Tried the yakitori here, and it's probably the closest you'll get to japan in Calgary. The chicken yakitori has a good charcoal flavor. Im giving this restaurant 3 stars as it is too bad they do not do chicken wing yakitori, so the selection is limited. They also need to change the atmosphere here. The restaurant feels very dull compared to others.Edit: Unfortunately changing my review now as they have removed a lot of yakitori items and only offer set menus. I would suggest they bring back some of the items and allow substitutions.

Really disappointed they removed a lot of the yakitori items and just only offer the sets now! The yakitori items was the ONLY reason we visited before and now we will have to find a new place! So sad, because the yakitori was different and had really good char flavor! They also removed the happy hour menu as well - Not sure why. Seems like the focus is more on sushi now, but with so many sushi options available in Calgary, we definitely will be coming here less. Please consider bringing back the yakitori!!!

Kushiyaki is GONE. You can only order the skewers as sets. 1 meat set. 1 fish set and 1 veggie.

I adore this place. The staff are so warm and welcoming and their sake collection is beautiful. They really know their stuff. They have a new menu and the food is impeccable. Most recent visit, we had the togarashi tofu, shrimp tempura, the sashimi and tuna tataki. Everything was perfect. The fish was uber fresh-one particular fish was fed on mandarins and you could actually taste the mandarins-amazing.

Highly recommended. Great food and service. Fresh fish flown in from Japan and they aren’t all pretentious about it.

We came in outside of rush hour so service may vary.Overall the food was pretty good, we all ordered a set menu and we're pretty happy with the amount of food we got. There were some small nitpicks hence the 4/5 but nothing too major.

We didnt like this place, all the food was overpriced. Portions were small. Yakitori was dry or cheap meat.Restaurant aesthetics were soso and seats by the windows were cold (winter time)Food came out extremely slow, wait times were long for empty restaurant. We wouldnt recommend it or go again.

Bincho Izakaya has delicious japanese food. We had several skewers, vegetables and meats, miso soup with prawn. Everything was served quickly and hot. Great service. The server helped us to select the best sushi and skewers according to our taste.

a okay izakaya in calgary with some fusion items. went for a late lunch and there was no other guests. Raw food are generally good but not super impressive, such as the oyster. The scallob sushi is good so I encored it. The best is the pasta surprisingly - not oily with just right flavor. I will go again and try out other dishes if I am very close to the place, it might not worth a long drive to visit but a good option as a neiborhood izakaya.

We are from Vancouver, and prior to visiting Bincho, we were definitely hesitant the quality of a Japanese Sushi and Izakaya in Calgary. To our utter surprise, the food was amazing. Their Fried Chicken Chips were so fun with Beer. The Shio Cabbage was a nice twist to a salad. Their Mentaiko Pasta was not too heavy.Everything was amazing, and definitely on par with some of the better Izakayas in Vancouver.A most go when in Calgary!

Food I can say it's not bad, but If I need pay the price, 100% sure not recommended, Salmon is not a real salmon, looks like a rainbow trout, theb $9 each fresh scallop sushi, it taste nothing, I would rather go to buy a frozen Hokkaido sashimi grade scallop instead, basically fish is not that bad, if it doesn't serve with the rich, the rich is totally ruined the sashimi.... Izakaya is good..the one I recommend is the spaghetti..it taste really ?...
