Absolutely gobsmacked by the portion sizes. I had an authentic Ethiopian meal for the first time in my life. Life is great, I think. I don't think sometimes. Time is money, money is time. Vice-versa. Speaking of money, not too pricey at this restaurant, thankfully. I'm thankful of cheap eats, as well as Jesus Christ.

The service was incredible, the portions were massive, and the food was out of this world. Shocked to see someone thought they could put in a McDonald's across the street and compete with this place. Do yourself a favour and eat here!Kid-friendliness: The staff treated our kids like they were royalty haha. Large portions so keep that in mind!

I was visiting Calgary and was recommended this restaurant for some Ethiopian food. The food was amazing and the owners Teddy and Lettie went above and beyond. Great value for the portions as well. I will try to go back every time I’m in Calgary god willing.

you are within hours of Calgary it is 100% worth the drive to check out Universe Restaurant!I can't over state how amazing how the food AND service were! Honest to God. Holy wow! I'm gonna break down our order cause I just need another excuse to talk about it lol.Murray had Gigi LinguiniI had meat lovers pizzaFio had a kids total breakfastFiora had adult crepes with fruit and NutellaEsme had kids pancakes with Nutella and marshmallowsThere is not a chance in heck that a single one of us could finish any of our meals! We brought home at least as much as we ate sitting there. The wait staff was so friendly and attentive without being overbearing even though we were the only table full. Oh and even though I ordered a small pizza they upgraded to a medium because it was the twins birthday.Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!Kid-friendliness: It was our twins birthday and and they were so sweet about it.

So we went to the Universe Restaurant after a suggestion of an other poster. We were the only customers at 9:30. I definitely would not want their Hollondaise sauce in a cup. It was flavourless and cold. Super nice service but the food clearly need some improvement. Huge portions considering the hash browns and fries. Still disappointing. I had eggs Benny, large portion of hash browns but sauce cold and eggs undercooked. Burger, my friend had, large portion of fries but Burger overcooked and greasy. Not be going back.

I ordered poutine and pizza because ive been told the poutine was excellent. Sorry its a normal frozen potato style. Pizza was ok but i cant honestly put more than that. The chairs and table needs to be changed also. The whole things need improvement. Good luck

Amazing food and big portions, really liked Benedict eggs with salmon. Crepes and fruits were tasty as well, definitely recommend visiting.

Really really good Ethiopian food. Savory and satisfying. We did takeout and had a mix platter with doro wot, shiro, and had leftovers for lunch today that were as good as last night. Shares space with another business that does fried chicken and all day breakfast, and is a very casual feeling cafe space. We will be again!
We sat down and it wasn't overly busy at all. Took 15 mins for anyone to come to us and then another 30 after that to receive the drinks we ordered. Milkshake was a smoothie Definitely not a shake. We ordered food took about an hour to get to us with no warning at all(it wasnt busy in any way) The veg in the omelet was basically raw and the cheese is just 2 triangle slices half melted on top. Not a quality breakfast i was expecting. Just not a great experience in anyway.

What a wonderful experience. We wanted to try Ethiopian food and stumbled across this restaurant. The food is delicious. We ordered the vegetable platter and two curries. Each item was so flavourful and had a different tastes and use of spice. The best Ethiopian food hands down! We were served by the sweetest and kindest couple and wow was the service fantastic.Definitely come here if you want to try Ethiopian food.

Great place for breakfast. Lot's of tables available and great menu options. We had smoked meat breakfast and breakfast poutine. Both were perfect.This place also has two other businesses inside. A fried chicken to go (Nim's) and an ethiopian menu. Fried chicken place is amazing and looking forward to try the ethiopian food.
