The place could use a little cosmetic touch up and also a little more space in between tables. Was a little hesitant when seeing the decor, but once the food was served, all of that goes away. Great quality food with good portions. Friendly services. Will always come back!

It’s big rice sushi. Fish is tasteless, rice dipped in vinegar, and it’s not cheap. I won’t go there anymore.

Could very well be my favourite sushi restaurant in Edmonton. Superior flavour and freshness. I haven't found a better okonomiyaki in Edmonton (I'm open to being wrong). Will return regularly.

It had been years since my last visit to Ichiban. My boyfriend and I had dinner here this past weekend because we happened to be in the west end and were craving sushi. We ordered a deluxe sunomono salad, two chop chop cones, takoyaki, and three rolls: maki maki, fantasy and volcano. The rolls were reasonably priced, given their generous portions of raw fish. In fact, they were so filling that we had 8 pieces left over to take home. Unfortunately, the takoyaki were overcooked with a crunchy exterior and slightly burnt taste.I agree with other reviewers that Ichiban is a casual dining spot. The interior could use some renovating to improve the atmosphere. However, overall, we were satisfied with the quality of food and service and would return.

Hadn't been since pre-Covid, and as memory serves, it was a satisfying dining experience. We decided to try it again tonight, but takeout this time. Both my wife and I were highly disappointed. The sashimi tasted fishy (old), the rolls were oversized to the point of being cumbersome to eat, and the beef used for the tataki was, I suspect, a lower grade of meat. It was also sliced too thick, which rendered it even more chewy. I have to assume that the downgrade in quality is a direct result of the losses inflicted over the course of the pandemic--higher prices & poorer quality--of which Ichiban was likely not immune. For what we were charged, we were certainly expecting more than what was delivered tonight

We've been to the Ichiban twice. The first time we were quite pleased, especiallly liking the Miso Soup and the Tropical Maki (which has fresh and tasty mango along with the salmon). My seafood Udon was okay...but lots of salmon and not much other seafood. The second time the Miso Soup was as great as ever (love the seaweed), and the Tropical Maki didn't seem to have as much mango. But maybe that was just our imagination. But really disappointing was the Beef Shogayaki dinner with tough beef...and while it was advertised as a 'ginger' beef, there really was barely a trace of ginger taste. It was quite bland. And the fact that it was pretty small ended up not being as much of an issue as it would have been if it had been really good. I aso had an Ikura (salmon caviar)....and it didn't seem particularly fresh. But then again....Edmonton is pretty far from the ocean. But they do grow spinach here, so I would have hoped they could have used fresh spinach for their spinach gomae instead of what tasted very much like bitter frozen spinach. Since it's near us we may come back....as their sushi seems very good...and we'll always enjoy their Miso.

Amazing! Some of the best sushi I have had. Many unique rolls. Service was excellent and the food came out quickly. Place was clean and had a nice look. Was reasonably priced, especially for the quality.

First time visiting and loved the food. Sashimi and a few various rolls totally hit the spot. Really enjoyed the fresh fish, delicious combination of flavors, and left satisfied. Good value for the quality of the food I ordered.

The sign said open, but they wouldn't seat me. The waiter was fairly short and rude to me about it to. But looking around the place is actually pretty run down inside. I won't be bothering to visit here again. There's plenty of Sushi restaurants that are actually happy to have someone's business.

This is a great place for sushi. Be careful ordering, the maki rolls are a bit bigger than average in my experience. Really excellent service. I highly recommend the eel.
