The food was really tasty but the sweet pork buns were a little stingy on the filling. I've had them much fuller but they were still good. Service was attentive enough and the ambiance is quite nice. They've got a nice selection and the food was very fresh and done well.

Silver Dragon, a long-standing fixture in Calgary's Chinatown, has historically been a beacon of the community. However, recent experiences suggest that the restaurant is not living up to the legacy of its past. Nestled in a prime location, Silver Dragon continues to attract attention, but it struggles to meet the modern diner's expectations for quality and service. The general attitude and approach of the current management do not reflect the passion and commitment traditionally associated with successful restaurant operations. There's a noticeable disconnect between the restaurant's prestigious past and its present execution. The food quality is notably poor, making it arguably one of the least favorable dining options in Calgary. The traditional stir-fries and other staples lack depth, flavor, and the finesse required to justify their price points. Moreover, the level of service mirrors this decline. Staff members often seem disinterested and disconnected, which not only impacts the dining experience but also suggests a broader issue with workplace morale and management style. This is particularly concerning as it indicates a lack of pride and responsibility among the staff, traits that are crucial for the success of any service-based business. The restaurant's inability to adapt to changing tastes and demographics is another significant flaw. With the older generation of loyal customers dwindling and younger patrons showing little interest in returning, Silver Dragon faces an uphill battle to retain relevance in Calgary’s competitive culinary scene. In conclusion, without a significant overhaul in both management approach and culinary quality, Silver Dragon is likely to continue its decline. The restaurant urgently needs to reevaluate its strategies and embrace both innovation and improvement to survive. Failure to do so may result in Silver Dragon becoming obsolete, overshadowed by more dynamic and responsive competitors.

One of the best dim sums in town. Grumpy servers ruin the experience. Or maybe that is the experience. I don't know. You should go.

Is it still the same family that has opened since the beginning, I think the tran family? I used to go here with my family all the time and one of my memories was them offering to pay our food bill if my uncle ate a large order....he succeeded, the Crickmore/O'Dell family will always think of this as the BEST Asian cuisine we've ever had

This has to be some of the worst Chinese food in town entirely. The chicken chow mein had zero flavour and was soupy. Sweet and sour chicken same thing, first bite couldn’t even swallow. Less soupy greasiness in these dishes. My lord just awful. I’m sorry to write such a bad review guys but you need new cooks or something. Just terrible.I have yet to taste a very good Chinese food place in Calgary. Absolute awful.

Rude staff and not worth the money. The portion sizes were small and overpriced, the half pecking duck definitely wasn’t half a duck. Every interaction before, during, and after the meal was awful and we weren’t offered chopsticks. We didn’t feel welcome and didn’t like the food. If you like Chinese food, don’t go here ☹️?

Usually our go-to place but last night the owner/manager was visibly sick and coughing everywhere, not covering his mouth, blowing his nose and not washing his hands. Doing this while walking around the restaurant. Was quite disgusting and very disappointing. We even told our server who told us it was just “allergies”, but even so, this person should not be working.

Very bad service, the guy answered phone at a rude manner, looks like driving the customers away than welcoming them inside. Not recommended.
The food is alright, had me satisfied in the end. The service was okay, beckon a waiter over if they're not already busy with 2 other tables. Guess it was a busy day. Definitely coming back for the Peking duck though.

Always a wonderful experience at Silver Dragon. Dedicated and hard working staff, high quality food, price is appropriate for high quality. I don't ever want to see this gem change!

We went here after our US Visa appointment and we are satisfied with our food. I really liked the soup. The staff were all good however, they keep on cleaning the table even though we’re not yet done eating. Also, the washrooms are not clean.
