I really liked this sushi place, the vibe is on, upon walking in you immediately feel calm.The restaurant is cozy, there are many nice touches such as elegant plating, simple presentation and delicate service.I loved how when our server showed up they asked if we had been there before, and welcomed us warmly. More points for when we ordered and our waiter came by with the soy sauce and poured it into our dishes for us. (I’ve only had this at a few upscale places not in Calgary so I always notice it. It’s a nice touch)The only comment on the service that was negative was our server wasn’t super knowledgeable about when the fish comes in from Japan, or what hamachi is, they had to Google it infront of me to be sure. Which while I totally appreciate the effort, i just felt rubbed me the wrong way. That’s why I thought I’d put it here and let you decide if I was just being a grump.Aside from that barely noticeable service offence, everything was amazing.The fish was phenomenal, with generous portions. I personally don’t like sushi rolls covered in sauce that hide the elegance of flavour knitted through the layers of intricately paired sashimi, vegetables and rice.These are not those, these rolls are not buried in sauce and unnecessary toppings.So the rolls were perfect for me, I got to experience the food and flavour.I recommend the spicy salmon roll, and the Satsuki roll.I also highly recommend the OTORO it was quite possibly the best single piece of sashimi I’ve ever had.

Satsuki is an absolute gem in Kensington! We came in for sushi tonight. We wanted to try something unique and ordered the “mini-omakase set” and the “salmon ochazuke” from the features menu and had our expectations totally blown away. We loved the several creative and delicious mouthfuls of the omakase, rich and flavorful broth and salmon in the Okazaki, and the in-house made soy sauce, and pickled ginger. The “matcha experience” for dessert was the topping on the cake. Thank you May and Jacky for the memorable experience. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely amazing experience ! The ingredients are all of top quality and you feel so welcomed by the staff.The atmosphere is sophisticated and more intimate which allowed for a more personal feel. The food is delicious and I was impressed by the salmon roll, very tasty!The owner and her team are so sweet and made our experience extremely memorable!You have to try the matcha desert and gyoza!

My partner and I had a date night at Satsuki and we loved every second of it. The service was very nice and fast and the ambience was simple, yet sophisticated. We enjoyed the food as well! I highly recommend their sake miso risotto with sablefish, it's delicious.

High quality, fresh fish that is well-seasoned is hard to find in Calgary. The spicy salmon roll and negitoro rolls are my favorite - they melt in your mouth and the rice is also well-seasoned. The sushi is flavorful without being doused in sauce. The matcha cakes and iced matcha latte are also great.Coming to Satsuki is always a treat. Chef May, Jackie, and the staff at Satsuki are also very hospitable and friendly! Highly recommend Satsuki for an authentic sushi experience.

The worst Omakase I had. Sour ,sour, too sour. The food is average with overpriced. The store is too small, the table is too close to each other. So disappointed for the store review on Google for 4.7.Feel so bad for my family dinner.

We celebrated a birthday at Satsuki and were sure glad we did. The food was fantastic - the fish was all super fresh and the sushi rice and nori had excellent flavour but were not overwhelming. The standout was the wagyu futomaki and grilled hamachi. The dessert was also delicious. We had the black sesame tiramisu which had a nice combo of sweet and nutty(?) without overdoing it.The staff were all super friendly and were great at helping us choose menu items.Great date spot and they have a larger table for bigger gatherings.
