“The Davis Country Store & Cafe is an amazing place with a great atmosphere and lovely goodies for eating while walking the trails of Old Fort! Their merchandise is very unique and vibrant, and all items are fairly priced so you're not breaking the bank. The staff is also super friendly, which was a breath of fresh air. I would definitely recommend visiting this place, especially for the coffee and pound cake!“

“Love their ice cream!, my hot fudge wasn't hot. A little sad about it but ate it anyway. They need more help there. One person making food orders and waiting on customers and making all kinds of things, is Alot on one person. Store needs updating. But still a good place to stop.“

Pelican's SnoBalls of Black Mountain, NC. Ice Cream Shop • $
304 W State St, Black Mountain - 8.04 miles

“My kids and I drove more than 30 minutes to go to Pelican as a special treat for my daughter who did something really difficult earlier in the day. Google said it was open but when we got there the owner said it was a mistake and they were doing training. It had been a very long and stressful day and contemplating the hour of driving for nothing made me pretty upset. The owner could have totally ignored me but instead he got the trainee to make my kids two snocones and gave them for free. Thank you so much for this act of kindness. It meant a lot to me and my kids. Highly recommend and the snow cones were absolutely delicious!“

Dot's Dairio Ice Cream Shop • $$
30 Lake Tahoma Rd, Marion - 7.97 miles

“We just passed this little place on the way back from a day spent on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We pulled in and saw it was cash only, so we went down the road a little to get cash at the Dollar General. We both got milkshakes, I was very impressed to see all the no sugar added options. Being a diabetic, I normally don’t have a lot of choices at places. The milkshakes were pretty good and the prices were reasonable. Definitely would stop here again when I’m in the area!“

“We were in Black Mountain on a quick getaway! We took in a Basketball Game at Montreat College and wanted something sweet after. We headed just a short drive to get milk shakes from Hop! Absolutely amazing! The young man that was helping us was attentive to our needs, and prepared the most delicious milk shakes. Prices were reasonable and product was great. We loved the set up of the shop. We will definitely return!“

“This legendary local dessert shop is actually named for the 11th century Icelandic monarch Ragnald Bluecone, the so called "Dairy King", who is credited in the old Icelandic sagas with combining sheep's milk and honey and then freezing it in the famous glacier Eyjafjallajokull, thus inventing ice cream. Go. Get a dipped soft serve and pay your respects to Ragnald Bluecone, Dairy King. Cash only.“
