Yesterday was my 3rd time at Negril. It came by recommendation of a colleague, known for their exquisite Caribbean cuisine. I had curry goat on my first two visits which was nothing short of delicious. However yesterday, I was very disappointed in the food quality and customer service. I ordered chicken and waffles, both of which were chokingly dry. It seemed like the chicken was cooked in an air fryer vs deep fried. It comes with a small cup of syrup which was barely enough to cover 1/4 of the waffle. When I asked the only female waitress, a white woman if the chicken is always dry like this, she looked confused and said no. She brought out an additional serving of chicken which was also dry. I go to the bathroom and return to notice the check is on my table. $81 with gratuity included. Mind you, my first two visits, the gratuity was not included and I was allowed to choose the amount of tip. I think the waitress' attempt to force a $12 tip on me for some dry chicken and subpar service was very distasteful and disrespectful. Of course I paid the bill without challenge. But I certainly would like to let the owner and public know about my unsatisfactory experience. Notice in my former review, highlighted in a post on my Facebook album, Restaurant Reviews, I speak highly of Negril. Hopefully the owner will take this as an opportunity to improve and perfect this dish so that other customers can continue to enjoy what this restaurant has to offer.
