My wife and I were there for dinner celebrating our 15th anniversary! The reservation process was easy and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Our server, Sarah, was wonderful. Attentive and talkative and yet still allowed us to enjoy the evening. While they are renovated the main dining room, the restaurant has moved to the “convention” side. That changed nothing for us. The food and drinks were amazing. We drank Park Caesars and Wildlife Mules. Delicious and made with local craft liquor. We started with the charcuterie board. It was so good. Then our entrees arrived. My wife had the bison burger with homemade tomato soup. I had the chicken flatbread sandwich. All were delicious. And to top it off, when the staff realized it was our anniversary, the chef offered us dessert on the house. So we enjoyed apple pie a la mode. Our experience overall was superb. If you’re looking for a special place to spend hard earned money, you will not be disappointed or dissatisfied with Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Thank you to all who served us.

I've been staying at the hotel for two weeks now and tried almost everything on the menu. I could go into town many nights, but most I opted for the room service. Here's the highlights: (the first few nights my husband joined me in their lovely lounge, but I preferred room service the other times as I was on a working get-a-way solo) - First, Evan at the bar is amazing! All the staff are. If you're lucky, you can play with his amazing puppy Ralph! - Their soup is AMAZING! Never the same one in two weeks. The portions are made for a lumber jack. Beyond yummy! - I like a bear only once a day and I can honestly say that I could never finish my meals here. - Caesar salad beyond delicious. So fresh, perfectly dressed. Ask for avocado. - The bison burger is out of bounds. Comes medium well which I like but might be a little under done for some (really the way a good burger should be). Ask for extra caramelized onions because they're to die for. - Ordered the beef tenderloin one night - perfectly cooked but not as soft as I'm used to (I eat a lot of BT), perhaps a bad cut but the dish was lovely. - Tonight my last night, they informed me they had beef short ribs on special - what a treat! Amazing! My only regret is that I never tried brunch here. But I've already booked a trip for the new year and will looking forward to more fabulous food and service from the Sleeping Buffalo!

First time eating at the Sleeping Buffalo and we were more than satisfied with our dinner and breakfast. The tenderloin was cooked to perfection with appropriate portion sizes and prices that we considered reasonable for food quality and experience. The staff were friendly and efficient.

My husband and I have eaten at the Sleeping Buffalo many times since 2012 (we had our rehearsal dinner and wedding reception in this restaurant). The food is excellent, the service is wonderful and the experience is always so enjoyable. Not to mention the wonderful atmosphere in the Sleeping Buffalo. When you go to Banff there are a lot of restaurants to choose from, but please don't miss out on the Sleeping Buffalo. It is worth the trip. I've shared the Bison rib steak, had the squash ravioli and other several other meals - none of them have disappointed. Their breakfasts are delicious - they served me perfect medium poached eggs and I would highly recommend the blueberry bison sausage. The sangria is easily the best I've ever had and I've tried a lot of different sangrias - their happy hour special is wonderful (flatbread pizza and sangria!! Great after a morning of hiking!!) The Sleeping Buffalo is a must try in Banff - worth the trip up Tunnel Mountain!

Went out for an anniversary dinner today. We both ordered soup and a main. It was cream of mushroom and chicken with wild rice and veggies. When the soup came, IT WAS HUGE!We had to get them to box the entrees because we were both full!If your ever in Banff for supper go to the Sleeping Buffalo in the Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Best soup I’ve ever had!!!

Overpriced food for very average meals. This was the first time experiencing very BLATANT RACISM by the waiter. The restaurant was quite empty when my dad and I dined there for dinner. There were only 4 other tables with people and 2 waiters. The waiter took our order and seemed annoyed we didn't want to order alcohol. He didn't bother to check up on our food to see how it was until we finished eating. It didn't bother me that much until I saw him serve dessert to the couple across from us and then come by 5 minutes later to check up on them. Their table was 6ft beside ours and he didn't bother turning around and checking up on us. He never even came by to fill our water. I would usually just say the service is bad overall but I watched him check up on all the other tables except for ours. This was RACISM and DISCRIMINATION. We were the only visible minorities in the restaurant (even though I am Canadian). Very disgusted by this treatment.

I made a reservation in November 2019 for July 5, 2020. Then COVID hit and I had to cancel trip. All the other hotels gave deposit refunds immediately except for Buffalo Mountain Lodge who refused to do anything. Unbelievable.

Such a nice place... However, the burger was just ok... I mean, you have this beautiful place but it was just plain.

The charcuterie board was fantastic. Lots of lean meats, fresh bread, cheese and olives. Plenty for two people. Great service and good house wines. We'll go back next time we're in Banff.

Such a beautiful place! Friendly staff, good menu! Good buffet considering the size of the place, unfortunately for me the reason for 4 stars is that I got the Game Hash, a hash with wild meat, poached eggs and some corn/tomato mix which went together all well but it was like a soup, the potatoes were soaked and the meat couldve had some spice on it

We stayed for a week at the lodge over New Year. We ate in the Lounge on the first night. It was OK but terribly overpriced. The ambiance compensated and the staff were attentive. The next evening New Years Eve we ate in the restaurant as part of the New Year Gala package. When we sat down they had already 'sold out' of one of the main course options (out of 3)....Again the food was Ok but if you are used to small fine dining portions you will be fine. But the food isn't fine dining - I think they think it is. About 1am the following morning my husband was very ill for the remainder of the 'night'. we sought medical advice and they confirmed that with 99% certainty it was food poisioning from the dinner. We both ate the same thing except he had the scallop/soup dish. We hadn't eaten anything since 11am that day so it was not anything else he consumed. We complained to reception the next morning who were frankly not interested. We then complained by email to hotel management (as there was nobody senior around the place for our entire visit who were visible). Management confirmed by email that they were of the view that as no one else reported being ill it cannot be their establishment. I will never ever in my life ever stay or eat at this establishment again. Banff itself is lovely with some very good places to eat who genuinely deserve our patronage but not this place. We did try breakfast one morning in the main restaurant but had coffee and went. The breakfast buffet had lots of meat and fish options but having gone near it it wasn't cold enough and I suspect in due course more 'unwell after eating here' reports will appear on trip advisor of a similar nature.

I stayed here for 4 nights with my boyfriend and it was the best experience. I looked at probably 20 different places to stay and we absolutely made the right choice. Beautiful rustic lodge with clean rooms and facilities. So romantic, too! Lovely wood burning fireplace. Amazingly helpful staff, great food, and a convenient shuttle. Our only problem was booking too short of a stay here! Can't wait to go back.
