I recently had the unfortunate experience of ordering a birthday cake from Sucre for a special celebration, and I must say it was a disappointment from start to finish. The entire process, from placing the order to the delivery, left me frustrated and dissatisfied. Firstly, I ordered the cake well in advance to ensure it would be delivered on time for the birthday celebration. Unfortunately, Sucre failed to fulfill this basic expectation. The cake was not ready and to make matters worse, it was delivered frozen. This unexpected twist was not communicated beforehand, and it left me scrambling to find an alternative dessert for the celebration. Upon contacting Sucre's manager/ owner Yin Sung to express my dissatisfaction, I was met with indifference. She offered no sincere apology for the inconvenience caused and merely explained that the cakes are delivered frozen to ensure freshness. To add insult to injury, Sucre was unwilling to provide a full refund for the subpar service and the inconvenience caused. Instead, they offered a partial refund, which I found inadequate given the magnitude of the disappointment. A company that prides itself on delivering exquisite cakes should also prioritize customer satisfaction, especially when they fail to meet their own delivery commitments. In conclusion, my experience with Sucre was far from satisfactory. The late delivery of a frozen cake and the lack of a genuine apology or a full refund left a bitter taste in my mouth. I would caution others considering Sucre for special occasions to think twice and explore alternative options that prioritize both quality and customer service.

A Mixed Culinary Experience at Sucre Patisserie & CafeIn the heart of Calgary's bustling business district, nestled within the modern confines of Brookfield Place, lies Sucre Patisserie & Cafe - a quaint establishment promising a taste of French elegance. As a seasoned food critic, my expectations were high, lured by the tantalizing image of their ham and Brie baguette sandwich displayed on their billboard.Upon arrival, the café presented an ambiance of refined simplicity, a promise of culinary delights. However, the reality of the sandwich was a sharp contrast to its grand portrayal. The disparity in size was immediately noticeable - what was promised to be a hearty offering turned out to be disappointingly diminutive. This initial letdown, however, was somewhat mitigated by the flavors that danced delicately upon the palate. The combination of ham and Brie, though modest in portion, was a testament to the adage that quality often trumps quantity. The patisserie, a critical component of any French café, unfortunately, did not live up to its name. The pastry, expected to be the epitome of freshness and flakiness, was regrettably dry, suggesting a lapse in the café’s commitment to the day’s freshness. This was a surprising misstep for a café bearing a French moniker, which typically sets expectations of the highest standards in pastry excellence. In terms of value, the pricing at Sucre Patisserie & Cafe seemed steep, particularly given the size and quality of the offerings. The café’s pricing strategy seemed misaligned with the actual experience provided, leaving a discerning palate wanting more.In conclusion, while the flavors of the sandwich were commendable, the overall experience at Sucre Patisserie & Cafe was a blend of highs and lows. The café, though charming, struggles to fully deliver the authentic French patisserie experience it alludes to. This leaves me, as a critic, awarding it a middling three stars - a recognition of its potential, yet a candid acknowledgment of its current shortcomings.

This is my favourite place to go for a pastry and I visit at least once a week. I've tried many things from their selection, but the Creme Brulee Danish is my favourite pastry from Sucre. The pastry is perfectly flaky, the custard is smooth and creamy and the burnt sugar top is just the right crispiness. The pricing is on par with other places but the quality is far superior to your standard bakery. They have a selection of sandwiches, cookies and desserts too and their macarons are some of the most reasonably priced I've seen in the city. Highly recommended and the lady who is behind the counter most days is lovely!

The croissants here are amazing and the best I've ever had! Unfortunately they were all sold out of the swirls. Next time I go back to Calgary I will make sure to preorder.

Ordered in chocolate obsession and Black Forest pastry!! It was amazing! Super moist The chocolate one was dense and flavorful probably one of the best chocolate pastries I have had! It also had this layer of caramel which made it far more interesting. I am not a big fan of chocolate pastries but this was amazing The Black Forest pastry was rich and moist with lot of cherries Not over sweet! Just amazing! Trust me you won't regret eating a pastry here specially the chocolate obsession .

The cute storefront caught my eye as I was walked by so I popped into the shop to see what they offered. I'm always drawn to macarons so I purchased a couple to try. While there weren't many in the display case, they had more that just hadn't made it to the case yet. At $2.25 (CAD) the macarons were reasonably priced. Unfortunately, the macarons weren't particularly good and I would not recommend Sucre for them.
