Not sure if this is the same people that had Casa Moreno, but I assume not as they scrapped the entire interior. I only ate at Casa M once and the food was good, but the service was terrible. They got my order wrong, overcharged me and then had an attitude when I called it out. I decided to try these guys and was not disappointed. The menu was simple, but there was plenty to choose from. Service was fast, but the place was dead, we questioned if they were even open as no one was inside on a Friday night. The food was served warm, not hot. I like my plate unbearably hot; it tastes better and stays hot longer. If you can serve my plate without mitts, it's not hot enough and that was evident by the cheese not melting on the beans. Listen the food was tasty and this is far better than Azteca, Tonala or Moctezuma. It's seriously far better than expected. I got two knocks for this place. 1), the temperature of my meal. 2) the fact that everything needed salt. That said, salt did wake up the plate and made a mediocre meal magical. I think if this place leans into their roots and serves well serviced plated served hot, word of mouth will generate a lot of business. These are hard working honest people, they just need to realize they don't have to compete. When you serve amazing food, people will come.

We went here for lunch before heading to the Tacoma Mall. It was empty one other group at a table so we were seated right away. The staff were very friendly and attentive, we had waters and chips and salsa delivered shortly after we were seated. The food was alright, the birria was very tender, it did same it came with consume but there want a cup or bowl of it brought out so that was a little sad. The fries that came with the carne asada fries were a little soft, it was well dressed but underwhelming. The cheese quesadilla was pretty standard as were the rice and beans.

The food was amazing and very fast but still fresh. We got their queso and chicken taquitos, and margaritas. The salsa bar is amazing and the service was extremely friendly, like the kind that makes you really enjoy a restaurant.

Came here tonight for an event. I want to start by saying Hugo is amazing, great bartender and impeccable customer service. The 2 stars is for the other problems with pricing. I got 2 drinks when I came in, the first time I was charged $49, when I looked at my aunt's receipt for the same drink it was &15 so what drink cost $30. The woman ringing me up said she would fix it and then charged me $69 smh. So, she then fixed it again and charged $15 all of these charges will take 5-10 business days to return to my mother's account. I was willing to let this go but then I bought a beer, I was told $7 and then charged $7.50 at that point I was done. They could have had tons of business for private parties but multiple people had the same issue with fluctuating pricing. Hugo was very cool and not my bartender for these two problem purchases.

Receipt says “ Cocina Mexicana”. This place looks to have change Mgmt/owners again?? Redecorated but m not sure what they are going for? When it was Casa Moreno it’s looked much better with a truly separate bar area. Now it’s wide open again. Came for lunch, we were the only two in the entire place. Atmosphere is off-putting, just so large, wide open, high ceiling, modest/little decor.Large menu. Many more unique menu dishes seemed pricey, but more traditional Combination meals were average price. Food is more traditional Mexican, a little spicier than what I like. Small enchiladas. Nachos too full of jallepenos. Salsa was runny and too spicy.I will not return here, way many better Mexican restaurant options around.
service here is phenomenal and the waitress was Maria and she is awesome. Food is great. They make it to order and the food is phenomenal and the drinks are made to order and they are great too

My boyfriend and I went here last night and unfortunately..everything we had was just not good. The enchiladas I got were super small and tasted weird. The beans definitely came out of a can and even the rice was off. My boyfriend got the chile colorado and there was no flavor and the meat was 90% fat. When we asked for another margarita..the waitress said she would have to reuse our original glasses because "they were out". The whole experience was weird and we will definitely not be back...especially not for $111 before tip.

This place was a not good at all. I’m assuming their focus is the after hours activity because the food quality was for sure a 1 out of 10. The beans taste like they came from a can and possibly an old one, and I had bubble guts before I could even finish paying. The best thing I had here was my can of sprite and our waitress she was very nice. The food was just so so bad.

Came here cause we liked the margaritas and house salsa a hand full of times. But this time they decided to rob us, by charging us almost double the normal prices. Must be the “epic” remodel that isn’t so epic. 2 margaritas, 2 shots, and a beer- $78… no thanks. Won’t be back here again
