Lam Pham knows his flavours. This location and pure street food at the 1st street market are a true delight. So satisfying. Congratulations Lam on your recent propels choice award at great kitchen party!

Ordered a "bánh xèo tacos" here and as a Vietnamese, I'd say the chef did a great job reinventing this traditional dish into something very unique. The curry flavor and cripsy taco were transformational, and I love it.In terms of pricing, it is reasonable for a downtown location, but the portion is quite small.

Really good food & nice polite staff! Very loud hip hop music in the background. Very strange choice of music I must say!

Food is good but everything is heavily flavored and too salty. Was very thirsty when I got home.

Amazing take on Vietnamese and other Asian dishes using an inspired pallet of flavours and textures. I have loved everything I've tried here but if I had to choose one thing? Definitely the Vietnamese submarine style sandwich in a Chinese Sesame donut, pictured below, as the destination dish.

I have been to Pure Modern Asian Kitchen and Bar several times and always am keen to go back for more. If only I lived in Calgary. The food is excellent with creative combinations and complex flavours. Simple setting. Super clean.

We have tried this place in several occasions and were pleased by the quality and originality of the food. The classical Vietnamese dishes are well reinvented. It is also a nice spot for chicken wings. We reconnected with their cuisine at the Taste of Calgary Festival. The sesame donuts with spicy chicken or pork are the perfect examples to showcase their new take on a classic street food bite.

This is not your typical Vietnamese spot - it is definitely more upscale (which also means it’s a bit pricier) but you get what you pay for! Most of the food here is super delicious and there are a number of interesting fusion style dishes as well. The pho broth here is one of the best I’ve have in the city - super rich and flavourful and the large size is huge!! We also got the chili lime wings which were super tasty and fried to perfection. My husband ordered the Tom Yum Seafood linguine which I wasn’t super impressed by however the portion size was generous and the fried soft shell crab on top was a nice touch. The service was ok - not the friendliest or most attentive staff but they get the job done.Overall this is a great spot to check out if you’re looking for some creative Vietnamese inspired food!

Staying in Calgary on a business trip and did a search for Pho. Was not disappointed and went back a second time before leaving two days later. Will definitely go back on my next trip to Calgary.

Came on wing night. Although wing size has decreased while prices increased, I still felt the food was good value. One positive to the smaller wings is that it's easier to finish if you don't like the flavour. The 10 wings aren't too much food at all and basically make up 1 side (small app). All the wings were deep fried, assumable together since they had the same coating and came out at the same time. Some of them had parts of the meat that was hard to chew. For 2 people, we got 40 wings, 2 large drinks, and a sesame donut. It was the perfect amount of food. Really enjoyed the donut, although very saucy and small. 5 spice might have been our favourite wing flavour.

Was recommended by one of my Chefs, coming in with high expectations and wow, everything was spot on. My new favourite restaurant in Calgary…

My wife and I stopped at Pure Modern Kitchen last week and were blown away by both the food and service. The Fried Rice dishes were phenomenal, and the dessert was fantastic. Our server made us feel special as it was my wife's birthday. She went out of her way to make the dinner great. This restaurant is a MUST TRY.

Best Vietnamese restaurant in the city. The Pot O Pho and the seafood fried rice are both excellent. Great customer service. A little outside the main “downtown” core but well worth the walk.

Full disclosure, I've only been for the wings night and haven't had the pleasure yet to try the regular menu. That being said the couple of times we've come for their wing nights have been fantastic! By far the tastiest flavors for wings I've had in a while, though I am sad that there aren't more flavours to try. The best in my opinion are the Nuoc Cham, the 5 spice and the char sui.I am looking forward to trying the regular menu soon!

This restaurant is so freakishly good. I would go weekly and order the entire menu. I haven't had a single dish that is not amazingly delicious or lacks care or quality! Why isn't this restaurant busier?? I guess the location is a bit tough. Their wing nights are amazing and the appetizers are brilliant! I would eat the entire appetizer menu if you can find a couple of friends to go with! This is a terrific restaurant that for some reason has not got the kind of support it deserves. Go eat here....it's amazing!
