Our favourite spot in the neighbourhood! Great value with the social hour and weekly specials menus, and definitely can't beat the Thursday pasta night (Short Rib Penne is my favourite)! My go-to items are the Carpaccio and Mussels, absolutely delicious. Extensive wine list and their cocktails are delicious.

I had the lunch special and it was delicious. Quality ingredients and perfectly executed in the kitchen. I joined the table about 15 minutes after the rest of my party but my lunch was less than 5 minutes delayed. Good job, great service. Very comfortable atmosphere, I will definitely be back.

The first time at this restaurant and probably my last. The man with a brace on his leg said it was full as soon as I arrived by myself and said I would have to wait and they might close because of an emergency problem. I said I was with a party and he told me to text them and they could come to door and say hello to me but I wasn’t allowed to enter.Then after I pointed out my table I was allowed in and my friends had a chair and a drink waiting for me. My server Tiguan was the best; professional, friendly, suggested wine and food of the menu excellent service. He gets a 5 but my overall experience was a 1.5.One of the servers a blonde lady about 5’11” was rude and when she went by would charge through like a linebacker holding her arm out and just shoving people instead of using her voice and saying excuse me. Instead she pushed and bumped and barked at people to sit down in their seats. I watched her on the other side of the room and more people were standing around and when I passed by no one was pushing or barking at people to sit down.The restaurant had water pouring down from the ceiling and emergency crew were outside trying to deal with it and the staff were not handling the situation very well especially the manager or owner. He lost his cool and yelled at people to sit down or get out. What he should have done is set tables and extra chairs to the one end of the restaurant and rope off the section or close the restaurant because it could become a more serious problem if the roof gives way.Profit was more important than safety. The drinks and food could have been discounted for the inconvenience. It was packed for week day, which is normal for wine Wednesday is what another patron told me.The bathroom was dirty and I wiped down the counters and taps for them.Overall it was not a warm and pleasant staff atmosphere, but the patrons were friendly and especially the people celebrating someone’s birthday. Mixed crowd of middle aged men and young women of all races but very loud. It was missing music.Oh and check your bill my friend was over charged.Parking: The parking sucks because of the construction, which has snow piles and mud piles along the front of the building.

Our group went to celebrate our friend's birthday and it was a night of calamity due to the recent snow/fast melt. The roof was leaking so part of the resto wasn't available making it crowded on Wine Wednesday. We had an issue so I fired off an email to the Management team. Blair called me and after a discussion I realized his point of view - he and his staff were really stressed and of course with the leak it was a difficult night. I always want to give a biz the benefit of the doubt and not slag them on Google. Blair and I talked and he turned around our experience. We are loyal Merchant goers, so I appreciated the phone call - normally we always have terrific wine, service and food. We will be back. Thanks Blair.

Merchants is a great restaurant but we were a little disappointed this time. Picked the seafood linguine as it was so good last week. But this time quantity of seafood much reduced. Eg 1 shrimp versus 4 last week. Need to check this if I order again
Got a steak and had a butter knife. Ordered rice and got potatoes. Ate a cold steak. This place used to be good.

First time and is was amazing!Food, ambiance, service exceeded our expectation. The menu is extensive and can’t wait to go back to taste is all. Very friendly staff, especially Bartender Art! Provided great food recommendations and amazing service.Only downfall, we live so far away, otherwise this would be our regular hangout. The hostess was very rude basically threw our menus at us and walked away without saying anything. The owner did introduce himself and was lovely. Food was ok nothing outstanding though.

The tasty, fresh food, greeting staff, chef and cooking staff, waitress, bar tender and ambience were perfect! We each ordered steak and salad, drink special and regular drink; lovely presentation and attention to detail. The Merchants Menu has many food choices with daily drink specials, caters to dietary preferences. Love the updated, modern, clean, spacious settings and decor. Nice location, just need more parking availability up close, however, one can park across the street in the 2 indoor parkades. Highly recommend if you want to get out of the house with a group of business associates, friends, one of your close friends, or treat your relatives from out of town. We'll be back.
