly out, so they had moved everything inside.Returned over the weekend to check out the food menu and daytime atmosphere. It did not disappoint. Love how family-friendly and pet-friendly this place is.Will definitely be back!

Deeply unimpressed. We went in about an hour before closing. The staff seemed irritated and were in a hurry to clean up and shut down. They cut the music off a good 30 minutes before closing time. Really disappointing for parents who rarely get time off to be in such an unwelcoming atmosphere. We will not be returning.

Very cool place. Nice open atmosphere. Can sit around fire or play games while listening to live music. Perfection in my eyes. Lots of seating options. Did not eat while there but beer selection was good.

This review is specific to lunch, I can't speak for their entertainment aspect.I REALLY wanted to love this place, and I am willing to give them a second chance if I am there during a peak time. Railyard has been on my radar since before they opened. As a frequent Asheville area traveler, I always make it a plan to stop in Black Mountain, usually on the way in and out of town. I was craving bbq and a beer for a Friday lunch, so this seemed like a match made in heaven. Unfortunately it was all humdrum. The beer draft list was underwhelming and nothing on the list really grabbed my attention. Craving the hops, I opted for a can that I later realized was 9 months old. It's OK, because once that bbq hits the table I'll forget all about it. Except the bbq also tasted 9 months old. It was mostly flavorless and almost stale. I doused it in the vinegar sauce which really didn't help much at all. I grabbed my tablemates leftover sweet sauce to try and resuscitate it again, but there it lay dying in front of me, uneaten, not even worth taking home to reheat (again). We even commented on the poor pig that lost his life twice. I moved on to the collards, which were equally bland. I rarely need to salt things, but I was desperately seeking those needed white crystals. Maybe the potato salad will save the day. TA DA! It actually tasted like...potato salad, albeit dull. Luckily I had 3 tasty hushpuppies to push it all down. Seeing me starving, my friend shared his ribs with me so I didn't also die at the table. They were definitely fall-off-the-bone, but just really not special at all. Glad I still had that last swig of old hops.Maybe a crowd and some music will move some of that old que along and I'll get the fresh stuff next time. And perhaps I'll switch to cocktails.

Got there early, before the kitchen was open, but they welcomed us in and sold us a beer. Cool place. Lots of room inside and twice as much room outside for when it's warm. Great people, Can't wait to get back out there and hear some music and enjoy the outside areas,

The RailYard is a wonderful addition to the Black Mountain community. A beautifully refurbished space inside with a full bar and several local taps to enjoy a beverage inside or a large open space complete with picnic tables and a cozy fire pit outside. Super friendly staff that are definitely knowledgeable about all the tasty beverages! My only downside, and it's a doozy, is the food. They've recently switched from burgers to BBQ, and having grown up with KC BBQ, and lived in other BBQ hot spots, I feel like I've got a pretty good palate for the Q, and unfortunately this is where they miss the mark. The pulled pork tasted like it had been boiled, the sides were lackluster and were not enjoyable for our entire party. I do think there's room for improvement, especially given all the other spectacular positives this location and business offers. We'll still be there to enjoy the beverages and highly recommend it for just that!

Loved everything about it! The staff was awesome, great team, new how to treat a customer like gold. The food was delicious, paid double the price for bbq that wasn't near as good. The side dishes were equally as amazing. We also got to see a true gem of a musician Ashley Heath, who I highly recommend going to see!

I had such high hopes. To start the bartender didn't know how to pronounce a German beer and laughed at me like I was mispronouncing it. When you're eating at a BBQ place you assume you'll get quick service because all the food is already made. The place was not busy (which should have been our first hint since it was right after the Christmas parade) and it took over twenty minutes for us to get two pulled pork plates. The food tasted good but was a very small portion of meat. I would return but only to drink beer, from a different bartender.Kid-friendliness: Great outdoor space for kids to run around.
