Decent food but kind of overrated. There are better Italian restaurants in the City. My food was very salty.

Best authentic Italian! What a marvelous experience. We went there for a birthday dinner celebration. The atmosphere was so inviting, perfect illumination and great music selection. The service was outstanding. Our waiter and waitress were super nice and attentive. They made us feel so welcome, and they made sure to make the night super special! They even sang Happy Birthday for me! Would recommend 100%.

Such a treat! Could just order a bunch of beef carpaccio and be done. Service was quite personal which could be a turn-off to some. Will be back

We went here for dinner tonight before a show at the Jubilee, and we had such a great experience. The service was excellent, the house wine was delicious, and the food was amazing. I found the entree portion sizes to be huge and ended up taking home literally half my meal, but I will not be sad to have those leftovers! If you're looking for a great authentic Italian restaurant, I highly recommend Il Chianti.

My family used to go here alot for business, but hadn't been for a while they suggested and I agreed. All I got to say is Great Food, the apps were grilled calamari in a simple tomato sauce perfectly cooked tender NO breading. Spicy sausage in again simple tomato sauce. Veal scallopini in white wine special with pasta perfectly cooked. This is a go too place, been around a long time and I have tasted Why. Oh and of course a good selection of wine as well.

Update, Oct 2023:There's been several new Italian restaurants that have opened in this town in the last few years - some of them "high end" or chic/trendy or "Italian with a modern twist"I have tried most and I can honestly say that IL Chianti is still the best Italian joint that Calgary has to offer! No wonder they have been here for 40 years! Good job and Centanni!Original review:Great Authentic Italian Restaurant. Family run since the early 80's. Never a disappointment.

Tried this place for the first time for our anniversary dinner. Waited 30 mins after being seated before even being asked for our drink order. We were about to get up and leave when they finally came over. No apology for the wait or anything. Then after giving our wine order we had to remind the server to actually bring it. It seemed extra insulting because people who appeared to be regulars were served instantly.I am still giving 3 stars because the food was fantastic. I won’t be going back though because on what should have been a special night, we were made to feel completely unimportant and overlooked.
Amazing. That’s all that needs to be said. I’ve driven by this restaurant hundreds of times and never given it much thought it’s just sitting there on a corner. From the outside it looks very nondescript but inside it’s cozy and welcoming.Gave it a try today as we have family members with Celiac and we saw they had lots of GF menu items. It’s true they do.More importantly the staff fully understand what real gluten free food means and take it seriously. All of the food was absolutely phenomenal. Both the regular pasta I had but the GF fettuccine Alfredo was by far the best GF pasta either one of has ever had.Very reasonable price point as well. Would give more stars if google would allow it.Dietary restrictions: Lots of fantastic Gluten Free dishes

Classic Italian cooking, family owned and operated from the cooks to the servers. Be ready for a slower meal if it's busy, but everything here is fantastic, tables nicely spaced, good wine list, happy people. My faves include the veal limone and tortellini alfredo and any of the apetizers. Everyone I know who has eaten here loves it!Vegetarian options: Not many, but if you eat seafood you have more options.Parking: A good number of spots and some street parking but on a busy night you might have to take a little time to find a spot.Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs, might be a little tight in parts of the restaurant, not 100% on bathroom accessibility.

I recently visited Il Chianti with a friend for lunch. We shared a delicious caesar salad, and enjoyed a spectacular homemade lasagna, elegantly plated. What a lovely mini-holiday in the middle of the work day!

My inlaws are in from Ontario and we took them to Il Chianti tonight for an early 50th wedding anniversary celebration. Our hostess/waitress was amazing, warm and took the time to reassure us that they were a nut free kitchen as my stepson has a nut allergy. The food was incredible, everyone was impressed with their meal. Lived the quiet calm homey atmosphere.
